    Main takeaway would be DO NOT PAY FULL PRICE FOR THIS BOOK. It is in no way worth 80 dollars.

      30€= 35,50$

    A shame we can't get 3 separate art books for all 3 seasons of Avatar but I guess it's too late for that. I assume any potential extra pieces of art are gone by now.

    80 DOLLARS!!! That’s way overpriced. I am really trying to get everything that’s Avatar/Korra related but I’m definitely not going to buy this

    I was trying to toss up between the regular and the deluxe one (the regular is about $50 AUD and the deluxe is $113 AUD) so this was EXACTLY the video I was looking for. Thank you!

    I'm disappointed that the new pages are the art Bryan and co. made this year. I was hoping it was some production/development art that wasn't included in the first edition for whatever reason, and could provide a bit more insight on designs of things in the show. Or like you suggest the DVD cover art could be neat (for the US there's been three boxsets with different art since the release of the first edition).

    Thanks so much for this video. Imo this second edition beats the original b/c they replace the M.Night foreword with Gene Luen Yang. Im debating about whether collecting the original Korra art books or the new ones because the first season one apparently has less pages.
    Also, just saw this on Amazon Canada for the same price as the regular edition. I do have the regular edition and it doesnt have the bookmark or the gold pages on the backs of the covers, but instead the avatar world map

    I think it’s too expensive for what you get. I got the regular edition cause I don’t have the art book at all. What a letdown. They shoulda gave you more extras. I’m glad I got the standard one. Like it boggles my mind why the price is soo high. Like why????

    I don't know if you noticed, But with the deluxe version. The Raava / Vaatu Slipcase design is made up of 6 Pieces. But there are only 5 Art of the animated series books including Korra. What do you think the 6th Book will be?

    Oh man, that's super awesome that Bryan's sketches (and Lauren's and Joaquim's) are collected here. I've loved watching them post those these past few months, so it's great that they're going to be all in this book. As a Canadian, I, unfortunately, wasn't able to bid on any of them, so glad to have them here.
    When this new edition was announced, the new art pages and stackable slip case were what I was most interested in, so I'm still all in to buy this. The lithograph is about what I expected anyway, so I'm not terribly let down by it. The foil treatment is probably the only lackluster bit in that it's not that striking, though I get the fear of not wanting to have so much that it looks obnoxious.

    Good to know, it does seem strange that the deluxe edition is that much more expensive than the regular version for all that you get. I never got the original art book (I think I kind of flipped through one I borrowed from the library ages ago), so I think now would be a good time to pick it up, but definitely going to go with the regular version, which you can get for less than half that price on Amazon. Also the Gene Yang forward at the beginning is a big plus for me, since I'm such a fan of his work on the comics, lol.
    Does seem a little disappointing that all the new content is basically stuff that's already been up online, but since I don't follow social media it will probably mostly be all new for me at least.

    I'm from Spain and I bought the deluxe edition, I was..hoping to get that but instead I get the book that is so messy without plastic to cover it from scratches and doesn't get all the things like the lithograph or the gilded edged it's so sad, is there other way to buy it where is known that is going to be like that? It's 76 euros to Spain and comes like that (no plastic, scratches, without the other things)? It has to be a joke

  • @armita611

    LIke you said, you can get them for about 30%-40% off cover price in the US but if don't know about that or are outside the US, that price is steep. I wasn't expecting the back cover to have an image and I'm really interested to see what the Korra books have there and if those get any kind of special cover treatments. What happened to the gilded edges this was supposed to have? Overall, I knew going into it that these deluxe editions were going to be overpriced packages in the end and that I was going to buy them anyway because I want that connected spine image. If that spine image wasn't there, I'd get the normal second editions because I think the cover images we have seen so far are much better than the original ones I currently have and I would still want to switch those out.

  • @ThePreciseClimber

    Kind of odd the foreword is by a person who wasn't even involved in the creation of the original series. Then again, as you said, the first edition had M. Night Shyamalan which was also an odd choice. A foreword by Brian, Mike or even Aaron Ehasz would've been more logical. You need someone with REALLY close ties to the series.
    In Assassin's Creed: The Fall: Deluxe Edition (a comic book), the foreword was by Corey May, the writer of the first two games and one of the three most important people with ties to the very beginning of the franchise (Patrice Desilets, Jade Raymond and Corey May).

    Thanks for the review, I was having problem finding information about the differences between the two. I just have one question, what are the other deluxe editions that are going to fit next to that one? I can find anything about it online.

      4 of them will be the 4 Korra art books, Book 1 is out in March, we have details about that one. The final book is a bit of a mystery, it looks like it will be a new book, but we don't know what it is yet.

    • @tombocai
      @tombocai 3 года назад

      @@AirspeedPrime Thanks! I saw there are four Korra art books and was wondering if it might be that, but was confused because it still didn't add up to the five missing. It feels very disproportionate to have four books on Korra and only one on Aang, which is what started it all, and that in my opinion is a far superior series. I guess I don't see the point in getting the deluxe edition then as I don't see myself spending all that money on four books about Korra. Maybe if the last one is worth it I get just that one. Thanks again for the help!

    Did you have any issues removing the barcode sticker from the slipcase? Dark Horse produces some nice artbooks, but stuff like that drives me insane!

      No issues, I was careful and took it slow, but it came off easy enough, thankfully it was not one of those super low quality stickers that never come off easy.

    little disappointing and I would agree that it is overpriced. the steelbook Blu-ray set for atla was way overpriced too. I bought it thinking maybe the errors/bugs that I saw with the original Blu-ray release would be fixed and they weren't...
    Edit: on a side note Netflix did update Avatar to the Blu-ray version and those bugs are there now too.

    • @christxd2892

      What bugs were they?

    • @KyleMcQuerrey
      @KyleMcQuerrey 3 года назад

      @@christxd2892 I'll just make it a list of some of the things I found:
      Winter Solstice Pt.2: Roku and Aang the lip flaps are out of sync 18:23 - 18:43. At 19:40 Sokka and Katara's lip flaps are out of sync.
      Siege of the North Pt.2: starting at 14:24 most of the red scenes seem to not be touched by the the bluray upgrade and flat out look worse than the DVD.
      The Chase: At 23:25 when Zuko yells at the group to leave, and the small scene of them actually leaving was cut out.
      Lake Laogai: At 19:16 the tail end of Iroh's plea to Zuko, the lip flaps get out of sybc again but isn't as bad.
      Again that's just from what I've noticed. Might not be a massive deal, but it's enough to bug me and take me out of the show for a few minutes.

    • @christxd2892
