    What a cool tour that must’ve been to go on... I’ve seen a few of these facility tours now (mostly by Tim on MAC) and one thing I’ve noticed is that the company’s that have world class reputations (like Daniel Defense) and who are renowned for producing products of truly exceptional, top-tier quality tend to reflect that at every level of their company.. Even in their manufacturing facility.

      I wouldn’t say “even in their manufacturing facility “ more like because of their manufacturing facility.

Might as well have been a surgery room. Great bunch of friendly folks, & could not have been more impressed. Even picked up one of their custom DD Kershaw knifes before leaving.

      @TylOOOr D I second BA barrels. The Hanson profile is amazing. Super accurate. Up until building my gun with the BA Hanson, I thought that all ARs were only so accurate. Shooting GTO/CORE 15 and M&P ARs, and trying to dial in accuracy with different bullets, which the CORE 15 rifles suck for accuracy, the Hanson amazed me. (I don't know why the CORE 15 barrels are so shitty, nor do I know whose barrels they are.)

    What fascinates me about an operation like DD is the machines that make the parts. My father was a machine tool designer and tried to get me to follow in his footsteps, but 2 years in engineering at a drafting table right out of high school was enough for me. My father was a key designer of a 8 head turret milling machine that was computer operated back in the day when the computer was a huge thing that ran off of ticker tape back in the 1960's. Machines have come a long way since then, but I do hate seeing robots doing the work that should be done by humans.

Being able to machine a part in only one or two operations really does increase consistency and reduces errors in the machining process.

      MILSPEC is a quality production/control standard. Meeting a defined very tight specification, samples tested from each lot, done by third party inspectors, under the supervision of a government inspector. Being that, something that is truly "milspec", can not be purchased, it is produced for government use. Claiming something is milspec is false. It may be produced to the original specifications, but has not been through the almost impossible defined quality assurance and consistency testing. What I have heard about Daniel Defense reject rate, the parts they ship out the door possibly might meet milspec standards, but still have not been through the certification. Milspec is VERY hard to pass, and unaffordable for most companies even if they are doing government production.

    • @GusFogle
      @GusFogle 5 лет назад +3

      @@roquri Milspec is just a standardized minimum specification deemed to be acceptable for government use. Anything that's standardized in that way can be exceeded in quality on the commercial market because custom builders can build products that are built BEYOND milspec specifications. Every soldier, marine or seaman I ever spoke with has said their issue weapons were beat up pieces of junk and they'd rather have the AR they owned back home.

    Thanks so much for this video, Eric (& Chad)-- Due in no small part to this one, as well as a few others by "Garand Thumb," "Mr. Guns n Gear," "The Warrior Poet," etc., just as soon as I can afford it, I will be a Daniel Defense customer!

    Political views aside. The processes and procedures are awesome to see. Thank you for the machine porn
    I learned on a sumo-VMC 2100 verticals 3- axis. I would love to see the program language for 11-Axis 🤯

    They’re running autocomp on horizontals which is pretty cool. Wonder if they’re running something like an equator, or if they probe in the machine 🤔

    The hammer forging was really neat! But isn't that mandrel sort of short? Does the machine just keep pushing the short mandrel through the bore all the way through? What keeps it from getting stuck by the hammer forging the bore tighter around it?

    I run a DD barrel in my build and love it very accurate. I carry a Benchmade Griptilian every day and love it. However I will not be buying from either company ever again. Same for Dicks. I will not return what I already purchased but my future dollars will speak for themselves.

    Great video! Felt like I was on the tour with you. Unfortunately, given such a large company, Daniel Defense customer service is horrible. Because iof this I do net carry or support their product.. looking fwd to your next video. :D

      I'm 46 and I remember that one! lol There were a couple other ones that came out later on that claimed to do the same thing, AND MORE!!! ROTF LMAO Then in the late 1990's early 2000's everyone and their brother john came out with something similar! If you stay up late at night or are up early on the Weekends, you will still see them advertised in Infomercials every once in a while, when channel surfing! lol

    To be honest I have never thought much of Daniel Defense, but seeing their factory gives me some respect for their proccesses and quality of product. It looked like you could eat off of that floor. That impresses me, it means they take their jobs very seriously.
