- Some doctors say knee replacement for overweight people is not an option until the patient loses weight, but to lose weight effectively, says Dr. Likover, the person needs to be able to move without pain. Dr. Likover and one of his patients discuss the knee replacement obesity catch-22. Technology has changed a lot, says Dr. Likover, and performing a custom knee replacement on an overweight person today is not a problem. Some doctors are wrong. Why should overweight people not benefit from a knee replacement?
Also they are problaby in a lot of pain hence unable to walk.
Even hip replacement they say loss weight
Most hospital systems will not allow a surgeon to do surgery if a patient's wt is over a certain amount. Too many risks.
I have the problem in the doctor say it's supposed to last for 20 years and if I supposed to lose weight what is the numbers go down they can do my surgery I want to know if they can help me and tell me if I can just have the surgery and what about if I don't lose that weight like I want to do or how much weight do I need to lose for them to be able to do the surgery for me
An idea how much extra and also if both of my knees and I'm 53
I was told at my last visit with the ortho surgeon that I was too fat for him to do surgery. That was over a year ago, now I can hardly walk at all.
Finally got mine scheduled for April struggled to lose 40lbs. and have 40 more to go and he wants me to lose 10 to 15lbs before surgery
Susan Payne keep trying!!! I went threw two doctors who first said I was to young, second said I was to big. No care for the pain and suffering I was going threw. His response was have weight loss surgery. Before my knee went south I had lost about 30 pounds and was doing great. I don’t need weight loss surgery, I need a new knee. I finally found a doctor who agrees and said he would do mine. So October 8th is my big day. Prayers for you to find a doctor to work with you
How are you?
Shelia Pea for me I’m great a huge difference in my life. I had a set back and had a infection in my lower leg. We caught it fast and got it taken care off. As far as the knee it’s great getting better daily and I’m blown away how well it feels. I’m on the road to recovery and preparing to have my left knee done next year

You don't need knees to lose weight. It helps but you don't need them. Diet Works. Other exercises work also
