At 7:49, the reference to X vs. "manual" operation is incorrect. The M setting on old cameras stood for millisecond delay, meaning it triggered the flash earlier in the shutter cycle. This allowed the old flash bulbs to start the bright burn of the magnesium wool or foil inside the bulb. Strobes, as they were then called---electronic flashes---were virtually instantaneous and did not require the delay.
I have a minolta a 2 the same one on the video from my grandfather but in much better condition. Are u interested in buying n if not who would u recommend me selling it to. The price is right.
Great video. But I have a question. I have the Minolta A model. Found it at my father's house. Apparently it was my grandfather's. Anyway, I would like to use it but it has no power but can't seem to see where the battery would go. Can you please tell me how to find where the battery is kept? Thank you.
The Minolta A does not use a battery, it is entirely mechanical. You can download a light meter app for your smart phone to get the settings you need for the camera.
I have a Minolta A, f3.5 model. Everything works except the rangefinder patch does not change when the focus cam is moved. What could be the cause of this problem?
Either the rangefinder mirror came off or the arm which moves the mirror is stuck and needs to be oiled. It is not hard to remove the top cover the A, but be careful not to pull up on the winding shaft under the winding lever, or it can become disengaged from the return spring.
I have this camera but unfortunately the wind lever is jammed. It could be a simple fix, but I don’t know where to begin. I will do a little research to figure out what the problem might be.

Just bought one thru Mercari, apparently it's in solid condition, I'm stoked

The shutter blades may be stuck, which wold cause the winder to jam.
@@japanvintagecamera8869 thanks for the tip. I did notice the wind lever locked when the shutter failed to fire. I will look into it.
@@japanvintagecamera8869 Do you know how to fix the advance lever?
Could you make a video on it?
Is the lens on this camera fixed or M39 mount?
Fixed
It's so phat 😂😂😂
