For me, this song proves that you can love anything Star Wars-related if you grew up with that particular thing. After over twenty years, I've never once felt any annoyance from this song's inclusion in Return of the Jedi, because I honestly had no idea it was a new addition until I was a teenager. On the other hand, adding the "Noooooo!" dialogue to the scene where Vader saves Luke from the Emperor fills me with such rage and despair that I question George Lucas's sanity as a filmmaker. That's a change that I did NOT grow up with, and I just can't get on board with it.
I honestly believe the 2011 Blu-rays were a bit of a fluke. Like, the 1997 Special Editions make sense; They're warm-up for the prequels, "fix" some of George's personal pet peeves, and better align the films with the upcoming Prequel trilogy. Everything's fine - even if I, personally, don't agree with every change. The 2004 Special Editions also make sense, but are a bit infuriating. As with the '97 versions, they better align the OT with the (now filming/wrapping) sequel trilogy. Ok, great. Again, there are changes I don't really care for, but hey, that's fine. I'm not George Lucas. We can have differing opinions. But the original, theatrical versions aren't available on DVD... and that's really a shame. I'm fine with altering the originals so long as the originals are still accessible. And they're not in 2004. Unless you buy an old VHS or Laserdisc copy. (or hunt down a film print, I guess) In 2006 he remedies this a bit by re-releasing the 'originals,' and while some fans weren't satisfied with that set & the circumstance; being able to now purchase ANH, Empire, and Jedi separately is nice. Plus, having both versions of the film is a fans dream come true. However, I think that Lucas, in his free-time, decided to tinker with the films (just for fun) for his own personal viewing enjoyment. I mean, Ben Burtt has said as much with Attack of the Clones. (Apparently the 2 theatrical cuts - 1 for regular and 1 for Imax, were accompanied by a 3rd cut Lucas made semi on his own for his own viewing. So there's at least 3 versions of just that film out there...) It's something he doesn't intend to see the light of day, and is just for himself. Essentially a creator-made fan edit. Alright, I'm fine with that. But then Blu-ray comes around. And fans demand a re-release. And, Lucas has some ideas about making 3-D versions of the movies as well. So, a Blu-ray is made. CGI Yoda is added to Episode 1, and there's a plethora of more changes in every film I think. (1 transition change in Ep III, multiple shot timing changes in Ep II, and the obvious changes in the OT) Some of these, like CGI Yoda, feel more like things for the fans. But pointless changes like having Vader say "Nooo!! in Jedi are unnecessary. And, aside from a personal giggle from Lucas, I can't see why the films were changed again years after the Prequels were finished. Like, stop. There's no need to change anything else at this point. It's over. And now Disney's making more changes, and I can't... I agree, though. I actually am perfectly fine with Jedi Rocks. I actually like both Jedi Rocks and Lapti Nek. The songs, the sequences, everything. I don't think it's just because that's the versions I "grew up" with, though. I think it's just that, regardless of whether you agree with it or not, the special edition changes BEFORE 2011 were objective, since they served to bridge the gap between the two trilogies. But the post 2011 changes have had absolutely no justification aside from maybe CGI Yoda. But I still prefer the Ep 1 puppet Yoda... so.

Yes, the song is hard to understand but really not bad (except for probably when he was yelling AAAA and when the green woman started singing in an out-of-place pitch of voice compared to the main singer). The scene with its effects in your face is bad

Was pretty cool seeing and hearing this in theaters. I had always imagine what it would be like to see the Special Edition in theaters and it took at least 20 years to showcase this!
Ok, the scene where this play is awfull and totally out of place, but let's be honest, the song itself is not that bad, and pretty catchy (also brings back memories from Battlefront 2 Assault mode) :P
An amazing masterpiece clearly only true intellectuals understand the lyrics. "Cheetah chute oop papa chicky lanky haaayyy!" it truly speaks to my heart indeed.
I like both songs, and I grew up with the special editions. I understand what some reviewers think about the musical sequence being redone. I for one think the special edition version of the song would've worked better if it was shot better and didn't add too many characters. The song isn't perfect but I find it catchy. They didn't really have the time to shoot the musical sequence and the puppets were not very good. I understand that the special edition removed all evidence of the amount of work they put into it. I like how the song contrasted the seemingly dark nature of Jabba's palace, and in the star wars universe, the band like to put on a good performance, but deep down, they are fearful of Jabba and hope for escape.
Are we going to ignore how catchy this song is? *Nobody acknowledges me* I’ll take that as a yes. EDIT: I guess people acknowledged me after all. I've got 100+ likes.
0:40 I remember reading one comment on this song many years ago saying this lyric sounded like she’s saying “hear my shotgun move my keys”. I never unheard that whenever I’d hear this song from then on lmfao

Because it replaced the original scene, which always annoys fans. But mostly because it robs the sequence of much of its dark tones, making the scene kinda silly. Aand the CGI doesn't match the rest of the scenary too well. I don't hate this scene, but I'd really rather that they had left the original.
@@bobbyberro8107 I think the CGI looks much better than the puppets. I think both the of the songs fit the scene but I do like Jedi Rocks a lot, in terms of how it sounds, and the tone of debauchery it sets for Jabba’s Palace.

Yes, the song is hard to understand but really not bad (except for probably when he was yelling AAAA and when the green woman started singing in an out-of-place pitch of voice compared to the main singer). The scene with its effects in your face is bad
I like Jedi Rocks and Lapti Nek. Come at me.
who doesn't....
Goku Black me too they did there best though
same
They're trolls. If they really hated this they wouldn't have clicked on it. They're here to troll, don't take em seriously. You do you and don't let haters be the fun police online
Lapti Nek is badass
awesome
einfach Davis Fucking Schulz!
Holy shit

Dank deinem Kommentar schäme ich mich nun nicht mehr dafür, diesen Track zu mögen.
Hello there
Was pretty cool seeing and hearing this in theaters. I had always imagine what it would be like to see the Special Edition in theaters and it took at least 20 years to showcase this!
@@Theosake It was great! :D
Ok, the scene where this play is awfull and totally out of place, but let's be honest, the song itself is not that bad, and pretty catchy (also brings back memories from Battlefront 2 Assault mode) :P
Yeah, there really isn't that much bad with it, it's just the scene is kinda out of place with it now that I think about it.
Especially that second part of the song is really nice.
jar jar binks is the only one who likes this song
it realy wasent out of place
That battlefront part 👌👌
That extended instrumental section came as a huge surprise. Genuinely good stuff there, though.
An amazing masterpiece clearly only true intellectuals understand the lyrics.
"Cheetah chute oop papa chicky lanky haaayyy!" it truly speaks to my heart indeed.
You know the nights gonna be good when the singer yells "too nee tang!"
I love this song. 🎶 No matter how many people say the older version is better it’s not.
Genre: Jizz
Seriously, that's what it's called.
And in real life it's Funk and blues combined... especially at 2:09
@@Laurinwookie It's so intergalactic Rick James.
Jizz is the cantata band music, this would have to be something different because it’s more blues
As someone who grew up with the special editions, I am nostalgic for this in a way I cannot explain
0:50 I really like that they incorporated a 9/8 time signature in this song
Am I the only one who actually kinda likes this? I mean to be fair the vocals are horrid but the instrumentals pretty nice.
yup
i agree
Song is actually pretty good. The scene though? Completely unnecessary and jarring.
AstroQuill Productions the music is pretty fantastic but the lyrics... i think they're horrible
AstroQuill Productions so, the first time i saw this musical number of "Jedi Rocks" in the 2004 DVD, i was like "WTF? This is ruthlessly horrible!"
I was searching for jedi Kyber rocks not this....
Still. THIS IS THE MOST AWESOME SOUNDTRACK IN STAR WARS.
WE MAKIN IT OUT OF THE SARLACC PIT WITH THIS ONE 🔥🔥🔥
Rest in peace James Earl Jones, I’m sure you loved Jedi Rocks.
Are we going to ignore how catchy this song is?
*Nobody acknowledges me*
I’ll take that as a yes.
EDIT: I guess people acknowledged me after all. I've got 100+ likes.
Can anyone actually understand the words & sing it lol 😂
Timothy Torres it has a catchy theme.
Catchy as hell id say. Added it to my ipod eons ago lol
Love the inclusion of the “space harmonica” song at the end
No but the way he absolutely slaughtered imperial taxation policy at 0:29 (that would've been a capital offence a the height of palpatine's rule)
0:40 I remember reading one comment on this song many years ago saying this lyric sounded like she’s saying “hear my shotgun move my keys”. I never unheard that whenever I’d hear this song from then on lmfao

I love the backup dancers/singers' voices
0:04 That moment where you sigh and remember you're watching the inferior version.
I missed the age when Star Wars so much that this looks good to me now.
Every time I watched Return of the Jedi and this scene came on, I danced around the living room and ran around the entire house during the speeder bike chase
The Power of MAHHHHHHHNNYYYY made this an audible song
This song is fire.
Wanna buy some deathsticks?
You dont wanna sell me deathsticks
I dont wanna sell you deathsticks
You wanna go home and rethink of your life

Girl: So what type of music are you into?
Me: Uh, its complicated
I wish they make more starwars music like this.

0:29 when he said "Oo-la-wang choo koo-chee-kee-pa-tie tan-ga ris-pa ta ya lee oh. Yo! Ahhh! Yal-lie!" I felt that.
0:29 me as a kid trying to sing the lyrics of English songs
True.
2:12 Rapotwanalantonee plays one mean growdi harmonique. He's my spirit animal. Please Disney! Give us Rapotwanalantonee: A Star Wars Story, or better yet, give us a movie about the Max Rebo Band.
Is it wrong to say I love this
Nope
You can’t tell me this isn’t the funniest thing ever because it just is
Best prank a game dev can do ever is make a Star Wars game where the end credits that can’t be skipped, it will play this song and have Maul, Kyle Katarn, Revan, etc dabbing and floss dancing the entire time.
*brain cells deleted just picturing this in my head*
beautiful ain’t it
You know what, I grew up with this song. I genuinely love it.
since I'm from Mos Eisley, I'll write down the lyrics for you to enjoy...cheers

Little do people know the Max Rebo band sat at the top of the intergalactic top 100 with Jedi rocks for 32 weeks straight. That was until the Cantina band made their comeback.
Cantina band? Yo show some respect, they’re Figrin D’an and the Modal Nodes
@@OtisCluck and I just learned something new today
That solo at 2:32 is simply haunting
It’s so tuff
WE MAKING IT OFF TATOOINE WITH THIS ONE 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
It goes all James Brown at the 1:10 mark. This is Jar Jar's favorite jam.
Regardless how you feel about the vocal part, I don't think anyone can deny that ending part is amazing.
I am 100% okay with this
Why do people hate this? It's music, it's supposed to sound weird because aliens, not humans, are singing it.
0IIIIII They're trolls. If they really hated this they wouldn't have clicked on it. They're here to troll, don't take em seriously. You do you and don't let haters be the fun police online
Because it replaced the original scene, which always annoys fans. But mostly because it robs the sequence of much of its dark tones, making the scene kinda silly. Aand the CGI doesn't match the rest of the scenary too well. I don't hate this scene, but I'd really rather that they had left the original.
Because it replaced the other sequence which suited the tone much better
@@bobbyberro8107 I think the CGI looks much better than the puppets. I think both the of the songs fit the scene but I do like Jedi Rocks a lot, in terms of how it sounds, and the tone of debauchery it sets for Jabba’s Palace.
@@0IIIIII I like Jedi rocks but the original one, where you just saw the slaves dancing and singing unwillingly felt more like the kind of creepy and shady atmosphere Jabba would keep. The 2011 one kind of felt like they where watching a musical number.
this is me playing star wars battlefront 2 (Classic, 2005) on steam in 2012
I'm just gonna say that I like both Rebo songs
There were three c;
Oh? I've heard Lapti Nek, but what's the third?
I think it's the one that plays after Leia (dressed as Boushh) gets the bounty for Chewbacca)
Galactic Dance Blast is the other
🐑🐉Hey Ampharos! I just wanna say thank you for getting me back into Star Wars and no I am not kidding you did! When I think of you, you honestly look like a TaunTaun with Sith Force Lighting Powers and no hair. I also hope to see Star Wars fan art of you some day! 🐑🐉
This is actually good
I loved this song and a great scene all around
Joder esto si es música. 🍷🧐🤌
1:03 Funk
🔥🔥🔥🔥
Charly García would be proud
Its like Funky Blues.. both genres combined... I mean you can hear an awesome blues solo at 2:09
Instead of featuring the whole scene in the movie, this should've been the end credits song
