wow, this is an amazing tip actually, considering i only really dedicate myself to runs in which i can dig out of the temple and kill steve before the ice biome (or get tinker wands in the first two picks). gonna try this thanks!
Also you can use chaotic polymorph to turn yourself into humanoid create to grab extra wand with you and enter the holy mountain (it was mentioned in one of the fury forged tricks and tips vid)
One super useful little tip that I think you didn't mention (although it appeared in the video behind you!) is that you can dilute pools of toxic sludge by pouring water into them, turning the entirety of it into water. Great way of making a pool safe to explore, or even getting more water to refill your flask with.
You’re exactly right! I even had that in my script. Even shooting in to the pool to mix it up. Must’ve accidentally deleted the clip during the edit! I’ll re-add it for the inevitable part 2 :)
@@RegularDude00 yep, just have the flask in your hand, and as long as the top of the flask is touching a liquid (deeper pools are easier) then it will automatically fill, might take a few seconds
Yep @Bowuigi is exactly right. Even spark bolt is decent for digging most terrain. I also believe this has been heavily reduced as the game received more and more updates!
@@McQueeb spark bolt is really nice for dealing with small pixels, mainly because the explosion doesn't remove you from existance if you are unprepared
I feel you man, so many times i have died because i flew into some black invisible pixel that stopped me from running from some bolts from enemies or bombs. Also dont dig yourself out with explosions because they may end you.
I really wish the game would just despawn those tiny pixel-sized chunks of ground. As you say, it's incredibly frustrating. That and getting stuck on terrain.
A tip that I would always give others: Know what spells can hurt you if they come back at you. Spells like Magic Arrow and Glowing Lance look like they are in the same category but if a glowing lance bounces off a shield and comes back at you. You got problems son. I think the list of non obvious ones is pretty small but there aren't really any hard rules. Most spells with an explosion will hurt you if you're caught in it but Energy Orb doesn't. Some spells won't damage you directly but if you fire Concentrated Light at your feet, you're liable to get burned. Sure you could throw Disc Projectile on a trigger bolt but you better be sure you know where that thing is going when it pops out. I really liked the tip about the visual inspection. The only one I've really noticed is the number of tips on a wand. The other stuff is really cool to know.
Hello McQueeb. I was frustrated with Noita, uninstalled it several times, but thanks to your videos I always felt the need to come back and give it another try. Recently I managed to kill the dragon in the jungle biome on my first try (ambrosia for the win) and it felt great. I would not been there without you.
23:45 I just experimented that one today when I tried to destroy a firefly's nest by using a luminous drill through a wall just above it and being instantly drowned into lava. It's like this game changes its rules just to see me cry in anger... My tip : on the first two biomes, try to find a spell that can dig or even scrape the walls and use it to collect the little veins of gold everywhere. You can easily get hundreds of gold early and without risks.
Those deaths are the worst. I once had a wand with Heavy Bolts (that drop immediately and do lots of explosion damage) and at that time, I didnt know what it does. So, my curiousity took over and I fired one. To my misfortune, there was a bit of land which it hit and immediately blew me up xD (even had the glass canon perk which secured my death lmao)

Yeah this game is ridiculously hard and sometimes can feel unfair, I think that pushes a lot of people away after a while. I got my first win after about a hundred runs mostly due to a lucky op wand, and my second win (this time without RNG wand) didn't come until just yesterday with 145 deaths on record. I think the trick to perseverance is learning to laugh at your ridiculous unexpected deaths, because if you don't then you're definitely gonna cry lmao. Looking forward to the wand building guide!
Just started playing a few days ago and was looking for a good 1.0 beginners guide - lo and behold, you uploaded one a few hours ago! This was by far the best guide I've seen. Thank you so much
I gave up on Noita, but your 9 hour video inspired me to try again, and I finally managed to get all the way to the end yesterday. Thank you for motivating and helping me to experience this great great game!
And it's insanely fun! I recommend trying the share damage upon death option (paraphrasing) if anyone is having trouble making it farther, due to a player dying. That way you can continue as a group, you'll just be weaker as a group.
Since I've played countless hours of FPS with jump bound to the thumb button on the mouse, it was really natural to bind fly to that button instead. Kick, for me, is bound to the space bar so exactly the opposite to your configuration. What took me a while to figure out (I'm only some 26 hours of play time in now!) is that kicking is directional. Quite obvious if you think about it perhaps, but at first I assumed that kick was simply horizonally forward. And now I've learned that it's not just directional, it's also metered. Thank you!
@@nickrogers3624 Well, some, apparently. But I may have misunderstood what he was trying to say. It can also be that your aim into the floor will reduce the kick, not so much that you can really control kick strength.
When going for longer runs I always make it a goal to kill the ugly ancient alchemist boss. The greek letter spells he drops can be easily worked into infinite healing wands
@@ZlZSniP3DZlZ if you're asking about the final boss, you either need luminous drill, black holes, or some sort of digging to get out of the final boss arena. Luminous drill on a decent wand can get you back to the surface.
@@kylepatterson9389 I have 8 black holes on a wand that has the always cast spell that causes spells to fly in a wavy pattern and increases speed by 2 times. Plus accelerating shot, on my first black hole. I'm going to kill the boss then go for 11 orbs. Is killing the boss then collecting orbs generally the strategy others use? I think I recall reading that each orb adds 500 max health to the final boss.
acid potion is also quite great to grab too if you feel comfortable fighting the holy temple boss as you can use the acid to punch through the floor and leave through the hole. this will prevent the temple collapse and now you can go back up and still tinker with your wands as you can explore. i havent had a chance recently as every time i had the potion a worm had already spawned steve for me, but in theory you could punch through under the pools of water in the temple and not damage the temple enough to spawn him.
Polymorph maybe your worst nightmare, but it is able to help you carry an extra wand a into Holy mountain, by polymorphing in to an enemy that is able to pick up that wand, you can also use the return spell next to the portal of a holy mountain in order to drop off extra wands/items.
Thanks for the awesome video! Even with 70 hrs in, I learned a thing or two. I have an additional tip, which I never saw anywhere mentioned... Maybe because it is so obvious: There is lot's of gold in the terrain of the first two levels. Especially in the second level you can often dig through the soft materials with the shotgun or something else to become rich. If not, you might have some dynamite left before leaving the level, which you can use to dig.
Absolutely great tips! Even as a player that beat the game a few times, the q rebind trick, the potion drop, and the reminder I don't have to kill everything I see is real helpful, so I can maybe win even if I can't pull an op wand. Also the Idea I can kill the fire guys from below using clipping is fun and I can't wait to try it
Youre awesome dude. You seem like a nice person who genuinely wants to help, thank you and thanks for talking so calmly. Btw your eyes are insanely deep blue brro its actually nuts. I love noita and your videos definitely convinced me make the decision to get into it. Best decision in a long time
Speaking of enemy weaknesses, I wish the "progress" screen told you literally anything at all about the enemies. Even if it's just interesting flavor text.
I just bought this game for 25% off because I saw someone play it briefly and have been wanting it for a while. Jumped right in just to find that I had absolutely NO idea what I was doing. The game really doesn't hold your hand at all. This guide helped a lot! Thank you!
Perfect! First you brought this game to my attention and then you provide a beginners guide🙂 you turned this year from horrible to somewhat enjoyable for me. Thank You Sir
Well... guess I’ll buy a 1000$ pc for a 10$ game now. Feels like the reason why this game has caught so much of my interest could be that it kinda takes the “Super difficult, here are the controls, now you’re on your own, man.” Aspect of Rain World, and the platforming of terraria and puts it in one game. And that “every pixel is stimulated” thingy makes it all feel so much more epic.
Thank you very much for all that Noita content, it's really really helpful ! And, as a non-english speaker, i have to say that you speak a perfectly understandable english, which is perfect for me to get all the wonderful tips you give in your long runs !
I've beaten the game all of twice and the same way every time. The Invisibility perk and a lot of patience. The first time I managed to defeat the boss thanks to that one perk that causes liquids to turn to ice around you. Got thrown into the lava and that perk saved me. It also provided a nice little shield to fire some powerful wands at it.
I find left and right click together to be a slightly easier way to quick transfer spells. Also kick on left shift and slot 5 on caps lock (although I don't know if you can bind that on QWERTY) gives my pinky something to do and still lets me move left while pulling out my water flask in a hurry. Great guide that I'll definitely refer some of my friends to who are looking to get into the game!
Started playing this game a week ago and learned a lot from your videos, love to see that you're doing this additional video for beginners now, thank you ^^
Hello Mr. Queeb, You should do a spellbook series where you have an archive of short videos that describes each spell individually and showcases interesting interactions. You can also have overarching videos like “Modifiers for Morons” or “Projectiles for the Privy” and discuss them overall. It would act as a great resource, and even the Noita devs could point to it as a reliable source of information!
(Another good use of polymorphium potion is to increase maximum flight height. If you turn into a sheep, wait for a while (it requires knowledge of about how long the potion works) fly up until you start falling down, then automatically transform back to normal form, and use flying to get higher.) Like, how do I explain. While you are a sheep, you don't use the normal flying bar. Being a sheep has it's own flying bar. So if you use that one first, transform mid air, you are already high in the air with a full flying bar. Not that useful in caves, but definitely amazing if you need to get up to somewhere high at early game or even late game
Hey McQueeb, what can I say: finally! :) I started watching Noita with your 9h run, ended up buying it soon after, and been following your stream tips as I can, but a collection is super welcome! Keep up the sweet sweet content and thank you for your dedication and good vibes!
6:50 that's why I love this game. It was something I fugured out after a while and that is the learning curve of the game. it feels still great to this day to easily kill a firemage with my waterpotion. still rewarding. still feeling cheeky. just the feeling inside you, once you have mastered a thing will keep you playing
I already knew I loved McQueeb's content, because he eventually drops info that I just know I've needed to hear... but then he said, "I change kick to the thumb button on my mouse" and I knew that he is my spirit animal because I did the same on day one. Spirit animal. Ya beast. Edit: I paused the vid to type that. And then resuming, he goes on to say, "I bind my water flask to Q." Also. The same. Just wow.
Thanks McQueeb, great first steps. Got about 15 hours of play, then realized I dont know jack squat, and found your channel trying to fix that. Appreciated
i used a potion on myself on level 1 and turned into a fly...then used it on an enemy and he turned into a super advanced slime shooting turret gun...not fair.
I don't know if someone's commented this on your "Perk List" video (I'm new to this channel and haven't seen it yet), but the Bleed Oil perk is really good too! I mean, you still bleed oil instead of blood, but you gain fire immunity! It's really useful for those environmental kills you were talking about.
Noita is such an extraordinary videogame and I'm so glad that it exists. Thanks for making this video dude; great editing, loads of well-presented info and just general good vibez all round 😊
I’ve been really interested by this game since I first saw it, and having seen some of your videos, I’m defiantly getting it, and I’m glad there’s someone as chill as you helping me get started. Really enjoy your content and general vibe.
Literally just had a run with fire explosion and melee immunity. Got teleport dodge and made it all the way to the final boss and teleport dodge moved me into lava and I died. Fuuuuu that was soooooo annoying. Talk about cheeeeaaap
Favorite perks: Tinker Everywhere and Unlimited Spells. Also Perk Lottery if you get it in the first Holy Mountain...you can really rack up the perks with that one.
I bought Noita in the 1.0 release sale. Played a couple of hours and was really struggling, it didn't make much sense to me what I was doing or what I was even trying to achieve. Came back to it again recently wanting to give it a real chance and decided to look up a guide. Found this video. I really like your attitude and style. I will be trying to put some of this advice into practice. Liked & subscribed.
When digging with the luminous drill (the small and green digging beam) do not stick to the surface that you are digging, back off a bit so the spell also clears those small and almost invisible materials
They really outdid themselves with the systems in this game. The physics and all the different elements are super well done. I don't think that people realize how freaking hard it is to make those things work that well. I'm proud to be Finnish when we have developers making games like this! Sorry for broken English :D
Hey McQueeb, really like the content; I'm one of the new subs brought in from the 8 hr run vid you dropped. Would very much appreciate and look forward to that wand building video!!
recently got the game and I have 8 hours playtime so far. I would be lucky to even get to the ice caverns. This was until I started watching one of your vids. the "Noita 1.0 // NINE HOUR classic 11-Orb "everything" run" This let me get a sense of what I was doing wrong. specifically with wand creation. The following run I created a wand from the rapid firing spells, bouncy green balls, 2 damage ups and always fire.(Saw your rapid fire wand and how it worked) this let me reach the end boss and kill it while also collecting 4 orbs. So big thanks for that!
Here's something I noticed. 22:41 Moving the cursor closer on BOMB WANDS will drop the bomb at your feet or lightly cast it. Not sure if it works on other spells but it works on all physical cast types.
McQueeb, I have been loving your videos since I began playing noita almost 2 months ago. I can't get enough. Your voice is one of the loveliest and most calming I have heard! I am wondering -- though it may be impolite to ask -- what is your particular accent a product of?? I notice that many of your rhotics use a hard-"R" such as in Wales or parts of New Zealand -- but some of your rhotic phrases sound downright American! I don't mean to dox you, I am just fascinated. Thanks, and keep up the amazing content!
hello, cool vid! the thing about the controler make me smile^^ i like playing with it too :) having your damage wand right next to your water potion makes you spare a remap button (wich are realy limited compare to keyboard^^)
Small tip: if you have/find a fire potion, use it for escaping by throwing it in front of enemies, the ai of most enemies will not go for you when there's a wall of fire And if you ever get the telekinetic kick use it for enemies, I finished the game by grabbing the statue in the holy mountain and throwing it at enemies, it does so much damage
Another great use of polymorph potion is that while polymorphed you can leave/enter the temple without triggering the temple collapse.

@@ZlZSniP3DZlZ you should be able to head back to the right and get back to the first level.
I think I recall reading that each orb adds 500 max health to the final boss.

lol thank you!
acid potion is also quite great to grab too if you feel comfortable fighting the holy temple boss as you can use the acid to punch through the floor and leave through the hole. this will prevent the temple collapse and now you can go back up and still tinker with your wands as you can explore. i havent had a chance recently as every time i had the potion a worm had already spawned steve for me, but in theory you could punch through under the pools of water in the temple and not damage the temple enough to spawn him.
I totally forgot that temple doesn't collapse if you just exit a different way, such as an acid hole! Thank you for mentioning this
Polymorph maybe your worst nightmare, but it is able to help you carry an extra wand a into Holy mountain, by polymorphing in to an enemy that is able to pick up that wand, you can also use the return spell next to the portal of a holy mountain in order to drop off extra wands/items.
Thank you!
Thanks man, just waiting for the weekend to come and start this wonderful game. Watched all of your noita videos on youtube, you are a legend.
Thank you for this! I completely appreciate your personal approach to this tutorail and how soft spoken you are
Perfect! First you brought this game to my attention and then you provide a beginners guide🙂 you turned this year from horrible to somewhat enjoyable for me.
Thank You Sir
Just bought Noita yesterday after watch a few of your videos, thank you making this!
Ty for this video! I’ve been waiting for this because I want to see if I’ll enjoy the game before I buy.
I just picked up the game on steam and your video has been instrumental in my minor understanding of this obtuse game. Thanks McQueeb!
Well... guess I’ll buy a 1000$ pc for a 10$ game now.
Came for some tips, stayed for the smirks at the end of each segment. Thanks for the help and smirks :)
The brief fade-in appearance of mcqueebs face at the start made me crack up lol. The beanie wizard
Hi! new player, 20 runs in, just figured out how to make wands that do not explode in my face 1 click in, thank you for this video!
I just managed to reach the end: your guide (but even more watching you playing) has been of great help!
Started playing this game a week ago and learned a lot from your videos, love to see that you're doing this additional video for beginners now, thank you ^^
Hello Mr. Queeb,
You should do a spellbook series where you have an archive of short videos that describes each spell individually and showcases interesting interactions. You can also have overarching videos like “Modifiers for Morons” or “Projectiles for the Privy” and discuss them overall. It would act as a great resource, and even the Noita devs could point to it as a reliable source of information!
Your so calm and collected
Appreciate the professionalism in your video guides
(Another good use of polymorphium potion is to increase maximum flight height. If you turn into a sheep, wait for a while (it requires knowledge of about how long the potion works) fly up until you start falling down, then automatically transform back to normal form, and use flying to get higher.)
Like, how do I explain.
You can also shift-click spells to move them from wand to inventory or from inventory to currently-equipped wand
Bro I appreciate this so much I was getting so tired of dragging them back and forth and one by one😂
6:50
that's why I love this game.
Appreciated
Play it as a not hit run was the best tip for me. Got me my very first win after 50+ attempts. Thanks!!
i used a potion on myself on level 1 and turned into a fly...then used it on an enemy and he turned into a super advanced slime shooting turret gun...not fair.
the smallest thing you said just trippled my run thanks!
Loved your heads-on approach. Also, very balanced and thoughtful tips
I just bought this game and I very fast realised that I have no idea what I just bought. This video is really helpful
Good stuff man. I've picked up quite a few of these just from watching your streams, and it's great to see them compiled into 1 video.
Great guide man. This game is so hard but that's why i like it. Looking forward to making it to level deeper than 3
Noita is such an extraordinary videogame and I'm so glad that it exists. Thanks for making this video dude; great editing, loads of well-presented info and just general good vibez all round 😊
I’ve been really interested by this game since I first saw it, and having seen some of your videos, I’m defiantly getting it, and I’m glad there’s someone as chill as you helping me get started. Really enjoy your content and general vibe.
yep, same here
Literally just had a run with fire explosion and melee immunity. Got teleport dodge and made it all the way to the final boss and teleport dodge moved me into lava and I died. Fuuuuu that was soooooo annoying. Talk about cheeeeaaap
Exact same thing happened to me first time I got to the boss lol. Hoist by my own petard.
You just got Noita'd
I opened a chest that was submerged in water and got electrocuted by the wand that was inside it. :(
@@ThePC007 Haha yaa sames happened to me with the Uko heart. Chests underwater are dangerous
Favorite perks: Tinker Everywhere and Unlimited Spells. Also Perk Lottery if you get it in the first Holy Mountain...you can really rack up the perks with that one.
I really appreciate this type of video. Lots of good information without fast cuts and dubstep. thanks!
Your English is great! I rate it 8/10, or like a B+ -- don’t undersell yourself
@@Cocamo1337 Thanks :)
50hrs played. Pretty sure I'm still going to need this...
Another great video from the Noita guru! Thanks for this!
you seem like a pretty chill guy, this video was also very helpful so thanks!
Hey McQueeb, really like the content; I'm one of the new subs brought in from the 8 hr run vid you dropped. Would very much appreciate and look forward to that wand building video!!
recently got the game and I have 8 hours playtime so far. I would be lucky to even get to the ice caverns.
This was until I started watching one of your vids. the "Noita 1.0 // NINE HOUR classic 11-Orb "everything" run"
This let me get a sense of what I was doing wrong. specifically with wand creation.
The following run I created a wand from the rapid firing spells, bouncy green balls, 2 damage ups and always fire.(Saw your rapid fire wand and how it worked) this let me reach the end boss and kill it while also collecting 4 orbs.
So big thanks for that!
the one thing i focused on was wand builds and it did help me a lot
I've been watching this game for about a year (still haven't played yet) and I know alot about it, I learnt a few new things from this though 👍
Same :p Isaac got me into rougelike/lites and I only have consoles no pc :p so I satisfy the itch by watching these vids
you are very calming. i dont play noita but i watch your videos while i eat :D
Dying is noita doesnt bother me, unless im replaying a seed over and over and making the same area mistake lol
Knowing you can seduce the enemies with healing guns is a game changer. Ive been playing for 100 hours and had no idea you could do this.
Extremely valid and useful points here. Cheers brother!
thank you! this games been kicking my ass.
You're exactly what I imagined someone teaching people about noita would be like. (That's ment to be a compliment lol)
Interesting half Australian, half US accent! Cheers for the guide :)
Thanks for the guide, will be looking out for the wand video next!
That was really instructive ! And I agree that a guide for wands would be really useful too!
Never played this game but this video has helped me understand the game more
hello, cool vid! the thing about the controler make me smile^^ i like playing with it too :) having your damage wand right next to your water potion makes you spare a remap button (wich are realy limited compare to keyboard^^)
Finally subbed after watching like 20 videos including the 11 orb and 33 orbs runs ... in full :D
Was waiting for this. ^^
Small tip: if you have/find a fire potion, use it for escaping by throwing it in front of enemies, the ai of most enemies will not go for you when there's a wall of fire
And if you ever get the telekinetic kick use it for enemies, I finished the game by grabbing the statue in the holy mountain and throwing it at enemies, it does so much damage
My favorite Noita RUclipsr
