i hate trying to get into this game because every video is a comprehensive guide with 100 parts in the video and the dude always has like four camera angles and a full size rbg keyboard, liked!
thats because the explanations are built into the video and not something that the streamer has to think up live, structured thought out tutoring vs ad-libbed knowledge dumping.
Loving the content as always. I tuned in to your stream awhile back, I was the guy working on lighters. Back at it, putting on long videos while I tinker with firestarters.
1:06:32 The wrap-around doesn't include the block with the spell which caused the wrap-around, so you don't get twice the effect of the chainsaw. Chainsaw just reduces the delay enough for the want to fire on every frame. The two guides ("Guide To Wand Mechanics" and "Advanced Guide To Wand Mechanics") on the Noita's Gamepedia wiki are very useful, too. I did learn a lot of things from your video, after reading the wiki posts on wand building, but even just reading those two wiki posts improved my understanding of the game significantly. My OP wand of choice so far (early game, first few bosses) is double-spell, add-mana, energy-orb (flying and destroying the ground) or large-splitter-bolt (just damaging mobs) or bouncing-burst (if I have nothing better), and chainsaw.
Personally my favorite spell is bubble spark with trigger. I just love bubble spark in general. It works well with most mods and is just a great all around spell when you can cast it fast.
I have made two spells of mass destruction worth noting. One is essentially a supernova. The basic concept is this (though I had a lot more modifiers than what I am listing): 3-9 triplicate bolts all with firebolt thrower on them, with a modifier from a mod (can't remember the modifier name, but it is a triple cast that pulls your projectiles together including the ones spawned by the firebolt thrower), then add some flames via any method you want and you have a white ball of fire for a few seconds, until it explodes and kills everything in the room. Testing it in the spell lab resulted in over 4,000,000 damage per second at one point with the inclusion of other modifiers (namely one that produced a lot of lingering projectiles, and another one that converts projectiles casted by you into damage when you cast a spell. Only the ones that already existed at the time of casting are converted to damage, meaning you'd have to fire it more than once or have a secondary wand to make the projectiles around you). I first came across this combo in a legitimate run, unlike this next one. The second spell is just ridiculous. I can't remember the specifics, but it was capable of destroying the valley between the tree and the mine entrance along with the mines all the way down to the holy mountain all in one very laggy, high recoil shot. It only did 10,000 damage per shot to an enemy, but it was still capable of annihilating an entire biome in one shot. This was just the result of me messing around in the spell lab. Both of these spells have crashed my game at some point, usually because the game lags so hard it fails to register the fact that I stopped firing 10 minutes ago. If decelerating shot is put on the supernova, it will easily lock up the whole game for 30 minutes. I have timed it, and I wish I hadn't.
I found that if you stack 75 nukes or something like that, you can blast your way out of the simulator room. If you then black hole out of the right edge of the map (death disabled or some teleport + healing) you end up in a normal world (east lake biome).
120 hrs in gameplay figuring stuff out trying to make it to the end. I think that I'll wait and continue to discover new and exciting wand combos. But when I'm at my wit's end after so many fails, I'll come back to get some wand schooling. (I did watch your 6 hr run and learned too much, and not enough!) I'll be back soon!
1:46:55 what if you use a single projectile, but replace the quad spell and 3 bouncy balls with something else, to increase the damage of that single projectile? 1:55:14 I think using the chainsaw at the end of that, since you already have a free slot, could make the wand even more OP. Maybe even removing the need for 6 shots, allowing you to do more damage per shot, less shots in total, and depleting your mana instantly. Though you might want something like 3-shot or 4-shot instead, to balance the mana usage.
with the damage field + tentacle test, I think the problem was you were treating the tentacle like any other projectile, but watching the footage, it seems the damage field doesn't apply across the whole tentacle, just the tip; you were standing so close to the dummy that the damage field only passed through the dummy twice briefly before overshooting on the way out and again on the way back, if you had stood a bit further back in your first try, so the dummy was at the tentacle's full length away, then when it fully extended it would linger for a second before coming back to you, and the DPS would be INSANE
The thing about explosion damage is that the way they are sometimes calculated in video-games is using random raycasts in all directions. I think this is Noita works, so the spells tells you the total damage they do when they explode but since they alsmost never happen inside the hitboxes of their target you never hit all of the damage. They can't tell you it does less than the total maximum damage either or else they would be underselling their potential.
@@SephBane you could probably do this with infinitely timed trigger spells and n-way splitters, but it wouldn't be a pure game of life, since there's not really a way to add neighbor rules.
I succeeded on the 33 orb one with my own design, but it took about 20 minutes. Chainsaw, accelerative homing, 4 turn towards, a bunch of crit on wet and heavy shots (as close to equal number of each is possible, with 1 more heavy shot if an odd number), piercing (I cheated a little and made this always cast to save mana), hexashot, 4 bouncing bursts and a water orb. The spell wraps, allowing the chainsaw to be cast twice and eliminate the recharge time, allowing me to sustain 60 projectiles at once and dealing around 200-300M dps. The lag was awful, even with particles disabled. I have a screenshot but it's not pretty; it turns out criting makes sparks fly that don't get disabled with particles.
The counter-intuitive wand at 19:18 I wonder if it works that way because the multi grabs all the projectile spells at once. If that wasn't the case, if there were projectiles that weren't included in the multi, wouldn't the modifiers then modify only the spells next in line? Edit: which is exactly what you said a few seconds later, right.
I think it would be easier to understand if the game highlighted spell blocks when you mouse-overed multicasts. But think of it like this. First the game sees damage up so it stores "On next cast damage up" Second the game sees quad cast and says "Cast the next 4 projectiles simultaneously." Third the game moves through the wand and picks up the damage ups until it gets to the 4th projectile Fourth the game fires the four projectiles with all four damage ups
I finally got around to trying this, and I also got stuck on 25:50 Gave up after that because I figured it was bugged or not giving me the information I needed. If flying towards the target to increase DPS is the solution, they should have explained that previously.
As you asked early in the video, the spells gave a smaller table of properties and did not used to list cast delay as I got started back in end of 2019(?)
interesting that on multicast III i got better results by putting quadruple spell first and then 3 damage fields between 4 tentacles so separating them like that worked way better than categorizing. i got like 730 damage per second while shooting and falling to let the damage fields stay on target longer
So a thing i was really confused when using chainsaws that when i actually put one at the end of my spell it suddenly shot at like bruh levels of speed. Didnt know that it actually just put the recharge to 0. I'll make some great use of that
Well, now I'm learning all this... and just need to find a good wand AND spells at the same time. As much as I complain, I love the aspect of trying to cobble together the best wand with the junk I'm given 😅🤷♂️ Edit: as I've continued watching, I'm realizing that (past the first 1 or 2 floors) pretty much anything you get has *some* way of exploiting into a serious build. I'm loving the wand engineering in this game!
My only thought is I wish you used the eyeball after you completed the challenges so you could compare your build to the optimum, especially when it came to the velocity damage build wands.
Now you have to do a run where you're only allowed to carry one wand at a time, and you have to figure out how to make each wand as useful as possible through spells.
I actually had a pretty fast wand once in a Game and thought it would be reaaly nice to get an allways Cast on it. Yeah i got Nuke..., but even with that i nerver beat the game. xD
I'm trying this mod out, and I can't figure out how you gave the wand in Always-Cast III the always cast attribute, as it doesn't spawn with it on, and I can't for the life of me figure out how to give it to the wand 25:19
That's something that kind of bugged me about the last few challenges. He just seemed to try the same thing with minor variations, and completely ignored certain modifiers.
Genuinely asking, has anyone gotten mods to work on the GOG version? I'm probably doing something wrong but literally nothing is working. Any links or suggestions of places to go would be great.
Multicast III challenge does not provide the tentacle projectile, or any projectile for that matter. Does this mod require beta branch, or that spell to be found in-game prior?
Yeah it seems to be one of those challenges that require some unlocks prior to playing. A few people are having that problem. I was forced to skip a few myself.
I believe noita ises exploding criticals. If you roll a crit, you have a chance to roll again for a double crit. If your base ceit chance is above 100%, you will always be rolling for the double crit, if its above 200% you will be rolling for a triple crit and so on and so forth.
@@McQueeb I found out why. I have two chrome extensions which remove the 60fps from youtube ("h264ify" and "enhanced-h264ify"), and youtube recently started making 1080p versions for 60fps videos. I only noticed it when I wrote the comment, and I commented after I woke up, so I guess it happened while I was asleep, or before that and I just watched videos which already had 1080p30fps versions generated by youtube.
Ive been having trouble actually getting the mod to start up and it always just starts a normal playthrough even if I have it enabled, how do I make it so it actually takes me to the spell lab mod
I thought bubble spark had +0.08 cast delay Also if you have a good wand you can put bubble spark or spark bolt trigger and after that a chainsaw and i think that speeds it up and when it hits it does really nice damage whit the chainsaw aswell, If you could put a damage up after the trigger spell and then a chainsaw would it cast a chainsaw whit however many dmg ups or modifiers you put on before the chainsaw?
I believe the reasoning behind the reduced explosion damage is directly correlated to the pixels in the explosion. So what I'm thinking is that the particles act like mini projectiles? But the radius being larger increases the damage!? OH they are faster in a larger radius because they need to travel exponentially farther all in 1 frame when it detonates. Right? Did I make any sense? XD
Explosions have a lot of knockback. You never get hit by the whole explosion because the particles are pushing out in all directions from a single point. That way if its piercing all the particles expand from a sing point that would norma6l push the player but with the disc projectile the explosion happens inside the character? Imagine getting hit head on by a car's bumper, kinectic force is reduced due to friction and surface tension. (TLDR) you would absorb more of the explosion. This is beginning to look like the ramblings of a mad man D: I feel like an old age physicist trying to figure out how the world works.

Excellent tutorial right under everyone’s nose Is the wand building tutorial in the Noita Wiki. Just reading that alone completely changed my game.
Hundreds of Noita runs never seen one of the ocarina note spells.
I don't want to spoil where it is, but the ocarina stuff is in a "secret" location.
There are multiple different variations of note spells, all well hidden
they aren't in the spell loot pool
There are two instruments and notes btw, not one. i think its some kind of flute and a harp.

I'm trying this mod out, and I can't figure out how you gave the wand in Always-Cast III the always cast attribute, as it doesn't spawn with it on, and I can't for the life of me figure out how to give it to the wand 25:19
Add the spell you want to add as an always cast to the wand, then at the bottom, double click on it, and it will become an always-cast :D
@@McQueeb Thanks a lot, I couldn't find it anywhere on how to make something into an always cast!
Same here
Holy... I never would've guessed this.
Been waiting for this one
Light shot says it gives 7,5 x the speed so maybe that was what you were lacking there, also the chaotic path with homing wouldve doubled the speed.
That's something that kind of bugged me about the last few challenges. He just seemed to try the same thing with minor variations, and completely ignored certain modifiers.
Could you do a guide on how to obtain the spells you know of?
I've never even played this game and am only vaguely familiar with it, but this shit is fascinating
Genuinely asking, has anyone gotten mods to work on the GOG version? I'm probably doing something wrong but literally nothing is working.
Any links or suggestions of places to go would be great.
I wish I could have watched the original stream, because I have so many suggestions I want to give during that second to last challenge.
Whoa. I didn't know Goki's Spell lab was this dope af. Maybe I will actually not suck at noita! ha.... haaaaha...ha...... ha.
Multicast III challenge does not provide the tentacle projectile, or any projectile for that matter. Does this mod require beta branch, or that spell to be found in-game prior?
Wondering this same thing, running into the same issue
Yeah it seems to be one of those challenges that require some unlocks prior to playing. A few people are having that problem. I was forced to skip a few myself.
This is great stuff man. Thank you!
Awesome video! Thanks bro!

Why does the wand put out more DPS with less “Reduce Recharge Time” modifiers?
Because each one uses mana, so even though the wand shoots faster it also runs out of mana faster. Removing one gives a better balance.
Shift clicking will move spells between the active wand and the spell storage bar.
DAD : ARE YOU WINNING SON?
SON : ITS AN ONLINE SEMINAR DAD, ITS SCIENCE AND STUFF, NOT VIDEO GAMES!!!
I dont really care about noita but just wanted to let you know your thumbnail was funny lol
thank you mcqueeb
I think I learned something but I cant tell you what it was o_ o
Thank you so much for this video!
yes
the *real* noita lore
I believe noita ises exploding criticals. If you roll a crit, you have a chance to roll again for a double crit. If your base ceit chance is above 100%, you will always be rolling for the double crit, if its above 200% you will be rolling for a triple crit and so on and so forth.
How can I play these challenges myself? I installed and enabled the mod, but when I click "new game", it just puts me in the normal Noita game.
OH! There's a thing in the top right you can click to see a menu.
those later wands remind me of electron orbitals
A day after uploading the video, 1080p is still not available, 720p being the maximum available resolution, for me.
That's super weird. 1080p60 for me here!
@@McQueeb I found out why. I have two chrome extensions which remove the 60fps from youtube ("h264ify" and "enhanced-h264ify"), and youtube recently started making 1080p versions for 60fps videos. I only noticed it when I wrote the comment, and I commented after I woke up, so I guess it happened while I was asleep, or before that and I just watched videos which already had 1080p30fps versions generated by youtube.
such a good mod
Ive been having trouble actually getting the mod to start up and it always just starts a normal playthrough even if I have it enabled, how do I make it so it actually takes me to the spell lab mod
there's a little flask icon in the top right i believe, just click on it and it creates a drop down menu
I thought bubble spark had +0.08 cast delay
Also if you have a good wand you can put bubble spark or spark bolt trigger and after that a chainsaw and i think that speeds it up and when it hits it does really nice damage whit the chainsaw aswell,
If you could put a damage up after the trigger spell and then a chainsaw would it cast a chainsaw whit however many dmg ups or modifiers you put on before the chainsaw?
Bro i need your help
I think certain enemies have resistance to damage types most hisi have explostion protection i think but robots take full damage.
Yes!
I'm one year late to this but isn't the whole thing meant to be Noita firing FROM the platform, at a distance, so degrees of firing spread count?
This is beginning to look like the ramblings of a mad man D:
I feel like an old age physicist trying to figure out how the world works.
The arrow doesnt pierce long enough for the explosion to be fully absorbed, unlike the saw blades that persist even after coliding with enemies.
Anyone have the link to goki's wand breakdowns? can't find it in the description
Oh shoot, I forgot. Thanks! I'll find them!
docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Tc83LIMgerqdaPahcIFu5OyW-EtVV1PHSai2JbbXKco/edit#gid=932985043 Check the different tabs at the bottom for different types of wands :)
26:15 bruh the troubleshooting is what's the best. Why remove?
Can you add chainsaws to accelerative damage?
Yes
they fixed the cast delay on recharge time II unfortunately, you can still cheat that one with always cast though
thank you buddy :)
I need this so bad
Goki's sheet seems to be full of symbols I don't understand that aren't available in the final Spell Lab challenge (For 528 billion damage). I managed to get up to 100 million/second (peak 150) but that's still like, slow enough that I'm sure there must be a better way.
I got my peak over 300 million and it's still so slow =
i am pretty sure either ctrl click or shift click on spells in your inventory instantly places them in the selected wand. just felt pain seeing you place them on manually
I want to play an old game i forgot the name but game was amazing back in the day.You had a lot different characketrs and chapters like chapter of pirates and you need to defeat all pirates then chapter of samurai village you need to attack them game had samurais ninja withces wizard pirats do you remember a game if you do please tell me the name.
