    English is not my native language, sometimes I have trouble understanding what people say in English. That's why I love that you speak so slowly and clearly, I can understand everything perfectly, keep it up. Besides, it's a nice video, I finally found out what this ghost do. I was always afraid to take him 😅.

    Bleed oil now grants fire immunity. I'd move this up to god tier at this point: obviously fire immunity is great but now you also bleed oil that can be on fire and damage enemies around you as well.

      @@novatrace5660 it's never going to go above exceptional if oil is slippery and flammable. since fire sets off explosions. now if it granted explosion immunity...
      explosions are dangerous, so dangerous that 40% reduction is still enough threat especially if you are more likely to cause explosions, so you'd need explosion immunity which requires 2 perks. If you need 2 perks to make it useful, why not just have fire and explosion immunity instead?
      Also I believe oil conducts electricity, so you'd like electric immunity as well. You can also kill allies and flasks. It's probably low good tier right now. Also fire everywhere makes your computer slower and the particles that can kill you harder to see.

      @@mikejohnstonbob935 That is assuming your bleeding enough to make that much oil. IMO if Im bleeding that much im more worried about whats making me bleed. otherwise its basically free fire immunity. I would put it next to fire immunity or at most 1 level lower.

    Perk lottery really deserves more love
    It’s the kinda perk you reroll until you get in the first temple (like many of the other god tier perks)

      @@shishkebabro The reason for that is that you _always_ want to take top-tier perks, no matter how late in the game; that's why they're top-tier to begin with. Even with TWWE encountered at the last Holy Mountain you might want to go back an area or two and pick up all the potentially useful spells/modifiers from the wands randomly lying around to prepare for the last boss if you're on a high-orb run, or you might want to explore some more areas for fun or challenges, so it never truly has _zero_ value (let alone negative) no matter how late you take it.
      Perk Lottery is very different because its expected value scales quite sharply depending on where in the run you take it, and this value can be assessed mathematically, though it obviously goes beyond just slapping a 1.75x multiplier on it and calling it a day like the napkin math would suggest. Your expected return is directly influenced by the value of perks themselves, and you can more or less quantify this fairly by separating perks into tiers where the higher tiers have exponentially more value (so, say, first-tier perks are worth two second-tier perks each and four third-tier perks each, with bottom tier being strictly negative value and second-to-bottom being zero value due to being about as situationally detrimental as they are situationally helpful). Add to this that some of the perks have shifting value due to being mutually exclusive or having potential (anti-)synergy with other perks (e.g. some defensive perks make a full step up in value with Projectile Repulsion Field or Fire Immunity present, and some become completely useless with Freeze Field). Finally, keep in mind that pretty much all the best perks (immunities, TWWE, All-Seeing Eye) aren't stackable but a lot of the filler ones are, and you _can_ receive repeats without going to PWs even though they will have lower weight in the pick pool. And since you will always take the most valuable pick first, by all means, most of the _extra_ picks you will get through PL will have lower value than your first, so the overall added value is not 0.75 but in fact roughly somewhere between 0.2 and 0.5 given the difference in value. So let's be conservative and put it as 0.33; in other words, you're getting 1.33 times the perks by value in every subsequent HM after you've picked up PL. You can tweak this correction factor to your liking, but it will always be significantly below 0.75 because that assumes you will always receive extra perks just as valuable as your first picks which is simply not the case.
      With all that in mind, there is a total of seven Holy Mountains in the game. At the first HM the potential benefit of PL is nowhere short of enormous, with only TWWE being comparable, since you can expect to get ten extra perks on average (~8 when corrected for value), and potentially get a shot at more than one first- or second-tier perk at a time which is great all by itself. It is similar at the second HM in that TWWE is probably the only perk I'd still take over PL there just because of how stupidly convenient it is. But around the third, PL already drops a full step in priority, since at that point you will only have four opportunities left to take advantage of it, and that would mean an average return of just over 5. Now, this might still seem like a good value out of context, but at this point if you choose PL over an actual top-tier perk like Fire/Melee immunity or TWWE there's just _no reasonable way you'd make up that loss_ since they often make the run by themselves and the probability to get them in a single no-PW run is so low to begin with. At the fourth HM (~4 extra perks return) even many second-tier perks like PRF, Toxic Immunity, Faster Wands, Vampirism, etc. become a more attractive value proposition as well. At the fifth the added value is already filler-tier because any upper-tier perk will have more impact on the rest of the game than the average 2-3 extra picks you'll get out of PL at this point. At the sixth it is zero _at best._ Finally, at the last HM it becomes _strictly negative_ unlike any other high- or even mid-tier perk, because whether you decide to explore some more or fight the final boss right away you'll have essentially forfeited a perk pickup.
      Obviously, for the same reasons its _priority_ scales much higher on a PW run, but since on a PW run you'll be expected to eventually take every good perk anyway, the average expected return is mainly limited to extra stackable perks, so it's again lower than may seem on paper.
      tl;dr Perk Lottery is incredibly good if taken early on, but falls off much quicker than actual god-tier perks.

      @@moozooh Perk Lottery is the best perk, I don't see a reason not to take it? worst case scenario you miss out on edit wands which is the 2nd best perk imo which also has workarounds like teleporting out and into temples with spells, return spells, black holes to dig out, teleportatium, (obviously not taking edit wands is less convenient, but the work arounds for not taking perk lottery is going to more parallel worlds which is easily much less convenient) and besides that, best case scenario you get all three perks from the one temple resulting in Perk Lottery and Edit wands and X at the same time. Plus I might be missing something but after you finish the game the first few times, excluding runs where you're specifically going for the pillar achievements like sub 1 minute, sub 5 minute runs, why wouldn't your runs continue past the tower and into parallel worlds to get more perks anyway? (unless all the achievement pillars are complete but even then getting out of the tower and getting super OP is more fun imo) Perk lottery just speeds up your ability to get perks which is never a bad thing unless you're already at endgame maxed out perks with all immunities and everything you'd ever want. There's just so many more work arounds for not having Edit Wands that Perk Lottery is the only perk I'd take over everything without thinking about it.

      I agree. Picked it up and right away got to take the other two perks that were there as well. They were bad perks in my case, but if you get lucky with that it could be amazing.

    Here are some synergies and strats ive found both good and bad:
    Homunculus will attack you if you have Plague Rats.
    Gasfire will ignite steam, turning it to water, which will drip like rain. Not great if you have invisibility.
    repulsion field and glitter trail makes the glitter 'pushable'. have fun.
    'No more worm digging' does not affect the dragon.
    repelling cape works on poison and fire but only if you are moving around.
    homing and glitter trail make for a deadly weapon
    No more Knockback prevents you from becoming 'stunned' during flight , falling back to the ground as a result of being hit by something. not fun if you fall into a pit of enemies.(Edit: I find myself doubting this observation but have not yet found it again to confirm)
    telekenetic kick and invisibility work very nice together. throwing actions dont unveil you.
    anything else seems obvious or already mentioned, these are just what ive noticed personally that ive never heard mentioned before.
    Great Video McQueeb! maybe do a video about how different perks lose value or gain value over time. example: perk reroll or extra perk slot become less valuable the further into the run you are, vampirism becomes more costly when you have more health, repulsion field with bombs and stuff. PS, why isnt electricity immunity in god tier? its basically the most instakill run ending damage that i fear the most, even even more then explosion immunitys value or even melee immunity, electricity immunity is better.

      @@marcello9476 hahah, I remember when in the temple of the art, there is a floating crystal (it's called dormant crystal). If you let it to get close and shoot when you stay on the ground, it can just stunlock you for the whole eternity. That how my trick blood money with 940 health and good wands run got ruined. Just full 940 health just got destroyed, because I didn't had no more knockback.

    If you guys are stuck in a any type of terrain just spam "A" "W" "D" keys, it will make a pocket in it so you don't suffocate.

    I think you need another Category: "Situational"
    Also Exploding gold serves no purpose other than to detonate things and start fires. It's useless at best. I'd have put it in detrimental~~~

      I've made it more robust since the perk's intial release. It should be smarter in avoiding the walls and as an additional safeguard it also clears a tiny bit of space so getting stuck should be exceedingly rare if not practically impossible now. I think (but I'm not 100% sure) the fix should be in the released betas now.

      From time to time it can really screw you over, but I can't repeat enough - it saved my bacon much more often. The worst thing that it did to me - teleported into lava fall during final boss fight.

Also I love how you thoroughly explain the ups and downs of the perks, that way even if we as viewers might disagree on one or two placements, it doesn't actually matter, because you're letting us make informed decisions rather than a blanket "this is good, this is bad".

    An interesting fact about the Peace With Gods perk is that any Steves that you encounter will fight for you, and is a good perk to grab if you plan on using the tower

      My first win felt so scuffed. I got a wand with super/boomerang sawblades and found a teleportatium flask in the mines.
      Just warped to the bottom and erased the boss. I learned nothing from the experienced.

    Hey mcqueeb I’ve found out that “concentrated spells” & extra “knockback on spells” perks give extra damage more damage to spells
    Boomerang &/or bouncy spells perks can also make chainsaw, luminous drill, and any other similar spells into projectile spells, which is quite fun

    Current beta has all of the revenge perks gaining some resistances as well, which changes them a good bit IMO:
    Revenge bullets - 20% explosion and projectile resistance
    Revenge tentacle - 25% projectile resist
    Revenge explosion - 25% explosion resistance, explosion doesn't directly harm you and cannot directly set you on fire anymore
    Given that NG+ multiplies the damage taken from every source, any run entering NG+ can benefit from the perks that confer projectile resistance (massively so if you're taking Phasing, Projectile Repulsion Field, anything else that weakens you to projectiles).
    I don't know if they'll be in this exact form when they come into the release branch, but these revenge perks are really quite handy for the resistances, and they're not as shabby as they used to be :D

    Fun fact about the Homunculus: If they kill an enemy, it seems to count as a trick kill. Only reason I realized this is the first time I had this perk and Invisibility (thus was encouraged to simply sneak past enemies rather than fight them), I got the "pacifist chest" even though the Homunculus definitely killed some enemies. And it did not break my invisibility, meaning this may be a decent combo. Not sure if this would apply to the Angry Ghost, haven't tried this perk out yet.

    I've done some experimenting, and in current release (non beta), extra mana will *not* reduce your wand to zero capacity. I stacked like ten of them on the bomb wand and never went below one capa.

    Great Video! The one perk I disagree with is teleportitis dodge, as its field is large enough that I often get teleported into a projectile that I would have dodged.

    Homunculus no longer pick up wands folks, instead they have 4 different projectiles that do tons of damage to the enemy and they can easily one shot a bunch of the hissi base enemies, just wanted to let everyone know

    It's worth noting that High Gravity makes dodging in mid-air much easier, especially Hiisi bullets, but requires Strong or Fast levitation to be amazing. One of the biggest reasons for easier dodging is that basically you can fall on command and without it makes you a stationary target for a split second. Most useful in Ice Caverns, Unerground Jungle and the Vault.

    Vampirism can be tricky to use, but I personally think it's a great perk if you can get it early in the run so that it only takes a single health up to get you back to your starting health or higher. It becomes less useful the longer a run goes, but being able to heal yourself is still very helpful. I'd have it in "somewhat useful" personally.

    Angry Ghost is great! It can fire projectiles as fast as your current wand can, and copies any projectile recently produced. so you can fire a single bomb, then dry fire your fastest wand and the ghost will continuously spawn bombs! I died quite spectacularly in that run.

    always cast is a god tier perk for me. (or maybe exceptional because of consistency). Its the largest source of op wands that i can think of. You just take your fastest wand and slap that perk on and theres a good chance itll either carry you through the game or give you a good laugh

      Someone else commented that the downside is that it spreads fire EVERYWHERE and makes explosions much more likely. Since to mitigate this you’d need explosion resistance it’s a bit of a risk, and having both perks you might as well have fire resistance instead (although the inverse is also true, if you have explosion and don’t get fire resistance but you see this it might be worth picking up)

    Trick Blood Money + Unlimited Spells enables some fun shenanigans. Currently using infinite Homing Propane Tank spells to farm all the gold and healing I could ever want!

    I’ve had the wonderful experience of having angry ghost with a drill wand allowing me to rapid fire enemy projectiles. I died but the four minutes of rapid firing dynamite made me feel like a god.

    4:50 detrimental for exploding gold. It can kill you when polymorphed. That is how I lost one of my god runs

    Great list! I still disagree with perk reroll not being the best and melee immunity being good, but I see your perspective, so it's alright.
    As for new ones, good placements as well. For me, gas fire is a little eh and isn't above good at all, but, for hitless runs, that's very useful. I'd also put peaceful steve and remove lukki and worm digging to detrimental, but only for myself and for those who arent afaird of gods. On your tier list, which is going out to many new players, the placement is good.

    The one problem I have the most with the perk that spawns concentrated mana off of enemies is that in the Snowy Depths it turns to freezing liquid. Ended two of my runs already by accidentally coming into contact with it because I am busy kiting enemies that aren't dead..

    @McQueeb the Living on the Edge perk is now percentage based. It is increased damage at 25 hp OR 25% hp.

    I've heard that Oil blood has a hidden explosion dmg resistance (bit like slime bloods projectile dmg resistance). If that's not just a myth, in combination with Explosion immunity being in the highest tier, it'll be really hard to argue for Oil blood to be the lowest tier. {Edit: I heard from Alias that it's dmg reduction has been replaced by fire immunity instead in Beta branch.} Another niche advantage of the perk is that if you have Freeze field, Oil blood will make it so your blood doesn't freeze. Freeze field being a perk I would rate quite a bit higher as wel. :-p
    How I've understood kills to mana is that it only gives you the stain, I haven;t noticed it making you actually drip the liquid.

      I'm not sure explosion resistance is so great, given that many explosions are also fire producing I can see oil blood kinda defeating itself. Giving fire immunity on the other hand would be much more interesting, would make it like how "lightning" compares to the lightning immunity perk.

    I think you missed one... I saw a perk today (13 Nov 2020) that was a projectile repulsion field segment that looked like it was either on the end of the wand or attached to each projectile (I didn't pick it, as alternative was God Tier). I was running Cheat GUI, but I don't believe by default that any perks are added by that mod. Edit: you're still a damn legend for that first no-hit run :)

    New Perks came out, also I would move bomb materialized down a tier and critical plus up. Teleportitis can be useful for a pacifist run, but its fine.

    So maybe it changed or most people don’t realize it, but “oil blood” on top of the explosion resistance makes you totally IMMUNE to fire. It absolutely is not detrimental, especially when fire immunity is so good.

    Kills to Mana just adds the stain effect of concentrated mana to the player without actually spawning any in the world as far as I can tell, so it shouldn't cause melting of metal or any of the other effects concentrated mana now has.

    I could be wrong but I think kills to mana just douses you in mana and doesnt spawn any liquid so it wont destroy terrain the real downside is that it will be removed by other liquids so it wont work in water and blood baths

    I'm not sure if it's a recent change or it always was that way but:
    Oil blood gives you fire immunity, it's a bit annoying to be a bit slippery at times but if you are flying it's no different than fire immunity, and if you don't get shot to the face by a grenadier then you won't be slippery to begin with.
    it has around the same hazardous nature as "fire gas" except it's already giving you fire resistance.

    Seems like the Homunculus also attacks you when you attack them? I had a run ended after picking up the Homunculus while having the angry ghost perk. The ghost accidentally attacked the Homunculu who decided to attack and kill me.

      Did Angry Ghost get some sort of hot fix? Every time I took it immediately after 1.0 release, it seemed to do absolutely nothing but look cute. I have avoided it since, but maybe they fixed it?

    a 1 capacity wand doesn't lower to 0 capacity with the high Mana low cap perk. it turns the starting bomb wand into a good auto shot wand

    Why is oil to blood detrimental? It gives fire immunity in case you can't find the perk for it

    I got numerous clips of player dying because of the angry ghost : If you shoot a teleport, he will shoot teleports to enemies. If you shoot a fireball (explosive), he will shoot it too, but he will NOT try to avoid the wall that is close to you. As for disks that will bump back to you :)

    11:00 i just want to say that homing + laser emiter with this perk is crazy broken. If you shoot for example 2 spells that cast laser emitter after hit you can oneshoot your enemy even if you miss.

    Increase gravity
    I might be wrong on this one but I think most projectiles that are impacted by gravity will fall quicker and many monsters will miss you by a great margin, that being said your projectiles will be impacted as well.

    Projectile Duplication has this weird downside of potentially ruining dangerous trigger wands. Unless this has been patched, I've noticed sometimes it will just shoot something out of the player that should only have come out of the trigger spell.

    I still take Peace with Gods sometimes. I like being able to edit wands whenever I want to, so if I get to the first or second Holy Mountain and have something to cut through brickwork but nothing strong enough to deal with Steve, it can give me a safe way to get reusable Holy Mountains.

    I think high gravity makes your flight charge faster, it feels like it does for sure but I’ve never tested

    Just want to start by saying--good list, I agree with most things there but--Phasing > Projectile Repulsion Field? I feel like Projectile Repulsion field is wayyy better. You basically can't get hit by slow projectiles rather than having a 50/50 with phasing.

      Repulsion field will impact your spells reducing the accuracy

      The only spell I’ve really seen it negatively impact the direction/aim of is Black Hole (which, admittedly, is a big one). I agree, however, that it’s still better than phasing.

    Happened to me once. I picked up the teleportitis doge perk and it sent me directly into the holy mountain terrain. Now the space I was inside was super narrow, so dodging wasn't too possible. I still like the perk, it helped me with the 3rd biome (frozen wasteland is it, right? I'm still new, only learned about it when it released on steam) and it helped me getting to the jungle biome for the first time. Where I suffocated in the holy mountain.
    Oh well. Thems the dice.

    As I'm playing through (sub 20 hours) I refer to this list when I'm not certain how to build. There seems to be several perks not included; not sure if there's been more added since you made this but Pin Pointer (laser sight on wands) and Extra Item on Holy Mountain aren't on the list I saw some others from my last couple of runs but I've forgotten them specifically.

    Angry ghost is so damn awful when it starts copying lightning bolt or the damn lightning wizards projectile. The explosion at the end of lightning bolt is a seperate projectile, so occasionally, angry ghost will just blow up, which will hit you. I've had a run ruined by angry ghost, never again.

    The only thing I highly disagree with for sure is the homing shots being exceptional, I think it's straight up detrimental unless you only use attack spells. I love to have a teleport wand and constantly dodge enemies, and one time I had a luminous timer with explosion of brimstone as a combo, which needed me to be close to an enemy to hit obviously, so I would just teleport behind an enemy and BAM... it was epic. I don't know what many of the perks do exactly and I didn't watch your first perk tier list video (or I would've mentioned this there instead), I actually thought this was gonna be a full relisting of every perk with how long it was. 😆
    Also I think the wand experimenter perk where you heal from using newly found wands, is absolute hands down top 5 at least best perks in the game, because healing is SO hard to come by and it heals you A TON compared to most methods, as well as being extremely reliable since wands can be found fairly often.

    Important thing: No More Knockback is actually pretty exceptional, it does NOT remove wand knockback, only enemy knockback, like stunning (i think) and being thrown around by those grenade Hisii and such!

    Remove Worm/Lukki Digging is interesting. I've not found the want to take it, but for those who have -- do you find that worms/spiders are *harder* to hit since they can effectively just hide inside terrain which will block your shots? That's my main concern about it, it sounds like it'd make fights much harder.

    Gas fire has the unfortunate side effect of lighting you on fire all the time if you're using an explosive or fire-based wand. The smoke from your wand will catch fire all the time and sap your health over time. At least that was my experience with it, I won't get it any more unless I already have fire immunity.

    id move boomerang spells up a little bit. it has a lot of faults with explosives, but the boost in damage is really nice and i prefer machine gun like wands. usually ill get it with some immunity and i become unstoppable.

      He had ranked it detrimental in the first video when the game was still in beta and didn't provide fire immunity (it only gave a 40% reduction in explosion damage)

    Empty the starting bomb wand, shoot a spell at the angry ghost, then use the empty wand to turn the ghost into a machine gun that uses no mana. Any fast wand works

    I don't like how the reload perk is only wands you currently carry instead of any wands you use. IMO that is why it's not that great of a perk, especially early game.

    I've only ever seen a streamer take teleportitis dodge one time. It seemed to launch them really randomly, quite some distance, well outside the frame they were in when hit. It looked really awful. I wonder if it's different by seed?

    Phasing increases the damage you take from projectiles by 33% as well -- so if the shot makes it through it does pack a punch. I'd pretty much say never take that perk coming into the snowy depths, the sniper bullets really, REALLY hurt with that one.
