I have a similar Simmons set from the last gen. I LOVE IT! I'm a bassist/rhythm guitarist and just wanted to practice drums more so I could impress my jam mates. Plus beating things with sticks is great for stress relief.

    Hi, thanks for that review.
I would state, that in these days it is not important how the drum module sounds, but something like, how is the response, playability and the generated MIDI dynamics. :)
I love VST drumming. I am still using the Millenium MPS850 pads for the toms and octobans and Lemon 🍋 cymbals. Ok, I use some DIY snares to have positional sensing on the eDRUMin10 modules and I go straight into a drum VST. Preferably the company with the T. Damn, that is awesome! Sounds great.

Sure, you can use a VST for sound, but that requires a computer, and I don't have one, so sound does matter. Also, your setup is interesting in that you combined a couple mid-range e-kits. Personally I feel the point of an e-kit is ro get one that is very similar to an accustic kit for quieter practice and an easier transition between the two. For the money you spent making your e-kit you could of just gotten fantastic higher-end e-kit that has phenomenal sound and plays 99% like an accustic drum set.

Simmons back in the day were making the best electronic drums possible. They were heading in the direction of accustic like e-kits. Unfortunately these days Simmons has no interest in making accustic realistic e-kits. They claim there are other companies doing that and at Simmons they feel an electronic drum set does not need to mimic an accustic kit as they are different. Because of this I can not recommend Simmons. I feel an e-kit should be as close to an accustic drum set as possible not only for quieter practice but also so the transition between the e-kit and Accustic kit is as seamless as possible. Also a good accustic like e-kit is something you can use on stage. Woukd you use a Simmons e-kit on stage? Also if you are learning drums on an e-kit wouldnt you want one that mimics an accustic kit so it would allow you to actually learn drums accurately? For some studio work Simmons may be ok but for a serious drummer the e-kit has to be as close to an accustic kit as possible.

I think it’s okay for a beginner to learn on a kit like this, it’s priced for early entry. Similar pros and cons as a cheaper acoustic kit

The drummer for The Band Geeks Andy Ascolese makes those ekits rock.

Why are you writing essays under every video of this kit? did it hurt you?
