- You’ve seen the image by now: Former President Donald J. Trump has blood running down the side of his face. He’s being escorted off his rally’s stage by the Secret Service, and he pauses to look at the crowd, his fist proudly in the air.
It’s too soon to know how the attempt on his life on Saturday in Pennsylvania will affect the outcome of the race. But Trump’s allies have already made the shock of the assassination attempt, and the violence, part of a clear political message.
To hear them tell it, Trump and his party are under attack.
This sense of persecution has long been core to Trump’s message. And the events of the weekend will only amplify that.
Today, as the Republican National Convention gets underway, we’re digging into that message with the Trump supporters who most embody it. And we’re doing so from their unlikely headquarters, where they gather every evening in Washington D.C.: outside the D.C. Jail.

Imagine what the son must have seen and felt to do something like that. You are talking about snitching but totally dismissing the fear and disillusionment that a child must feel to do something like this. I remember seeing the son on tv years ago and the kids, just like much of America were startled to see their MAGA parents undergo such a transformation. The parents could no longer distinguish right from wrong, good from bad … dad became violent and aggressive &just like many Americans, they didn’t know what to do when seeing their parents under the influence of… something… and suddenly making strange decisions. It’s tough, sad and extremely scary. But you would rather blame the child. The kids didn’t change, many bipartisan members of our community didn’t change, Trump supporters changed. You don’t even realize that you are under the influence of foreign governments, politicians who are using you for power, money and nefarious purposes. And while you may say the Dems are too… the cable news & media subscriptions are imploding… Biden is losing support & ppl attempt to push him off the Dem ticket and Americans demand the Democratic Party make changes… because many are not aligned or brainwashed by one person, party or news source… the goal is to support democratic values in America. Snitching?? The kids became scared of their parents… the son was in CNN discussing it, how he secretly called police when they were scared of the parents.

@@JayNo420 no I am just not willing to disregard how they feel. These weren’t small children and I have “children” in their 20’s who I now have a great relationship with after surviving their teenage years. They have memories too, they were paying attention and in some ways can know you better than you know yourself or at least they are cognizant when something is going on… even if they don’t know exactly what it is. Now, I realize that they knew something was wrong or behaviors had changed… even though they may not have known why. One day they can have a discussion with their parents… but currently, they were scared so much so, that they didn’t know where to turn so they thought 💭 safety… ok, call the police. It’s not about them being right or wrong… it’s the implication that they were in fear of their safety and/or that of others.
