  • So this is what happens when your brother, who lives in another state, passes away and leaves you with a gardening nightmare to tend with. Luckily, the customer found me, and I was more than happy to help with this cleanup. The brief was pretty straightforward - get the place back into shape, ready for a deceased estate sale. I was given complete freedom to do whatever needed doing, as quickly as possible, to get the property back into shape and looking good. You know I love a challenge, so sit back and enjoy. This job took me around 12 hours to complete, with 2 trips to the landfill. This is part 1 of 2.

    FAQ's:
    Q: Where are you located?
A: I am from Hobart, Tasmania, Australia 🦘.
Q: Do you worry about snakes?
A: I have never even seen a snake in over 5 years on the job.
Q: Which equipment do you use?
A: Mostly STIHL power equipment (battery and petrol) and commercial Honda self-propelled mowers.
Q: How much do the jobs cost?
A: Sorry, I prefer not to talk about costs.
    Q: What happened to Nick?
A: Nick was offered a full-time position at his other job as a Political admin.
    Q: What happened to Brent?
A: Brent quit at the start of August 2022.
Q: Why don't you use tarps instead of bins?
A: Tarps are too difficult to move through small spaces and lift into the trailer. The same for wheelbarrows, they are only good for unloading the trailer!
Q: Why are the hot water cylinders outside?
A: I would say it's because Australia had a temperate to tropical climate, and therefore it doesn't matter that much if they are outdoors. To me, though, it seems a bit inefficient to have them outside in Tasmania with a temperate climate (coldish for 3 - 4 months per year). But that is industry standard down here 🤷‍♂️
Q: Why are you cutting so close to your employee?
A: I'm not cutting too close to my workers, they are standing too close to where I am working! All of my workers have been told numerous times about standing too close to the tools and about the hazards involved!
Q: Why do your workers do all the lifting and carrying?
A: Basically, they are employed to carry things and I pay them well, to do the job required.
Q: You work so well together, how do you do it?
A: That's the magic of editing. My workers are basically given instructions on what to do, I just edit it all out, so the videos look seamless!
Q: Why don't you have help?
A: I've had many problems with employees in the past, so now I work alone.
    Q: Why don't you have a ride-on mower?
A: Well, there are a few reasons.
    1. I don't have the right trailer for a ride on, considering I always take away the green waste.
    2. I don't have anywhere to store it, as my shed is too small.
    3. A lot of the properties we do have fences and gates, so you can't actually get a ride-on on to the properties.
    4. I don't do enough big jobs to justify spending 15k AUD on a stander, but it would be nice to have one!
    5. I will get one as soon as my transport and storage problems are solved.
Q: What happened to your workers?
A: Because the work is so hard and I expect high standards, most have quit over time. The only exception so far is Nick.
Q: What types of ladders do you use?
A: The large one is a Gorilla Adjustable Platform 150kg and the small one is a Gorilla Mighty 19. They are both adjustable.
    Q: Who/what is Jim's Mowing?
A: Jim's Mowing is a franchise business. The Jim's Group is the biggest home services franchise in Australia.

George, you do the most thorough garden transformation of anyone I have ever seen on RUclips. You carry off the waste which many others do not do. Your before and after shots are always long enough so I can get a good look at the changes. Also, George, your captions are very helpful. Living in the USA I am unfamiliar with many of the plants.

What a lovely little place. Pity about the road noise. Must be near a major road or highway by the sound of it. I loved this garden, especially the red Japanese maple and the little Crabapple tree. I rushed over to Google when you said Mediterranean Spurge, but I see it's another name for Euphorbia which I know it as, lol. You did a fantastic job, as usual, cleaning it all up. Quite a sad storey that this gentleman passed away. 😢 I can't believe family looters broken in & stole stuff. WTH? Why not just ask?
Now that there is money to be made from having an estate sale, now family want the place cleaned up.
You did a very good job of the front garden George. It transformed the front of the property and made the house stand out. Very pretty Japanese bush blowing in the wind.
I can't stand those round bushes every garden seems to have. They get out of control if one doesn't keep them cut round.
And vines, Agapanthas & furs, seem to be in almost every garden.

I recently watch another youtuber powerwash someones driveway. It was covered in dark green and black build up. I watched til the end with baited breath to ensure the job was completed, but nooooooo. He left all the brick edges of the driveway, the garage and even a 4 ft section of sidewalk going from the drive, to the front door......still coated in black and green. I could not keep my mouth shut. I asked why he left them that way and his answer was...."i wasnt paid to". 🤯 to which i replied, ive watched people do these jobs for FREE and be more thorough!
People like YOU have raised bar sir!! You ALWAYS GO ABOVE THE STANDARD! 👏👏👏👏👏❤💥

You are awesome. It's great to see good in this season of world unrest. As mom always says about world unrest. I still have dishes and bathrooms to clean. Just be doing what needs to be done. Blessings to you and your mate for helping people who lose loved ones. When loss is close to home 🏡 you can't go on well. Gratefully impacted by your agape.

I really appreciate you putting names to the plants as you are working on them. Some may not care but I love to garden and like knowing the names of plants.
Looking forward to your back yard transformation on this one. A real shame the relatives decided to rob the place and leave a mess.

I really like the way you go that extra bit out of your way to tidy things up, hammer a nail or two in to make the fence look good or put in a screw to hold something together, I really appreciate it with the natural sounds, no music. it takes away from this being a natural experience. So all in all 2 big thumbs up. 🙂
