  • I'm so excited to share this weeks video with you all. This community garden was in desperate need of some help - especially since there was no safe access! The sidewalks were completely overgrown and covered - so I spent 16 hours there and got them usable again. I was so so thankful to have met some great people and also be invited to their growing party in a few weeks.
    Love the community I live in and so thankful I get to do this work!
    You all keep asking so here are the ways you can support the channel! So appreciate it!

    Our first home was in a poorer neighborhood. The first spring my husband went out and swept the gutter and street in front of our house. Soon all the neighbors were out doing the same.😊 I was planting my garden spaces and offered neighbors plants I was thinning. Soon our whole block was lifted to a space filled with friendship and beauty! All it takes is someone to start!❤

      This is Metro Detroit. The population has been constant for 50+ years, but the size of the metro has grown (doubled in area? I don't have exact figures). The city in this video is one that has emptied out in favor of outlying areas, losing tax revenue in the process. Pretty typical of Midwestern cities, a fairly constant population migrating outwards, leaving older cities to fend for themselves. Metro Detroit has some older suburbs that have flourished. I happen to live next to one. This one needs help, and I'm glad to see it happening.

    A company needs to sponsor a wood chipper for you. You can return all the mulch back into the trees. Save you some money. And maybe even provide some mulch for the community gardens at the same time. Come on corporate America. This man needs some equipment.

    • @AdamBragg
      @AdamBragg 28 дней назад +36

      That's a great idea! Also, putting piles of dead wood into the forested area increases the risk of brush fires, so having a wood chipper to mulch the trees would be better on several fronts. Hopefully some manufacturer or seller sees this and steps up.

      @@fjklfdasdf You are correct, but as with many things, it is only good in moderation. Typically, these channels show large amounts of dead wood being removed from the cleaned up area. If all that wood is being "relocated" (ie. dumped) into a single location, then the risk of it starting a fire becomes greater than the benefit.

    Elephant in the room here. Where's the city's workers? I'm talking taxes! I'm from Delaware and thankfully residents here just have to call who's responsible. I am impressed with the quality of yard work you do, for free. Young man, keep whipping and you'll reach 100 thousand in no time!

    • @Wheel_Horse
      @Wheel_Horse 28 дней назад +18

      In some cities, keeping the sidewalk clear falls on the property owner. It's not clear if the city owns that property, or if it's some 3rd party. It appears that at one time there may have been a home on that lot since there is apparently a driveway apron. If there is a 3rd party owner, it's clear that they've abandoned the property. BUT, in any case, the city should still be responsible at the end of the day, either finding the property owner and compelling them to maintain the property or biting the bullet and at LEAST clear the sidewalk.

      Bigger Elephant - if these people consider themselves a "community" and they're all gardeners, then why can't THEY VOLUNTEER their time to spruce up the property. Disgusting that everybody thinks 'they" should do something about it meaning the government, but nobody wants to pay taxes for it. Do you think city workers are manna from heaven? It's high time "communities" do their own work.
