This one had me smiling with memories :) the first time I tested the uniflow against other measures was with a reduced charge of 7.5 grn unique for 45 Colt loads :) I used a Lyman digital scale for the testing and the first ten charges from the uniflow was dead on and I only had one out of twenty a tenth off. Repeated and got two out of twenty a tenth off. I did two taps of the handle before throwing, two at the top and repeated the two at the bottom to make sure any hang ups came out. To this day it's my first choice for flakes, but I don't use powder/bullet scales for weighing powder anymore. I use powder only scales, but I do have a nice old Redding 325 grn max oil dampened scale I'll use for powder sometimes. I wish the LEE scale wasn't so fussy! I'd use it because it is very accurate, but too fussy for me. I also like triple poise scales rather than double.

That's why the Redding #3 costs more then the RCBS.
Both are great powder measures, just depends how deep your pockets are.

That Redding is really nice. Interesting how they built an insert stem and chamber instead of a second drum.
@@TreeTopFlier yes! It makes swapping out easy and no worrying about any differences in mating surfaces with different drums. 🤛🏻🔫🇺🇸

Great video, Walter! I was loading earlier this week (45 Colt with Unique) and was seeing this inconsistency with my LEE dropper. I thought I was doing something wrong or the dropper was just not up to the job. It was all starting loads, so I was not concerned for safety. Thank you for easing my mind!
@@marcthomas2482 yep..Unique can be finnicky to meter. A tenth here or there won’t be noticeable at the distances we shoot! 🤛🏻🔫🇺🇸

Corser is my word to describe the RCBS Uniflow measure. Now you may want to compare the large powder micrometer on both measurers and the places where there is a good overlap between pistol and rifle measurements with each powder measure.

Happy July Walter, So,, (Don't worry, the roar you hear isn't from Trors Axe's B-52 making a run to Bomb your video, it's from the Airfield you live next to) Hehehe... It's great that you are comparing the two Powder dispensers side by side, the Redding as expected has a better fit and finish build quality and they do a great job, however, the RCBS is in a (acceptable Quality) for the money of what you would pay for in dispensers of this type. I agree with you 100% as what makes one better than another, they both do the same thing evenly. Just that the Redding "Feels" better and that might make a slight bit of Throwability easier, I believe it is a user preference and there are RCBS fans and there are Redding Fans. that is the only difference between the two. Are you going to test the larger stick powders?
@@woodman8261 Hi, Woodman, and thanks for stopping by. I won’t be doing any of the stick powders in this series right away as these measures are all about handgun loads for me. However..I do have the ability to do so, and may well go after that aspect before too long. 🤛🏻🔫🇺🇸
Would using lapping compound on the area around the barrel of the thrower help smooth it out , 2000 grit paste or the finest grit you can find?
@@tacticalrabbit308 hi M1. Thanks for stopping by. The mating parts of the RCBS are smooth enough. In fact, the fitment may actually be a bit too loose as compared to the Redding. It just has a different feel to it. 🤛🏻🔫🇺🇸
