I have been beading for around 50 years doing various stitches. Your video is very easy to follow and your voice is very comforting and calm. The presentation is very easy to follow.
I've been beading for about 30 years, and I really like your video. It's the most accurate description and you show how to deal with thread tangles in real time. Broken Arrow, is nextdoor to Tulsa, Oklahoma. Great work, and all the best!
This is so well delivered and easy to understand! I wish there were more beading videos like these, they encourage my desire to learn difficult projects such as these ❤️ please keep up the amazing videos
Great tutorial video! You are an outstanding teacher! As a beginner at beading in general I sometimes struggle catching on to tutorial videos, sometimes causing me to abandon a project because I just can’t get it. Definitely not the case here, you make this very understandable and I appreciate the tips and tricks learned only from experience that you also share along the way! Thanks so much for a wonderful video!
Thanks for reminding part way though, 36 beads to start, we are adding the next 18. You are a good teacher. I am looking forward to beading a case for my candle lighter 🥰 I used to bead when I was a youth, but have not since then, and think it will be a nice way to spend my home time
THANK YOU! You take the time to actually teach the stitch. The other videos skip the beginning of the project, which I probably would have given up if you hadn't. Thanks for saying this is the hardest part of learning peyote stitch.
Hello, I would like to say. I totally love you tutorial. It is very easy to follow. Also very clear. No confusion what so ever. Looking forward to seeing more tutorial videos. Thank you so much my sister beader.
What thread and needle do you use for the 10/0 or 11/0 beads? I am currently using beading needles and am looking for something less expensive and fragile! Mvto!
Thank you for explaining how to do the 3 drop Gourd stitch. I know this video is kind of old but I was wandering if you could do a tutorial with a tubular item like a dowel doing the 3 drop Gourd stitch on odd count??
Mary Williams hi Mary thank you for watching. I suppose it would depend on how large your dowel is for the number of beads to go around. And that number would have to be divisible by 3. Hope this helps. For example If you can wrap around 12 beads then divide by 3 that would =4 groups of three.
@@brokenarrowbeads3354 the dowel is not that big it is one of those dowels that you can get at Walmart or Hobby Lobby but the bead count formula always comes out odd count. If you could do a small tutorial for odd count 3 drop gourd would be so helpful.
I just did that took me 5 attempts but thanks to this video I figured it out for the Dowell that I done needed 18 3 groups of 6 and adding 9 beads to each row as you step up now I'm looking for the paper and designs to start creating my own thanks again Broken Arrow Beads such a wonderful teacher
You should make a separate video on how to read a pattern and show which one bead to thread on the pattern as it comes. I'm looking into making one using a pattern but theres no good videos that I can find of people using a pattern. Thank you love your video! Subscribed
Hi there. I’m not sure how to increase in peyote stitch, but from what I’ve learned about this 3 drop stitch is that one can increase in this stitch or decrease to be able to go around odd shaped containers.
Hi. Have you ever done this using the mini bic lighter? I hope you do a video tutorial showing a small lighter also. Would you do the bead count the same way as the regular size lighter? Thank you for teaching this
@@brokenarrowbeads3354 size 15/0 seed beads. I watched your video on doing the bottom of the lighter I hope you have a video on making that design. I can't read a pattern but if I watch and do it with the person I make notes. I can follow a word pattern but not the picture type. I did good with following you on the red and silver lighter cover
Hi thank you for watching. For the thread I usually use about an arms length, or length that I feel comfortable with so that I can manage any tangles that may happen. When I get close to the end, I will leave the old needle and thread on, and add by weaving the new thread through the beads. I will weave the thread through enough times till it feels secure when I tug on it. Then Ill weave the thread through to the bead where the old thread. Is coming out. With the old thread, i will weave that back through, careful to not force it through so I dont break any beads. Then Ill cut the old thread very close to the beads. Then I ll continue with the new thread, where I left Off. I hope this helps and not too confusing. Probably a video would be better.
Do you knot the thread end before cutting or is it secure in the weave without when adding the new thread? And what do you do for the bottom? Do you bead that too or use leather?
Hey, another question from me lol. Have you done any small bic lighters & does the number of beads going around the lighter need to be even? I’m also using his under my beads do you have any tips? Thank you so much your video has helped me out a lot for my first time making a beaded light case I’ve made 2 cases already!! 🙂
Hi Melissa Black, I have not done a small bic lighter just yet. It is in my to do project list though. Once I do something like that I will share. Thank you for watching
I have a question about the number of beads in the beginning 54. How did you come up with that number for size 10's. I like working with size 11's or higher. I'll probably have to practice with size 10's first. Just wanted to know how you came up with the number 54.
Maria O Padron I strung some beads and wrapped them around the lighter. Then i divided by that number. It has to be divisable by 3. Thank you for watching. I used size 10 beads
Hello, thank you for the great video! Unfortunately the size of my beads doesn't allow me to use the 3drop gourd stitch, can you please make a video using the even count peyote stitch? Thank you for inspiring me!!
Hi. What size of beads are you using?, I have been working on another lighter cover. I will be posting as soon as completed. Thank you for your kind words. :)
Hello, thank you for your answer! Sorry for the late reply, I use size 10. Could you explain me if there is any difference between the peyote stitch charts for even or odd count and if the charts work for either round or flat work. I'm a bit confused. Thank you very much 😊
It'll depend on the size of beads you use. Start by determining how many beads to fully circle around the lighter (or whatever object you are beading). The total has to be divisible by 3 (6 is even better). In the video, her total was 54. 54÷3=18 so she removed 18 leaving the 36. The 18 she removed will be added back in as she does the first row. A hint, use a little shorter thread on the first row. It's easier to handle while you're getting the beads established.
This isn’t three drop gourd. It’s just gourd. That’s the natural formation of the stitch three drop indicates some specialty designs when really it’s just the regular gourd stitch. I’m only saying because it’s a common mistake beaders make causing slot of confusion. I seek to remedy this confusion.
Wrong, if it's in increments of 3, it's "3 drop. If it's increments of 2 it's 2 drop", there is no "drop". Checking your RUclips channel, I couldn't fail to notice you have posted zero beading tutorials yourself.
blunky flavz you can weave the thread through the already completed work and then weave the new thread through a different spot on the completed work and then begin at where the old thread ended. Make sure to remember where this was. Otherwise the pattern will be off.

Very nicely explained tutorial -very clear -thank you!
Great video, great teacher♥

Can u show a video on how to d[ a beaded bottom for lighter case. I really like that look

I did like your video the only problem I had was stringing the beads when I did 36 it covered the whole lighter with no gap like you had.
Thank you for the amazing vid! Happy to start beading:)

How long do you keep your beading thread? Or do you just add some if it gets short? And how?

Beautiful work. I'd love to know where you purchased your beads, they look to be uniform in size and color. Thanks.

Thank you for doing this video

Wag do u do with the string wrapped around the lighter?
