Rather than sticking to that refutation and building your whole belief system on that refutation, why not go back to that matter regarding which sheykh Wasiullah refuted Abu Khadeejah? May Allah preserve them both.

The Prophet sallallahu allahi wasalam said "He among you who lives long enough will see many differences. So for you is to observe my Sunnah and the Sunnah of the rightly-principled and rightly-guided successors, holding on to them with your molar teeth. Beware of newly-introduced matters, for every innovation (bid'ah) is an error."(Abu Dawud, Sahih) It is easy to call someone extreme or moderate when we do not educate ourselves about our aqidah. If Allah wants good for his servant, then He gives him understanding of his religion. Allah said that they don't cease to differ except by the mercy of Allah.(Quran) The Messenger sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said that any innovation is not accepted by Allah and "I warn you of the newly invented-matters (in the religion), and every newly-invented matter is an innovation, and every innovation is misguidance, and every misguidance is in Hellfire." Brother, I used to have the same view as you. Alhamdulillah, Allah guided me once I started to read the Quran more and became sincere and constant in seeking knowledge strictly from the Quran and Sunnah alone. I know it may confuse some about what it right and what is wrong but we must remember Allah guides those who are not the wrong doers and Allah will make it clear to them by is mercy. So we must continuously pray for guidance for we never know when we might be blind about a matter. Guidance is increased and decreased depending on our actions of good and evil and what their intentions are. May Allah keep us guided on the straight path.

How much have we memorized?.. is it possible that we we deem uplifting and protecting Islam is just an ego boost or diverting ourselves from self purification which is much difficult and more important than nitpicking people's online statements without ever having met them or talked to them about the issue?
