Fun fact: Bill actually kept his end of the bargain with dipper back in episode 4. By destroying the laptop, it allowed them to gain a clue about mcgucket. So basically, Bill does keep his word but in a weird cosmic sort of way.
After rewatching the series, bill calls everyone by their symbol. Pinetree, Shooting star, Glasses, Etc.

@@F2PAlius Unless I'm forgetting he only calls Dipper, Mabel and Soos by their symbols. He refers to Gideon by name instead of like pentagram and "the other guy" as sixer.
I'm guessing Bill is trying to slow down their mystery solving, in order to get whatever Stan's trying to do.
Before, he wanted Gideon to do it when he owned the Shack.
Perhaps it's a trade off, like he rather have them figure it out when it's broken, than getting it straight out of the laptop when it can work to track whatever's beneath the Shack.
Edit: apparently I don’t remember the show that well, and everything below this is false. No clue how this happened.
-Bill didn’t promise to help find the author though, he promised “I’ll crack this laptop right open”, which he did proceed to by throwing it on the ground and stepping on it, literally cracking it open.- Cool thought though

The code to get stuff from the vending machine is a good example of a famous time travel paradox. It's fun because if you think about it no one actually figured out the code to getting free stuff, they both teach it to each other which means both of them shared knowledge that neither of them invented

Seeing the after credits scene in Soos's birthday episode made me have a whole new level of appreciation for him. Since season 1 he clearly had so much respect for Stan despite his tough exterior and cheating ways. Tries to comfort Stan after his wax self got murdered. Puts on his hat trying to look like him. Even making Stan mouth "I love Soos like a son". He is no doubt best male character in the series.

What's funny is the first message he tapped "Coyotes are coming for our sweetbreads" is actually pretty clever because any experienced cook will tell you "Sweetbreads" is calf brains. Bascially "Coyotes are coming for our brains" XD

He must have experienced something weird immediately after that, and the Blind Eye erased part of the memory where she said her name rhymed with table. I mean, probably not, but plausibly yes.
I think the fact that Stan is like a father to Soos is foreshadowed in Dreamscapers, when Soos makes Stan mouth "I love Soos like a son!"

Creepy Tales to Sell My Merchandise is the only non-canon episode! So there isn't a cheapskate in the gift shop - but there is a mirror labeled "the most dangerous creature" lol.
Edit: Shoutout to the writers for having Mabel think the Queen of the Manatees is beautiful. It's too common for ladies to insult other ladies.
On top of that latter part, I just love when Mabel and Wendy defend Lazy Susan after Soos made an insensitive remark.
It was an angle I didn't expect to see from these cartoon characters and it made them feel more real to me
While it is common, i feel like it’s a jealousy thing and less gendered. Of course they tend to make women jealous more than men, but it’s def a case of “I’m still better!”.
That said, it’s more in character, kinder, and funnier for her to be less jealous and more just really sad cuz of how cute she is
In retrospect that letter from Mermando may have been a subtle plea for help... Which Mabel totally missed and ignored.
Excuse me but what is 12 year old Mable supposed to do there? Hop on her magic submarine and scour the seven seas for some undersea kingdom? Then prevent a marriage which the letter CLEARLY STATES was made to prevent a civil war? Yeah sure.
Back when the show was airing, people got close to solving who wrote the journals before the reveal. To counter this, Alex Hirsch made a fake image of McGucket writing the journals, posting it on reddit with the image on a TV, as if it was an actual leak from disney, and even tweeted that he was angry. This was done to get people off the trail
Edit: fun little fact since you guys were reading the names of who had their memories erased. One of the tubes is labeled "R. Sanchez" as a reference to rick from rick and morty. There’s actually a lot of connections between the two shows, and the creator of Rick and Morty, Justin Roiland, even voiced the time traveler guy
Ahh, the Soos episode, my beloved!! The ending shot almost brought me to tears. Hits different when you're older

I know you wrote this a year ago but I still wanna bring up the question. Isn't that episode the only one that's non canon ?
I mean Gideon was shown to be a cunning, manipulative little shit who has the whole town in his hands in the show. Not only that, but before the Pines twins arrived this summer, Gideon has mind powers due to the mystic amulet that he found, so I'm guessing that Bud didn't wanna cross him and just let him be. Also Gideon is a big money maker in the family so that might have something to do with why Bud didn't wanna delete his son's memory.

Fun fact: in episode 8, Blendin’s Game, Soos’ Abuelita says that she’ll “rip him (soos’ dad) limb from limb if he shows up.” It’s all in Spanish so I imagine that’s how they got away with her threatening murder upon him lol

are you guys planning to react to the special feature, "Behind the Pines"? it's basically an interview with Alex Hirsch about random trivia, the origins behind certain jokes, etc. If you aren't I still very much recommend watching it at your freetime, it's a fun watch especiall if when you've finished the show

In Rick and Morty, in the season 1 finale, Rick is opening several portals to confuse the Rick society. One of those protals, you can actually see that same exact mug, pen, and notebook come out.
Fun fact: the stuff that Stan accidentally drops in the portal at the end of episode 7 falls out of a portal in Rick and Morty (the scene where Rick and Morty are running from the Council of Ricks and Rick makes a bunch of portals to confuse them)

I’m not on the patreon so i dont know if you’ve started amphibia already but it is DEFINITELY worth the watch, in my personal opinion it’s my favorite cartoon even before the owl house and gravity falls. it’s just an amazing show
If I'm not mistaken, the original script had soos wish to see what would make him happy and he went to the future and saw himself being a good dad to his own kid. Don't remember why it was changed but interesting to think about.
If we want to talk shows related to the staff who worked on Gravity Falls, it’s highly recommended you check out Inside Job. The episode the creator worked on the episode “not what he seems”, and Hiersh is a producer on it.
McGuckit had a son before. The guy at the bait shop called him "Dad" way back in the Gobblewonker episode
Based on what we see in the episode, the memory eraser gun doesn’t actually erase memories. It more so breaks the references between memories so that you just cannot remember them. They’re there, but you cannot recall them without some sort of reminder.
We've met mcgucket's son. He is the manager at The boat shop in legend of the gobblewonker. He even says that McGucket is his dad and McGucket built the gobblewonker for the purpose of getting his son's attention

The thing about the Infinite Pizza is that it only works for Soos and no one else. Also I've said this before but I highly recommend checking on the fandub of the canon comic Gravity Falls: Lost Legends here on youtube as it's really good.
no spoilers. next two episodes are more off topic stuff. Nine is decent and funny. Ten is one of my favorite non main story episodes. Episode Eleven is the best episode in the series and it's not even close so look forward to that. My favorite episode of any show. Everything is about to change...

It's weird how the blind eye didn't target dipper and mabel. And they should know about them because Robbie says "I was saved by a 12 year old" so they know a child had contact with the fight fighters guy. They should've been the first season antagonist along side gideon imo.
man i hope they watch Adventure Time but it's kinda like one piece, it's great but making a reaction series of it is a significant commitment so i get why it's a long shot.

Just a thought, but maybe Gideons dad didn't know about the journal, so Gideon learned everything over, and over again.
Also, might the Society of the Blind Eye have something to do with how messed up Gideons mother is? Though she can also be explained by just being utterly terrified of Gideon, but why would the father erase his own memories, but not his wifes?
In some of the supplementary materials, I think the published Journal 3, there’s a note about Gideon’s amulet corrupting the heart of whoever uses it. That’s a big part of why he’s so psycho.

So Dipper accidentally erased the memories of an entire life from that one guy and instead of trying to figure out how to undo the damage Mabel just gives him a made up story and sends him on his way into a world where he will without doubt run into some very major problems very soon. I’m just gonna give you guys a heads up, episode 16 is a pretty big filler episode, it has nothing to do with the story, it could have been a season 1 episode cause the material in that episode isn’t that big or impactful. So if you want you can skip episode 16 and just go straight to episode 17
