  • I love the Marvel Legends Star Lord helmet, but after having it for a few days, I've decided that the eye lenses are the weakest part of the whole prop.
The Good: I managed to open up the helmet and figure out how to get at the eye lenses and wiring for future replacement and integration.
The Bad: My camerawork is absolute garbage because I was wearing a bodycam harness so my hands were free. I'm sorry.
The Ugly: At least two minutes of aiming the camera down at my crotch. Again, I'm sorry.

I only bought mine for display
But I'm not the only one who got the smudges that just smear more and more in the lenses, My God! The Smudges!

Yeah, I didn't realize just how bad the problem would be until I got the whole lens assembly out and started wiping and having red dye come off. Going to work on getting a kit together for people to replace them!

Definitely following the progress on this. I have this helmet and the lenses really let it down.

Did you ever replace the plastic eyes?

    Are you George Lucas?
Also I get why they did it this way, but the original prop has semi-clear lenses, the red is all from the LEDs, and looks much better.

May I suggest a tripod instead of a body cam?
Looks like they sure made it difficult. Good luck

Great video.I love how people want a 100 dollar plastic helmet, to be perfect and made with optical glass and metal. You bought this, or can buy this, in Toys R Us, next to the Funko Pops for god sakes...
