I was just gifted a cathedral window from my cousin, she doesn’t sew. I’m thankful to get it, my Great Grandmother started it at least 50 years ago, and it came with all the pieces to finish it. I know what my winter project will be.
My husband received a Cathedral Windows quilt from his uncle when his aunt passed. The quilt was made by the aunt's mother. It was all done by hand and even as an experienced sewer/quilter, I could not figure out how the blocks were created. It is 74"x84" and the colored fabrics are about 1.5" square. I searched and found your video, and WOW, what a process! It makes us appreciate what we have all the more. Your quilt is beautiful. Thank you souch for sharing the process!! ❤
I just finished my extra large king cathedral window quilt. I used your tutorial. It was a lot of work. It took 1 years and 9 months. To say the least, it will be my one and only.
Hi! Judy Hammack here. I live in Ardmore, OK. I just discovered your channel. While I love all kinds of crafts and have taught myself many of them, sewing is my all time favorite. Happy am 67 years old and have been sewing since I was 6-8 when my mother taught me on a Singer treadle machine. I am just getting into quilting. I have always wanted to do a cathedral window quilt. Watching this video has inspired me to want to proceed. However, I have so man projects that I need to finish first. I am as sitting at a table in my sewing room working on a diamond painting for my grandsons at 8:07 tonight. We are in a winter storm warning and have gotten quite a bit of sleet and are expecting snow tomorrow. We don’t have this cold very often. Pretty cold at wind chill of around 21. Not as bad as further north, but that is why we live in south central Ok. Loved the video. Your quilt is absolutely stunningly gorgeous!!!!!
What an amazing quilt! 🩷Beautiful job! What a keepsake this will be. Your way is different than I learned, but I like that it is backed and quilted as you go. 😊Thank you for sharing your experience.
❤❤❤ Tracy ❤❤❤ This tutorial for Cathedral Window Quilt is the best I've found. I'll break it up like you did and chain sew the backing/framing fabric construction and then join in sets of 6. I don’t want my picture fabric to fray, so I will only cut small batches at a time. I'm so excited. My grandies are 11yrs and 13yrs so I have a little more time than you had 😂😂😂❤❤❤😂😂😂 Even if they don't want the quilts I would have made a great achievement and I can always sell them. But I have wanted to make Cathedral Windows forever! 🎉
You just made my life so much easier!! I learned from a video where you had to edge it on a cardboard and iron iron and iron. I never could get the centers perfect so I always had to sew on buttons. They always turned out beautiful, but such a lengthy process. I make memory cathedral pillows quite often, so this is a life/timesaver! Thank you so much. ❤
Oh my goodness, that is beautiful! The only quilt my mother ever mentioned wanting to make was cathedral window. Now I see why she never even started one. So much effort, but worth it.
Super congratulations. We're all happy but Tracy is the happiest. Who said beautiful work comes easy. I hope your daughter and son in law enjoy sunshine through the windows of this quilt for a very very long time together ❤
Wow! What a beautiful quilt. I have wanted to make a cathedral window quilt for a long time but didn't want to do all the hand sewing. Your tutorial is brilliant. Adding this to my list of future projects. Thank you thank you for sharing! ❤
Thank you for the kind words Bev💛 They have it on display in the main part of their house....everytime I go over there-I gush with pride....so accomplishing 💛
What a wonderful job you did, congratulations for completing it. I have been inspired by you to make my Granddaughters one each. At the time of commenting I have about a month for the eldest Granddaughter's birthday. I better get started. Thank you again. I truly love your quilt.
I started a cathedral quilt in high school almost 50 years ago. Recently, while cleaning out my closet I pulled out materials and started it up again. I really appreciated this video and the version you used. I am now more motivated to finish my quilt. Thank you!
I can't believe I have missed this video for 2 years. Your's is so beautiful! It's the "puff" that makes it extra special. This is definitely going on my bucket list! I just need a couple bolts of white fabric to get started. My oldest grandson is 12. Maybe I can get it finished in time for his wedding 😊
This is the third time I’ve watched this video. Tracy I have to say… this is the most beautiful cathedral window quilt I have seen!! I watched quite a few videos on them too! Love the way you stuffed those. And I love that you used your machine! I think everyone hand stitching was holding me back from making one. Im ready to start my 10 year quilt now LOL ❤ ty ty ty!!
Tracy, you’re a cathedral window genius!! I just finished watching your tutorial on how you made this quilt! This was Sew Simple!! I’m going to challenge myself to make one using your tutorial and technique. I will make either a lap quilt, wall hanging, or throw. Bravo Tracy, Bravo!! 💜
At first I was like no no no but I finished watching and was so very impressed. It really is gorgeous and not as hard as I thought. Then boom like you said your done. I’m sure I love it. I love it great job.
BeAuTIFuL instruction!! Exactly what one needs to successfully complete a cathedral window quilt! Thanks so much for the time and effort it took for you to share with others. Blessings to you and your family.
Oh My Goodness Tracy ❤️❤️❤️👏👏👏🥰🥰🥰👍👍👍 Wow girl, This Quilt Looks Spectacular. You did a wonderful job. I knew you would complete this quilt, but I honestly didn’t expect to see it finished this quickly! Your techniques or making this quilt looks better than the one I followed. I recall it being difficult to sew the panel’s together and reason I chose to make mine into a 20x20” pillow with a envelope back. You are a Rick Star for finishing this quilt to quickly 🤩🥳👍🥳 You deserve a good rest and something special, so treat yourself girl 😁🥰 Bless you, Chris
*__Thank you for such kind words Chris.💟 2 days after I uploaded the 1st video and after reading all the encouragement......I put it on my sewing machine and added a few squares then the next day added some more and after that I couldn't stop...It literally only took about 6/7 hours total to finish it. I'm happy to be done for sure!!!!! -------About the technique I use....when I was in the practicing phase of this quilt I could never get the "panels" straight with each other. So that is why I chose the zig zag method.✅ WAY EASIER to control ✅__*
I totally agree with you on your technique, it looks so much easier than the way I did it! You are definitely a Sewing Rock Star!!! It’s Gorgeous 👍💖🥳🥰💖👏 And it’s Done, Yay 👏👏👏👏
Hi Tracy, I am in total awe of Your Amazing Accomplishment-This Quilt is absolutely Gorgeous and Your Daughter and Son in Law are so Blessed to have a Mom who persevered to complete this quilt!I love ❤ that You added the poly-fil to give it even more dimension, Genius! I appreciate so much that You've offered this tutorial, I would probably never make a quilt that large but I certainly will attempt a lap quilt or a lovely accent pillow! Thank You so much!
Thank you Marie for all of your kind feedback💛 This one was a true labor of love quilt for me💛 My daughter and son in law are so appreciative of it too...They actually display this quilt in their living room on a quilt rack for all to see ❤️
@@TheSewingChannel How is that polyfil going through the wash? Does it get lumpy and shift around? I was thinking you could cut out a square of batting and just lay it underneath your center fabric, and it would be stitched in place. I may try that.
This is your opus... your masterpiece... if you will... stunning...just jaw dropping. The work in this. OMG... My Mother always says you can tell how much someone loves you by the quilt they make for you... Looks like its infinite right here. I would to see what your daughter says about this work of art. she probably is gonna cry. I would. Thanks for sharing.
*_Thank you Kelly for your kind words......My daughter actually came over earlier today when I was trying to finish this video.....She wanted to take it home today (I told her to hold off a bit longer just in case I needed to film anymore for the video.) She is anxiously waiting to have it all for her and her family💟_*
Your quilt is stunning! It is quite an accomplishment to finish such a large, gorgeous work. Congratulations! Thank you for sharing this tutorial!

Today I finished mine… 110 inches x 110 inches. It took 2 years but its done! Thank you for giving me the idea. I WON’T be doing it again!
Right!!!! It's a "one and done and never do again quilt" hahahaha🤣
Also, you just make me smile. I realized I'm watching this with the worlds biggest grin. :)

I just finished my extra large king cathedral window quilt. I used your tutorial. It was a lot of work. It took 1 years and 9 months. To say the least, it will be my one and only.
Good Lord Tracy …..this is the most gorgeous quilt I have ever laid eyes on!!! Worth every bit of the struggle!! ❤️❤️
Your version of th Cathedral Window Quilt is so much easier to sew. I did it by hand for a 14"-14" pillow. This will never ever happen again.
You made a beautiful quilt! Your daughter will cherish this quilt forever!
If there's ever a house fire, God forbid, that quilt ought to be the very first thing you grab! It is stunning ♡
*_Wow-thank you💜_*
