    Im so jealous - in Denmark pantry’s are not common - I’ve had two rental homes where there were a pantry throughout my life ( even before I moved out) and I LOVED it!!!
    Usually pantry’s are only in really old houses - my stepdad have a root-cellar with entry from the kitchen, that’s just bloody amazing!! But the house is from 1827, and that’s the case with most ‘homes with pantry’ overhere....
    We make it work within the confines of a ‘regular kitchen’ but it usually overflows with storage in weird spaces for bulky items and such, and it’s harder to keep neat and tidy when everything is crammed - so I would love having that extra space....

    • @3Jisme
      @3Jisme 4 года назад +5

      That's why we switched from big bags of chips to the individual size bags... yes, it costs more initially, but there's far less waste from throwing out half a stale bag. That's the other half of saving money - not just looking at unit cost (which is huge), but also looking at what's getting thrown out. Jordan made the same observation with her laundry soap; she gets the pods even though they're more expensive because they ultimately reduce waste from not overusing the liquid kind.

    Did you know you can freeze chips? I have been doing it for years. Especially in the summer time. If you have open chips just put them in ziplock bags an place them in the freezer. Or if you get a good deal on chips just place them right in the freezer .my favorite is BBQ chips in the freezer the cold of the chip and the spicy is sooo good . great video!!

Thank you for reminding me about putting extras in the back and things at certain heights depending on the frequency of use. Now that the oldest 2 kids are getting more independent with snacks and more helpful with other meals, it made sense to move paper plates, napkins, and baggies down (and baking stuff and pasta up). Snacks were already at their level but needed tidying up, especially Mom & Dad’s snacks... Thank you for motivating this sick pregnant Mommy through my daughter! Feed the stale popcorn and cereal to the birds, they love it. They appreciate the extra food especially when migrating and in the winter. We live by a duck pond. They're mostly domestic ducks that were people's pets and got abandoned, so they don't migrate. We stock bread ends and stale crackers or whatever in the freezer for the ducks, then bring it to them once we get sort of a shopping bag full. It would be fun for the kids.

    I loved this video! Finally a pantry organizing that was more about functionality....this is what I ve been looking for....the oversized basket idea is brilliant! I have asked other youtubers what they did with all stuff they took out but obviously didn’t go back in.....what you said about the pretty containers verses functional storage is true....I feel more focused now on what I need to do!

    Wow that is lots of food! One way to have less food and less open packets is to cut down the different types of one food you have at once. Only have two to three different types of cereals. Only two or three types of crackers until they are all gone then switch to a different type. This is so there are not so many half eaten foods and it add variety as you switch out the types every so often. When I learnt this it was a game changer. Its excessive to have so much choice. Now I only have two spreads at a time. Who said you need every type of everything, it's not a hotel! It helps spend less and keeps food fresher as its eaten faster, and less food in the pantry and less waste.

    Do you find that you have a lot of things expire or go stale when you are using the baskets, not the wire ones? Also have you ever thought about using the cereal containers for chips as well?

With family of 9 it's very small but I guess it's easier to keep it clean. Seemed like you tossed many snacks away that were expired 😄

    About expiration date, most of food is good for so much longert than expiration date. Specially dry food. In Germany we have stores that sell close to date or even expired food so it won't end up in landfills (because it perfectly fine to eat or use, like cosmetics).

      I don't worry about such a seasoned momma knowing wen to take it easy. It seems like Jordan totally knows wat she's doing w/ pregnancies...idt Jordan has any issues w/ knowing her value but it's nice to be encouraging

    Hey Jordan! 💖💖💖
    I have watched this before but watched again in preparation for our move. (Yes we are moving too!) I am trying to organize my cupboards into bins/containers because right now we have no system at all and the mess is driving me crazy!! (I'm 32 weeks pregnant so that might not be helping lol) I would love to hear more about organizing/cleaning/packing during your moving process. We are using clear bins with locking lids for as many things as possible. I'm hoping to find containers for the kitchen that will double as moving and storage containers so there won't be any unpacking at the new place, just pop it in the drawer or cabinet. Kinda like your bathroom organization video. I just did that in the bathroom and all our stuff in in 4 small bins. Anything else is in the garage (non essential until we move) ok anyways I think you get the point!! Let me know how your moving process is going!!! Dying to hear! Happy holidays!! 🥰

    I buy most of my food in bulk from a supplier which is working with restaurants and staff. And by bulk I mean 20 to 40 lb of salt, rice and grains, beans, nuts raisins spices peanut butter flours and I make everything I can from scratch : mayonnaise salat dressing mustard granola bread pasta you name it!!! All we buy on weekly base is butter sour cream just because it will be more expensive to make my own and some fruits. I also grow everything in big garden and stor it. I love it
