    It also depends in the length of credit history too
    Because multiple approved cards will decrease the length on time.
    Even if you are added as an authorized user, it counts and it lowers the credit length of time.
    With a short credit history of say 1 years, it's about 5 point per card

    Spreading out your pulls across the bureaus help with the App o'rama cause they tend to count as a single application for EX, TU, EQ.

      For me it gets into a lot of work when you start trying to track which bank pulls from which credit bureau, especially when the same bank can pull from different bureaus at different times or different bureaus based on where you are in the country. I see people who are 100% sure that a card pulls from a certain bureau and then when I get the card the bank tells me they pulled from a different one.

After approval i found out and wanted to cancel, but i dont want negative impact on my report (not just score).
      I wont be canceling it as i already have the card now...i think my best course at this point is to wait a year and see if they can downgrade me to a 0 annual card before my next annual is up. If they refuse me i will probably tell them to just cancel and take the hit. At the least (and i could be wrong) is that by having it for a year before i cancel atleast will show lenders that i responsibly managed the card before dropping it and that i wasn't wishy washy by cancelling it the moment i got it.

    I’m getting a lot of credit card offers through the mail. Can I play for one every once in a while even though I don’t really need more credit? Is the 5 or so point ding worth the lower debt ratio in the future? I don’t see much information about this being shared. Does applying for a card, not being used or minimally used, a good move?

      Yes I think it's a good idea applying for a car to have leverage and to lower your debt ratio I've done this in the past and I'm trying it again to see how it works if you're building your credit having a card that you really don't use a whole lot is a good thing I had got a Fingerhut card one-time not really to use but to have to add to my credit line so my utilization ratio would be lower and it worked out pretty good then I got rid of the Fingerhut card after a year I never use the card actually yes I think having Leverage is important

    • @secretchipmunk7
      @secretchipmunk7 2 года назад +1

      Probably. I've added 4 cards in a month and my score dropped 20-35 once it gets on my report. It's no big deal because once it posts the first statement, you start getting a bump. Although now you have too many inquiries for awhile. My TU took a huge inquiry hit this year. Next time I'm spreading them out over all the bureaus. Like 2-4 with each bureau and then just sit awhile before doing again. Lol

    • @_sasori

      I applied to two credit cards two weeks apart and my credit score dropped 99 points lol it was more so due to a huge jump in credit utilization, tho. I put an Airbnb stay on one of the cards and because it had 0% APR, I didn't bother paying it down that quickly. The inquiries themselves were responsible for about 30 points of the total

      Below the required 5 accounts. Once I get up to par my score will raise eventually. I’m not even worried.

    • @secretchipmunk7
      @secretchipmunk7 2 года назад +2

      Depends on average age. Under 2 years, yes that's short. As far as 5 years for oldest card, it's in the middle. Not high not low.

    • @john091077
      @john091077 2 года назад +1

      Ideally they look for 9+ years average across all lines.

    • @markbeiser
      @markbeiser Год назад

      If that is the age of your oldest account, it is relatively short, if it is the average age of multiple accounts, it is mid range.
      You likely won't be joining the 800 club yet, but should be able to hit solidly in the good to very good range, depending on how the rest of your credit profile looks.

    • @carryeveryday910
      @carryeveryday910 5 месяцев назад

      Yes but credit history is only 15% of your score where as payment history and debt is 35% and 30% respectively, personally I have relatively short history cause of my age but my payment history over 10 years is perfect and I have 0 debt so my score is over 800 and I get approved for anything I apply for.
