Hi all, I've suspended the free credit card consultation program. However, you can get free personalized credit card offers from CardMatch here: milevalue.com/cardmatch/?aff=at
If you're traveling outside of the US then don't rely on American Express. It's not commonly accepted in Europe. Personally I always make sure I have at least two cards; one based on Mastercard and one based on Visa.
I had signed up for the United explorer card I've been thinking that I'm not getting my money worth out of the cards annual fee, so yeah I'll downgrading the united card, and maybe get the Chase Sapphire. Thanks for suggestion!
Thank you for this subject,”credit cards for traveling” . My wife and I are 67 years old and want to travel more! We are on a fixed income and I’ve used Carnival and Princess cards to help us cruise 2 different trips. We cruised to Hawaii and to the Panama Canal. Do you have any advice what would be another card we could use to travel more using rewards & points. We looking to cruise to the Caribbean in 2025? Thanks for your advice!!!
Which business travel reward crcd do u recommend ( travel 2 to 3 times a year) ?? One best crcd with No annual fee and one crcd with annual fee of less then $100. Thank you in advance!!!
Thank you for the information but which one of these cards are good for purchasing tickets on a different site ? Example if i book directly through Delta and not on the cards travel site. I know delta has a card a well but sometimes another site will be more cost efficient
Why would Allie get an AMEX? Aren't you missing out on Chase Sapphire points when it's used? In other words, how do you choose which card to use when making any specific purchase.
What card pays the most cash back. I have a “food” card A “gas” card an “Amazon” card a “hotel” card and then an “everything else” card. Then if you link your Amex cards to Rakuten your points build faster. It can be overwhelming but once you’re hooked on cash back/points it becomes easier,
I have a Chase preferred that I was planning on canceling knowing that it may hurt my score because I just opened a United Explorer card which is more useful to me, after watching the video I’ll be downgrading the card instead of canceling. Thank you for the tip. Definitely following this page for more useful tips.
Great video. We have a United miles card. We have been able to use a lot of miles to travel. But, I’ve been hearing cards that give cash back, might be even better? But, also, I’m wondering if we got a new chase card, would our United miles still be there for us to use? Thanks!
Working on sabbatical planning for 2026, current plan is to visit Spain-France-Italy for 50ish days, and want to get great upgrades for airline tickets kids will be 9 and 12. Right now have a Delta card and Citi Preferred, any other suggestions?
Thanks for video. Traveling to NZ in April. We have Chase Sapphire Preferred, one card - wife is authorized user. Can we drop her from my card and she open her own and get the sign up bonus points? We don’t exceed the 5/24 rule. Thanks in advance.
Hi, watching from Canada. I don’t understand why you would get so many credit cards except for the joining bonuses. As best to have all points in one reward pot.
I’m brand new at travel rewards cards. I’m interested in that free consult because I’ve got a trip to Japan in Spring 2025 and I’m really wanting to minimize the out of pocket for those flights. How do I get that consult?
Can these RUclipsrs stop saying the phrase "travel for free". Is incredibly inaccurate and you all say it to feel better with yourselves. I'm sure over 90% of the people watching this believe you when you say it because they don't know any better but please, at least be honest about how these programs work. Also, Credit Karma doesn't give you your FICO Score, which is the score credit card issuers use. The number these is usually super off from your real FICO Score. Last, regarding the annual fees, the banks usually charge them the first month of opening the card so be ready to take that hit.
@@awaytogetherthese videos (and your channel) are fantastic, thanks so much for putting this content out there. Super helpful. A quick follow up regarding the number of credit cards one might accumulate in the pursuit of reward travel. Does your credit score suffer if you have a bunch of cards open? Let's assume the balances on everything are paid off each month and no more than 30% of the available credit is used. Have you seen your FICO score go down as you keep adding cards? Just curious. I have about 4 cards at the moment but considering adding a few after watching this. Thanks for any tips!
@@tfprusd Short term there's a hit to your credit score, but long term having more cards with a low utilization has improved my score. You've got more credit available to you and using less of it.
@@awaytogether 17 credit cards at the same time? Wow! We have 3 tracek credit cards. In Canada, I have found that these cards give a lot of points but they seem to tack on a lot of fees when you want to use them for flights. Due to bank accounts we hold, we don’t pay the $140 yearly fees on them which is nice. I’m debating about whether I should also get a good Amex card too.
Yes. It’s a good tool for taking a quick look at things But definitely not your score. My real score is 20-30 points more than the score on credit karma .

Not true. It’s used all over Europe in large cities. There may be an issue every once in a while if using in a small town or mom and pop shop.
@@LS-tj2ho It's rarely taken in the UK even in large towns and shops (source: I live here).
I’ve never had a problem here, i use it everywhere I go…I live here too
I’m an American living and working in Europe and find this to be untrue. I use my Amex all the time over here.
This is a treasure trove of relevant information; especially for beginners. Well done!

canceling doesn't hurt your credit score

Actually it can based on the age of the card it can lower your length of credit which does impact your score.
I have 3 credit cards and I’ve never had any problems in Europe. I also carry cash in case there’s an issue at the store.
I see no one talking about the capitol one venture one card. I guess it’s not as good as it seems to me.

Not yet, but based on this and other comments, maybe I should make one!

Can you keep doing credit card for couples videos
Based on this and other comments I'm strongly considering it!
How long did it take you to accumulate 1.7MM Points? Months or years?
Approx 10 months in 2 Player Mode w/ one or two Business Cards thrown in there. We went really fast. Maybe too fast. :)
impressive.

No it’s not, the scores come from the agencies.
