I learnt something today, im nearly 65 and have always been unsure of the amount of drag to leave on the shoes so often have to re adjust the brakes after a few weeks. Thank you 😊
Hi there I am only after coming across your channel for the first time today , I was searching for help on a Renault master van , the first one i found was the one about settling the hinge on the back door , thank you so much for the video , I HAD MINE FIXED IN FIVE MINUTES cheers
You can get a small led on the end of a flexible wire with watch batteries. They are small enough to poke though the hole and still see the adjuster I used one on my dad's Peugeot 406.
I bought a pair of those pliers quite a few years ago from Corfu but I lost them a couple of years later i think i left them in a car I put in part exchange I will have to invest again I am not sure i like those shoe and pad brakes but thanks for the video
No locktite on the bolts so won’t be putting any on I hear you say - that’s of course if the person before you did it correctly 😝. Obv this is prob 1st time around for this car, so you’re safe.
Mechanics dont like it when i say i learn a lot from RUclips videos like this , they always act like its impossible to do it yourself.. so annoying. Thnx buffy
My experience ..knocking off edge fine on pads but not shoes ...what happens when you do that is the powered brake dust gets under the shoes ..and you can actually hear it ...leave the edge alone and it acts as a wiper pushing the dust out of the way and water should it get soaked...and hopefully out of the drum if you haven't got a wear ridge...its ok to put a measly chamfer on it no more than 1/2 - 1mm....no more o help it for the frst few miles
Wrong, it's actually good practice to apply a taper on the leading edge of the brake shoe but leave the trailing edge alone as the leading edge will take most of the initial braking force.
How come the hand brake shoes required changing, they should last the life of the car and 2017, sounds unessersary, I know your doing the work for another garage by the way, genuinely interested?
I guess u need to make a new video hahaha. Don't worry! Everything is fine. Thanks for sharing. Those brakes shoes are pain in the ass. Believe me! I've been there with Peugeot 406.
I just watched your video replacing Hand brake shoes and brake pads , ? I'm surprised that you did not release the tension on the handbrake cables before installing the Shoes and have them adjusted properly afterwards to ensure that you had a proper and effective handbrake afterwards , I thought it a bit slack on your Professionalism , also you could have given the chambers where the brake pads slide a cleaning with a good wire brush just to be sure , after all Brakes are so Important , Thank you
The ford mondeo mk4 just uses pads . A much easier setup and the handbrake does work. It has to pass mot. Yes definitely better than the old Mk 4 zephyr which was useless. This setup makes me think they just want to make money and complicated to stop home diy.

Done same design twice this year for my mates on a Kia Sportage and Chevrolet Captiva.. quite enjoy working on brakes 😊
Is this the same setup for electric handbrake models or do they work on the calipers?

Literally just did this on my Captiva today. Deja bloody Vu. 😂😂

Hello Leon. Why shouldn't I use impact gun on lug nuts?
Hi. He did say not to use the impact on the locking lug nut only. You don't want to be damaging that.
@@howardbatty254 How can you damage the nuts with the impact gun? Mine are in great shape. Don't use tone of torque and it will be fine.

Do these brake shoes do any actual braking or do they just hold the vehicle when stationary?
interesting 14 on caliper and also 14 on carrier... most of time carrier will be at least 17 up to 21 -22 and tight as...

Same as a Kia Sportage mk 3/4
Kia ceed is the same except you have to remove the tie arm as the bolt can't be reached 😢
Handbrake adjustment inside the car is a pain in d hole 😭

And the shoes are smaller on the cars with disks and shoes on the back so the hand brakes not as good as with just drums.

Dont use brake cleaner on coated brake discs
He's going to love you 😊
@terryatkinson3182 No, no I am going to be nice. I am looking forward to see where this is going, this should be really good🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Memememe,😂
You should always grease your pads and discs before fitting to make them last longer...
why dont you just get a impact gun and your using the hammer wrong who hits it side on
I do!
@priteshchampaneri5101 I do too 😁
@@bodgitandleggitgarage Makes it easier when you’re hitting a small surface area like that!
@@priteshchampaneri5101yep😁
He’s showing people how to do it who might not have expensive tools. I’ve been DIYing cars for over forty years, and have never needed a power tool
Couldn't finish watching the video.... blathering on about nothing
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 love you too
WAY too much talking
Way too many comments
Blowing out a brake shoes is NOT RECOMMENDED.
Use brake cleaner to avoid dust from shoes and drum.
P.S. Are you a qualified mechanic, just wondering.
