  • On October 30th 2022, a historical BMX Flatland event took place in Saitama, Japan. Not only did the men's class benefit from an all expenses paid trip to Japan and have the highest purse in history for the second time at 10 million yen ( approx 68000 USD) for 1st place , but also women's class benefited from a large purse and an all expenses paid trip to Japan to compete. The women's class held 6 girls coming from 4 countries.
In order of appearance in the video :
    🇯🇵 Yui Kiyomune, 13 years old ( @yui_bmx)
    🇧🇷 Leticia Moda, 26 years old (@leticia_moda)
    🇩🇪 Julia Preuss, 32 years old ( @goldhirschlein)
    🇯🇵 Carin Hommura, 12 years old (@carinbmx)
    🇯🇵 Sariya Kajiwara, 12 years old (@sariya_0609_bmx)
    🇨🇵 Louise Seigneur , 17 years old (@louise.bmx)
The support and development of women's class BMX FLATLAND is integral in the future of the sport and it's potential participation in the Olympics.
Thanks to Chimera A-Side for the amazing event and everyone is surely looking forwards to have a chance to go again.

And furthermore your dedication it takes to ride flatland at any level is beyond anything ever seen in the Olympics I'm certain in fact it is the most difficult sport on the planet having been a writer and watch BMX and ridden out of professional level for 30 years I say this with confidence

@@bobanmilisavljevic7857 When you look at this sport it takes a unique skill set to have that type of balance and speed to transition into different positions on your bike while spinning around that fast. I think everyone will agree that not everybody can do what they are doing on that level. Just watching this....I feel a little dizzy.

I road flatland/ ramp in the 80s and 90s. The stuff they are doing today and the fact they are doing it without brakes...🤯

@@bobanmilisavljevic7857 Oh I know. I still keep up with it all. I still have a couple of my old bikes in my garage I get out and ride occasionally. Awesome to see BMX finally getting the respect and recognition it deserves at the World Cup Level, X Games, Olympics, etc. 👍

@@rse4379 there are even riders who has done flatland without pegs. I am not sure of the rider but there is a video from S&M (short SM). Even though the video is 14 years old, but it baffles me everytime, you could check out Leo Claro, a brazilian rider. His pegless skill with flatland even after 14 years is very unique and a whole new level in my opinion - he definetly deserves more recognition for it.

The combos she was doing were unreal I don't think any judge there really knew what they were looking at but obviously it was enough for her to get the victory that she definitely deserved

Man i get teared up when i see these girls pulling something rad out of their hats. It's not just because i want flatland to spread to new people and grow, but also because it just seems like something girls would be really good at and bring in new flavors to the mix, not just to be as good as the men.

@@bobanmilisavljevic7857 yeah, i definitely know that, but still, almost every kid, girl or boy, rides a 20" bike at some point. Most, I would bet, will desire to jam their foot in the front tire, and then some of them will want to move on to backflips. I just want to make a world where anyone who wants to start sticking their foot in the front tire, won't feel discouraged from doing so.

@@bobanmilisavljevic7857 with kids, i think it's just good to at least put flatland in front of them for a second, they might dig it, maybe not. Maybe it helps if their only chance is seeing an older man in the neighborhood do it, maybe it hurts, haha who knows? Part of flatland is showing encouragement to anyone who shows interest, and another part (maybe more important) is just not letting other people's comments (if they are critical) change your relationship to flatland. Cool points from the public may be hard-won or short-lived, but persistence and focus always pays off in flatland.

redhead and girl riding almost all pink were my favorites...but 1st place girl was doing almost next level by comparison..so that makes sense...the redhaired girl had some smooth well balanced tricks...I really liked her flow and weird reverse slowmotion peg boomerang to fakie infinity roll thing??? I dunno, I liked it...maybe simpler but still smooth and fun to see.
