Love the old Jaguar - 2 petrol tanks 🤣 and the shout out to Ede with the old T1 👍Cool Opels - Manta & Diplomat - very cool. Don't think we got the Diplomat (that I can remember) in the UK so that's great to see. Great video Sven
Loving these old Jaguars as well. Hehe, it probably needed the 2 petrol tanks because it's so thirsty.
Manta and Diplomat were really legendary cars. But I guess the time of legendary cars with the Opel badge is long time over. The Diplomat was only built as an Opel. But no idea if they maybe also produced it as RHD for UK. But can't find anything about it so I guess it wasn't sold to UK. It's really a majestic looking car in this size like an US car.
The Regency red XJ6 looks fantastic. The series 1 came initially with the 4.2 and 2.8 engines. The 2.8 wasn't as popular and i think there were certain issues that affected the 2.8. The Tempest looks very nice as does the Opel Manta which i am guessing dates from 1972-74?
The crossfire over here is good value and can be picked up quite cheaply. It will be only when they have gone and prices go up people will think hm wish i'd bought one when they were that cheap.
Good show Sven.
The 4.2 badge I've seen so far at a lot of these old Jaguars. So I am assuming the better reliability compared to the 2.8 is the explanation why I only see the 4.2 litres.
The Tempest I've seen a few times in this year. But it's really never getting boring. The Opel Manta at 1:38 was the first generation from 1970-1975. According to the license plate my guess is also for 1972. The Opel Manta at 9:41 must be the small facelift from 1979 with the black rubber bumpers and the old U-shaped indicator glasses. In 1982 they did a bigger facelift with painted plastic bumpers. And from 1975 the second generation of the Opel Manta had chrome bumpers. It's really interesting to see these three phases of the car. The one with the black rubber bumpers is more rare to see.
The Chrysler Crossfire starts at around € 5000-6000. Actually in the price range where I'm currently to check for a "Youngtimer" (young classic of 20+ years) as a daily. It's based on the first generation of the Mercedes SLK (R170) and put together at Karmann in Osnabrück. They did such assemblies for some companies, so not only for Volkswagen.
The Crossfire could be a car I could consider also take a look at. Since I had a bad Saturday when I wanted to check a low mileage 2002 Jaguar X-Type. So I drove 2 hours and waiting for the seller and then when opening the front passenger doors I found out that the sills were poorly repaired and especially on the co-passenger side it will be an issue with the next MOT. So I didn't even look under the hood and not even doing a test drive which of course also could have been interesting - it was the one with the 3.0 V6 in a lovely red metallic paint. But for the price tag it was way too expensive when seeing weird rubber rubber compound smeared on the front end of the sill between the fender and the door. At the co-passenger side it was badly rusting with rusted bear metal and some rust bubbles close to the plastic cover of the sill. So for sure underneath it is already badly rusting. So well, since I also had to wait for the seller because from outside it was looking very nice so I was too late to also check for the white Mercedes E230 like I had before. Currently I am being mad for driving almost 100 miles to check for a car that isn't as great as told. But of course not all cars are as poorly fixed.
@@BFDdrives The Crossfire in the uK between £1000-£4000(top condition).
I know the red metallic you mean ,its a lovely colour with the cream leather.
Seller descriptions vary considerably and i know how frustrating it is to travel to find you have just wasted time. I have spent time doing this quite a bit and its not just the time but the expense. I travelled approx 400 miles to look at a perfect Range Rover to discover within a few minutes that there was a hole in the back of the sill that you could get your hand in and the rear passenger door didn't close properly because it had been in an accident and that was before i got started looking at it properly. This was a trader. There are other examples. It will find you when you are ready i'm sure probably when your not looking.
@@TipTopMotors. Wow, that's cheap over there about the Crossfire. But I also heard something that the Jaguar X-Types are also quite cheaper than here. But well, on the other hand I must also say that our used car prices exploded during Corona when suddenly no one wanted to ride with the bus wearing the masks. And then came the chip crisis and people had to wait longer for their new cars.
Yes, the waste of time and the expenses to travel around for nothing is really annoying. I hope the next cars will be better. I've two more X-Types in my bucket list that could be alright. Will check some stuff but as always some people love to let people come although they're knowing the car is bad. Happened to me in last year also once ... the rustfree car had huge rust bubbles at the wheel arches and a bad painted part of the fender which simply wasn't this visible on the fotos.
@@BFDdrives I didn't know there was a Chip crisis. We didn't have a shortage of potatoes.
If your going to have to travel and you have a smart phone is there any point in asking before you travel if they if they could facetime you and do a walk around video and you ask them specifically to show you the areas you want to look at. It wont rule out it being rubbish but may help to decide whether its worth taking the time to travel?
Good luck anyway Sven.
@@TipTopMotors. LOL, computer chips, not potato chips.
Good advice about the video. This may also be a solution - in case the trader or seller is knowing how to, hehe.
