With you all the way regarding working farms. I breathe a real sigh of relief if it's only sheep (they tend to just piss when I'm passing them). I will never do the Two Moors Way (Devon) again, a hard hilly hike (stunningly beautiful in places as it was), but worst of all the most intense number of cow farms I've ever walked through. Never had a problem with a cow, on that walk, but it's just the nervous tension of getting through those fields full of cows that takes it's toll. Thanks for taking us on the stroll. I'll be getting one of those beanies as well. *Just read that the camera is a Go Pro 10. Honestly thought it was something much bigger. Impressive.
Walking through cow fields is awful isn’t it. I had to add an extra day rerouting the Cool Dudes Trail after I realised I had accidentally plotted it through a field where I’d twice been chased by cows. I am pretty impressed with the GoPro so far. I think it struggles a bit in low light though.
First time commenting Marek but thank you for all the videos and cool walks! I moved to the Isle of Wight about a year ago and your videos have been super helpful for finding different trails. Not sure I’ll do this one as I tend to walk with my dog so I try to avoid livestock but Firestone Copse is absolutely lovely.

Great trip 😄 My other favourite RUclips channels are Wendall Explores, Love Sundays, Cornish Walking Trails, and Summit or Nothing. And I have learned to love olives after I grew up 😊 And I am not happy to walk through a field of cows.
Ham and mustard is the king of sandwich fillings, maybe with a bit of cheese in there as well. Places I don't like to walk are country lanes where cars shoot by at 60mph and scary woods in the dark. A couple of 'walkers' that I follow on YT are - ruclips.net/user/LiamBrown and ruclips.net/user/ExpeditionHiker - obviously they are not as cool as the CDWC. Love the beanie hat - just ordered one as my current hat is getting a bit old and out of shape.
Nice one cool dude. is in the post. I took cheese out of my sandwiches after someone trolled me about getting fat. I agree about those horrible country lanes where there is nowhere to escape traffic.
@@cdwc The hat arrived safely and I tried it out on a brisk walk yesterday evening. I am convinced that it is increasing my pace by an extra 0.5mph, plus I feel excessively cool wearing it
Great video once again, thanks Marek! I really enjoy the bus journey shots at the start and finish of your island walks. I don't subscribe to many other youtubers but do watch No More Jockeys (with Mark Watson, Alex Horne and Tim Key) which has a lovely friendly virtual community much like the Cool Dudes Walking Club does I think the biggest change in tastes as I've got older is now liking sparkling water, and gin and tonics 😂 Least favourite thing to see on a walk is a field of cows that has to be walked through!
Yes Gin and Tonic is definitely an age thing. I remember trying it when I was about 15 and not understanding how anyone could drink it. I have never warmed to whisky though for some reason. The front seat on the bus bits are probably my favourite part of the videos.

Lovely walk as usual. I enjoy watching Matt's Off-road Recovery for shits and giggles. Sidenote: On my job I have to carry dog spray, a type of repellant for dogs. Funny thing is that some dogs are unaffected by it. One day I sprayed it at a dog and missed, hitting the sidewalk in front of it. It looked at me funny and then went to licking the dog spray off of the sidewalk. After it had it's fill of dog spray the dog went straight back to trying to eat me. Fun times.
Love the idea of walking towards you on this amble, to witness the cantankerous man having a row with himself over a dodgy guide book. Mumbling expletives about the 'wrong bloody path', then to cap it all, chased by an elderly hound. Your brief respite of happiness is discovering you are a sheep whisperer, in a very niche market.
We saw you filming wootton creek as we drove past. We stopped up the road to try to say hello, but I guess you had already turned up the bridleway by lakeside. Stay cool, dude 😎
Bats are cool. I used to live in a top floor flat that had lots of trees just outside it. During the summer the flat would get really hot and stuffy at night, so to let some air in and try and get a cool breeze I would offer have the windows wide open unfortunately this would also let bats in. It was quite startling the first time that happened but I ended up getting used to them.
Does Martin Simon have a right of reply after this? 😆 Dogs are annoying aren’t they and yes, there should be signs up to warn of angry farmers. I generally don’t like walking on roads where cars can’t pass or freshly ploughed fields. Beanie and t-shirt look great Marek, I’ll buy one on payday if they’re still available. Stay cool!
Maybe Martin Simon will make a video about me. I expect I'll get a letter from his lawyers soon. Just ordered another small run of t-shirts so they will be available again soon.
Another great video, Marek! I thought I’d throw my hat in the ring for a channel to watch: ‘Forage Box TV’ It’s my baby so maybe not a fair recommendation, but there is a lot of hiking in the Lake District and other areas with a bit more focus on the edible plants and fungi I encounter on the way. I used to hate olives, I love them now. I also started liking anchovies and also, not something that I never liked but my Marmite consumption has also gotten out of control.
Hello cool dune, still pondering membership as IoW is a long way from Yorkshire. On that subject, great Yorkshire walker I highly recommend is Haze Outdoors - slightly different accent. x
Oh yes I have seen some of his, he is very good. Although I can't understand why anyone likes camping. (also you don't have to be from the Isle of Wight to join )
Straight in with the T shirt here ! I dislike walking next to cows, geese and lairy drunken people. My other You Tube favourites are HubNut which is about mundane cars and Time Ghost History.
Great video cool dude I do think it might be time to write a sternly-worded letter to your local MP about the dangers in this "writer" Martin Simon's books. His main aim is obviously to endanger cool dudes around the world (or, around the IOW). Stay Cool
Yes I love Piccalilli with ham. I only have it at Christmas though. Thanks for the order, will post later in the week as just off on another walk in the terrible weather.
@@cdwc No problem on the TShirt, I'm glad that you have something other than white now, as you can imagine with my Piccalilli habit white is a no no. Enjoy the walk and Stay Cool
Nice copse you found there for your lunch break. As I've got older I find myself enjoying smelly cheese more and more. As a child I found these things repulsive.
Yes golf courses are the worst. When I did the Sandown Clown walk a golfer asked me where his ball went and then got pissed off with me when I didn’t see it. Confirming my belief that at least 50% of golfers are arseholes.
As others have said check out Atomic Shrimp, his stuff is amazing! Fields of cows don't really bother me, mainly because my dad used to be a farmer and told me when I was little to always keep your eye on them and when they get close just make a loud sound and wave/clap your hands at them and they will stay back. My biggest problem is dogs and dog walkers, I have a phobia of dogs and I find most dog walkers to be problematic in that they don't keep their dogs under control.
I just watched a whole video on Atomic Shrimp's channel about rainwater he kept on his shelf for two years. It was fantastic. I have subscribed to him. As for dogs, I have noticed over the last couple of years I seem to be encountering more badly behaved dogs. I hate it when the owners say 'He is only playing.' When they jump their muddy paws over your trousers.
I loved the bit about the shitting 💩. Brilliant. 😂 The thing I hate seeing on walks(apart from flashers) are rats and mice. There are loads along the canal and the old railway path by me. 😑 As for maturing tastebuds-I love sushi and strong cheese now whereas I wouldn't touch anything like that twenty years ago. My diet has been very interesting over the last few days though. On Sunday I ate a flapjack cake, on Monday I ate two slices of toast and some hash browns and yesterday I ate cheese on toast and instant mash potato. Mmm ALL of the beige. 😋 Oh, RUclips vids-my son has got me into themepark vlogger vids like Themepark worldwide and Coaster crazy. I also like those vids where Americans react to British food. Utter trash I know but addictive. I still don't understand why Americans hate Turkish delight so much.
Not your favourite walk. What are your top 5 walks on the Isle of Wight. Think mine starts at Bonchurch pond and straight up onto top of Bonchurch down. Then down Nansen Hill. Devil's Chimney. Along Landslip to Monks Bay.
I dislike paths through fields with livestock and would actively avoid them unless it's sheep, when I'm walking I want to relax and not have to be on alert. I also don't want to aggravate the sheep at this time of year but I spent a few minutes today watching a lamb jumping about when I went past a field, it looked like it was having so much fun 🤪
I found your channel through Shrouded Hand mentioning you in a video. Amazing! Literally my new favorite channel! Love your videos! And just joined through your website! Someone tell me how to join on RUclips!? I literally see no join button 😞
Hello. I am so glad you like the channel. As for the join button, I think for some reason it doesn’t appear on iPads but it should be there if you go the channel page on a PC and maybe a phone. Stay cool and thank you for your support.
@@cdwc, I’m not sure. I’m on an iPhone and I can see it for other channels 😞 I’m going to get on my laptop this evening and see if I can find it! Stay cool! 👍
I'm not sure who is more of a menace to your walks; Martin Simon, that dog or BLOODY SUNGLASSES MAREK. I can't decide myself. Some RUclips suggestions: Maximus Ironthumper (an off-grid blacksmith with a very gentle soul) and Foresty Forest (a Canadian mountaineer/slow cooking aficionado who lives in a van.
When you list them all like that I am suddenly aware of the huge amount of menace I face on every single walk. Will check out those youtubers cool dude.
Great vid as always Marek! Please do be careful though because I'm becoming convinced that Sunglasses Marek and Martin Simons may be working together to lead you into danger...
If you want a channel that's not about walking but is fun as hell I recommend The Found Footage Festival. They own 11000 VHS's and just show clips and stuff from them. It's a lot of fun, they have a series called Shaturday morning cartoons which is my fave you can probably guess what that ones about. They have been to the fringe a couple of times I think (at least once) so you may recognise them. If you are a fan of old school 70's Italian horror then I recommend The Horror Geek, he goes over all the old movies and gives them a gore card. TBH you are the only walking thing I watch so I'm crap in this area. Oh I did share with you UK Wildcrafts that's a nice little channel. All the best #467 x
I wasn't fast enough to order a shirt. Will have to wait til you restock so you can send it all in one parcel. Public walking on private land isn't a thing here, but dogs can still be a menace. My other regular youtube channel is It's a Wonderful Life.
Haha I'm well going to put up some ANGRY FARMER signs. You should check out this dude Marek Larwood's channel he's usually good for a laugh. Im gonna check out that Jab Betty's channel he looks like he could be my dad.
I have never really got into peanut butter, but I like Satay sauce now which I suppose is almost the same. As for parsnips, I am the same as you but it might be because I have them cooked in honey now.
I can't abide walking next to or near busy roads. I will endure all manner of danger, inconvenience, and awkwardness in order to not have vehicles flying by me.
I film in 4K. I normally use an Olympus Em1 Mark III but the last two I have used a GoPro Hero 10. I use Rose radio mics. All my gear is on the website.

I used to hate olives, I love them now. I also started liking anchovies and also, not something that I never liked but my Marmite consumption has also gotten out of control.
I absolutely adore anchovies.
The foundations for a good walking videos are Amib and Javier Vagabond, and then you build it from there.
I will check out Javier Vagabond. I recently wrote a whole blog about amib. The greatest.
Hey sunglasses Marek , where were the trains?
I can't believe people are talking directly to sunglasses Marek now.
I enjoy Kittikoko she (or he) also does Isle of Wight Walking vlogs but with no commentary.
It is a she and she is a member of the CDWC!!!! I got on the same bus as her once and she emailed me afterwards to tell me.
Thanks cool dude. You got the last one in that size. Nice one. I will check out those youtubers.
Fantastic upload man, you captured some beautiful shots and nicely explained everything.🙌🏻🙌🏻🎥
Thanks cool dude.
I do like watching a guy called John Rogers who does walking tours around London and the history of different areas, its very interesting
Another vote for John Rogers. He's great value.
Yes I have seen a few of his cool dude. He is very good.
RUclips, Leon perkins is good! Yourself! Wiltshire man is good and of course Retro Ratz 🤣
Great video cool dude I do think it might be time to write a sternly-worded letter to your local MP about the dangers in this "writer" Martin Simon's books. His main aim is obviously to endanger cool dudes around the world (or, around the IOW). Stay Cool
I saw a Martin Simon walking book for Menorca in my local charity shop. Poor Spanish walkers.
I've been getting into Piccalilli, the mustard/pickle hybrid. It's both traditional and daring.
One of the many foods I like more with age is pickled veg like gherkins and sauerkraut - got to have a bit of acidity in your sandwich
Yes I quite like red cabbage. I might get some at Tescos today.
My second favorite RUclips UK walker is Darren Curtis.
This is excellently phrased.
@@cdwc
Nice copse you found there for your lunch break.
As I've got older I find myself enjoying smelly cheese more and more. As a child I found these things repulsive.
Yes! I love a good blue cheese.
Golf courses and Cows are a real pain for me, I've been charged at too many times. Oh and I have the same effect on Sheep too!
Yes golf courses are the worst. When I did the Sandown Clown walk a golfer asked me where his ball went and then got pissed off with me when I didn’t see it. Confirming my belief that at least 50% of golfers are arseholes.
This is my first time watching as an official (website) Cool Dude! Thanks Marek, and boooo Martin Simon. Can't trust a man with two first names.
I do feel a bit bad about my anger towards Martin Simon. I think it was the dog that sent me over the edge. Thank you for joining.
Imagine if it was Martin Simon's dog!
Couldn't help feeling slighted by this comment. Admittedly I'm not very trustworthy, but still...
@@cdwc also today I received my pack! I'm now Cool Dude #740! Awww yeahhhhhh
Brilliant. 😂
The thing I hate seeing on walks(apart from flashers) are rats and mice. There are loads along the canal and the old railway path by me. 😑
As for maturing tastebuds-I love sushi and strong cheese now whereas I wouldn't touch anything like that twenty years ago. My diet has been very interesting over the last few days though. On Sunday I ate a flapjack cake, on Monday I ate two slices of toast and some hash browns and yesterday I ate cheese on toast and instant mash potato. Mmm ALL of the beige. 😋
Oh, RUclips vids-my son has got me into themepark vlogger vids like Themepark worldwide and Coaster crazy. I also like those vids where Americans react to British food. Utter trash I know but addictive. I still don't understand why Americans hate Turkish delight so much.
Yes you are right about sushi. Once I had some sashimi which was served on ice, it was magnificent.
Also strongly agree that rats are gross.
Saw your silhouette.... thought it was bigfoot. he he.
I forgot to recommend videos by Marc English.
I couldn't find him and then found 'Marq English.' He is very good.
Not your favourite walk. What are your top 5 walks on the Isle of Wight. Think mine starts at Bonchurch pond and straight up onto top of Bonchurch down. Then down Nansen Hill. Devil's Chimney. Along Landslip to Monks Bay.
I don't know if I have visited Monks Bay. I like Tennyson Down and Freshwater Bay, Newtown Creek and the bit all the way from Ryde to Bembridge.
This is an emoji version of the field you went through.
Bloody Martin Simon
I feel a bit bad giving him such a hard time in retrospect.
@@cdwc You should write your own guide
Maybe sunglasses Marek is Martin Simons. What a terrifying thought.
Nice one cool dude. The Shaturday morning cartoons sounds great. I will check them out.
Another fantastic video cool dude other channels I watch are WICKED GAMER AND COLLECTOR also I like to watch ASHENS plus loads of detecting stuff.
Excellent cool dude. I will check them out
You literally scared the poo rightbout of those sheep teeheehee ;-)
I am looking forward to the next sheep field to see if it happens again.
Here from shrouded hand
Nice one cool dude.
Re. RUclips recommendations - If pens are your thing you might enjoy Peter Draws
Yes cool dude. He's on my recommendations list in the details.
Great video Marek, once again. How many points does one get for surviving a dog attack?
This is an excellent question. If you had seen how old this dog was close up it would probably be only half a point.
I wasn't fast enough to order a shirt. Will have to wait til you restock so you can send it all in one parcel. Public walking on private land isn't a thing here, but dogs can still be a menace. My other regular youtube channel is It's a Wonderful Life.
I have not heard of that one. Will check it out. I might order another short run of the T-shirts I did not anticipate they’d be popular.
Nice 1rd cool dude
Cool man.
I’m glad you have your pink stick, dog attack shield of choice.
Everyone respects the power of the pink stick. Thank you for saving my life.
I think the gopro looks pretty good dude.
Yes I am pretty impressed with it, although I keep setting it to photo mode by accident. It is certainly a lot lighter.
Haha I'm well going to put up some ANGRY FARMER signs. You should check out this dude Marek Larwood's channel he's usually good for a laugh. Im gonna check out that Jab Betty's channel he looks like he could be my dad.
I think Jab Betty is Grandad.
@@cdwc Jab. Ha. I love autocorrect. He might very well be. He does a great impression of him
I like parsnip and peanut butter now (not together😉), but I hated it as a kid
I have never really got into peanut butter, but I like Satay sauce now which I suppose is almost the same. As for parsnips, I am the same as you but it might be because I have them cooked in honey now.
@@cdwc 👌
I can't abide walking next to or near busy roads. I will endure all manner of danger, inconvenience, and awkwardness in order to not have vehicles flying by me.
Storm Eunice broke my fence
I bought a shirt 😊
Thanks cool dude.
Probably got far more enjoyment from the dog attack than either you or it intended.
John roger
Yes he is good.
Hi Marek, technical question, what format do you film in and what do you use to edit please?
Great bus driving, get a hat and an envelope ready.
I film in 4K. I normally use an Olympus Em1 Mark III but the last two I have used a GoPro Hero 10. I use Rose radio mics. All my gear is on the website.
Rode not Rose that was autocorrect.
@@cdwc
What about editing software?
Final cut x
