The joy of living in Arizona no seasonal changeover, I do own a light coat can't remember the last time I wore it. Also own one cardigan can't recall when I last wore that either. I organized my closet several years ago, it remains organized because I do the one in one out system. I did empty it recently just so I could repaint, it looks fresh and clean.
Nice job, Sophia. Your bedroom looks great and you do too! You have lost a lot of weight! I just went through my closet last week when I changed seasons. Two suggestions. Hang everything. It's so much easier. No more folding t-shirts, jeans etc. Maybe remove the top few shelves and add a hanging rack keeping one shelf in between. Second, I use plastic hanging dividers from Amazon like you see in stores that hook right on the clothing bar to divide my clothes. I use a label maker and add a label to each piece. I have the following labels: projects (project tshirts), tanks, sleeveless, short sleeve, 3/4 sleeve, sets, etc for summer then have sweaters and other categories for winter. I also have all clothes facing in one direction. Finally, I love clothes but limit myself to 200 hangers. That way, I am forced to purge on a regular basis. The amount is less important than having a defined amount of hangers so that I don't outgrow my space. I do wear everything since I love clothes. I limit shoes and nail polish as well. It really helps. I also have a Goodwill box at all times. Easy to purge as I go. Regarding the check, if you contact the issuer, they may be able to re-issue the check to you if you call them and told them you never cashed it. Good luck.

Every time you show your room I am in awe of everything you did. I enjoyed that series so much. Would it work to change a shelf for a hanging rack so more clothes could be hung up rather than folding? Or fold pants so all tops can be hung? Maybe switch to all the thin hangers of the same color, maybe the light ones for you and dark ones for Scott with the wood hangers only for jackets, suits, like that. That seems like it would be easier to see what you have with less work. What do you think?
I have to think about it. I am not particularly tall so putting another row of hanging clothes may not be a good solution for me. These are good suggestions though.

I’ve kept an annual inventory since 2014. I don’t like clothes or shopping for clothes either. So, I tend to keep my wardrobe small. Just the items I like to wear. I assess my needs and plan purchases each year. Last year - I bought new underwear, new nightwear and a pair of black loafers to wear with dressier slacks. This year I need new sneakers, jeans and a few tees.
Beautiful project. You have your own sense of style with vibrant colors and patterns. I streamlined my wardrobe from three closets to one large walk in closet. Lots of business suits, dresses and shoes donated. (It feels great to be semi-retired.)
My mother and I were just discussing the Marie Kondo method of sorting through possessions today. I said if I got rid of every article of clothing that didn't give me "joy" , I would have nothing left to wear! But... can't go around "nekked"! sigh...
I’m glad I don’t have to do this. I can’t wear long sleeves or anything that is heavy. I’m constantly hot. I wear short sleeves all year and maybe a hoodie if it’s cold.
About the cheque get in touch with the company if they are a good company they will honour it. I now keep 7 everyday outfits and 2 smart going out outfits, it has been a life changer for me.
Excellent job! I have used various sizes, styles and brands of vacuum storage bags for over 20 years and love them [well most of them] as there are better brands and styles than others, but they really help to store seasonal clothes and bedding down to quite small/flat, and many can even store away in unused luggage. The early experiments I made with cheaper ones [dollar store type] were a flop, but other brands worked great. Most are designed to store about 6 months, then re-compressed to stay compressed for longer term.

I go through my closet about 3 times a year. In january to realy purge, to plan what/if I need something for the year to come and to clean it out. In the spring/early summer. I keep all my clothes in the closet and wear some of it all year around tho I swap places to get easy axess to different stuff depending on season. In the fall, same as before summer, to swap places to get better axess. I have about 45 pieces of clothing, not counting my flanel pyjamas (plural) , my bikini, shoes, or my 3-4 jackets for different seasons and weather. I don´t count underwear either but gym/running/yoga clothes are included. All my clothes (accept my bikini and pyjamas) are black and all of them accept the wool items can be washed together. I live in Sweden and need clothes for different weather and seasons otherwise I would have way less clothes. I have never had "loads" of clothes and over time
Please contact the company about that check. They may have it on their books or have reported as unclaimed property. In one of my prior jobs, I supported this function. It’s not unusual for people to find old checks. The money should not be lost to you. Good luck!!!

I have the opposite problem with so many clothes being too small but I found out that I have thyroid issues and perimenopause. I've lost 10 lb from intermittent fasting in the first 4 months but I've plateaued so I have to make some diet tweaks and get out walking when the weather cooperates and work my butt off decluttering and cleaning when it doesn't.
@@mygreatchallenge My doc is hesitant to prescribe meds because, even though I have the antibodies that show I have Hashimoto's, my TSH isn't too far over the normal range, so I'm just doing what I can with supplements like Vitamin D. I've even given up vegetarianism to try to eat more protein and less gluten. It's been less than a year since my diagnosis but I'm astonished by how common this autoimmune disease is!

You said you loved some so lay those out and build a small wardrobe out of those. Then pick out some more of like items. One in one out. Then you end up with all things you love.
Do you donate the winter clothes now or hold off until a couple of months before they the fall/winter season starts? BTW, I wish I could fast forward / speed up decluttering my closet/house!😊 But it is inspirational to see you go through your house. I am working on mine also. Every little bit helps.
I donate them now. Goodwill will sort it out and more than likely sell to a recycling company. I can t imagine anyone would want my clothes. My standards are really low when it comes to clothing.
Wow you decluttered so much! Just an observation but that one long sleeve button down that is a kind of periwinkle blue - it seems like it doesn't belong in your wardrobe because the underlying tone is cool, while all your other clothes are warm toned. 🤷♀️ Just what I noticed. 🙂

I donate them now. Goodwill will sort it out and more than likely sell to a recycling company. I can t imagine anyone would want my clothes. My standards are really low when it comes to clothing.

Wow you decluttered so much! Just an observation but that one long sleeve button down that is a kind of periwinkle blue - it seems like it doesn't belong in your wardrobe because the underlying tone is cool, while all your other clothes are warm toned. 🤷♀️ Just what I noticed. 🙂
H&M takes used clothing for recycling no matter the condition. Goodwill accepts as well.

She did a video in Dec 2023 about what she did and a week of what she eats. She follows AIP (Autoimmune Protocol) diet and keeps her daily calories under 1500.
Maybe time for a new suit that fits you Sophia. Someone else will enjoy the one you have that no longer fits you. I think you earned it.
