Yaaay! F1! I loved watching the last 4 seasons with my dad and now we are watching the 5th as a tradition night at father daughter time. I think it's a series that generates empathy for all the discipline and effort of each rider even though we have our favourite. 🥰 We love the racing season and the series 🤗

🤍🙂🌎Just wanted to mention that many thrift stores have salvage companies they work with that will take old worn/ripped/stained etc clothes that people think they should throw away because no one will want them. At the non-profit thrift store I volunteer with, the salvage company gives us 10 cents per bag for these types of items. It may just be a dime but every penny helps the organization AND it keeps these kinds of things out of the landfills🌞

Decluttering always feels so good! My daughter is almost the same height as me and I’ve slowly been giving her clothes I’ve had since I was a teenager. She loves to wear my clothes, so it’s nice to be able to give her clothes i haven’t wore in awhile. Helps to save money and most importantly, she’s happy because she gets to keep my clothes. Lol
Try wooden hangers!!! Makes a total 180! Soothing most elegant I got my grandkids into that type hangers I buy little by little

I never thought about color coordinating the closet. I get more function from all types of clothing being together. All blazers, all tanks, all short sleeve blouses, etc.

Some clear shoe organizers would be ideal in your closet. They'd help manage the dust, utilize vertical space whilst still being able to see what you have.
I love when you organize and get rid of things. I do it all the time too. Feel so much better with less “stuff”. As far as Holiday decor I have decided to use only fresh greens, flowers fruit etc to decorate. So easy to undecorate since you don’t save it. I do use Christmas China, sterling silver pieces, crystal to make it beautiful. Same with Easter. ( I read several years ago that using fresh, live plants/ fruit
is great feng shui ) get Ideas from Colonial Williamsburg decor books.

Hi Lauren. What a daunting task, but you made it. Feels so good. I am in Tennessee and we have orange metal containers in various areas that are sponsored by Mother's against drunk drivers. They get a portion of anything donated and you can put anything in there from a ripped up stuffed animal, basically anything material, clothes, shoes, purses, and everything gets shipped to Texas where it is gone through, and they separate it into whether it could be sold to a thrift store or sent to China to make seats. Nothing goes into a landfill. Google where to recycle old fabric.
Hi Lauren, I recently started forcing myself to declutter. Two things that help ALot: 1. If you haven’t worn it in 2 years, get rid of it, and, 2. For every new item you buy, one item has to leave the closet. Plus, cleaning out the closet means you have room for more and get to go shopping🤗
I go by those 2 rules as well. :)
there is way to many clothes in the world, building mountains of garbage. Plz consider that, every time you think you need something new.
That is so much inventory to manage. I just don't have that much capacity. This closet is my worst nightmare. 🤣

Decluttering my closet... I've been threatening to do that for a long time! I wish mine was a big as yours! Actually, I could stand to have a whole room! I need to begin spending 15 minutes a day doing just this! Tossing out many old torn or worn out things will be a great start!
I worked, retired from a bank job after 32 yrs and had LOTS of nice clothes.I just got rid of over 100 pieces of clothes out of my walk in closet, drawers last Friday, Saturday at a big 100 mile yard sale called Peaches to Beaches. I've been DECLUTTERING my whole house and had over 200+items at the yard sale. Made very good $$$.
Lauren, you did such a great job!! Proud of you :-) A tip: hang all your hanger in the opposite direction, when you wear something, switch them and after 5,6, months you clearly see what you did wear and what you didn´t even touch :-)

What an undertaking. I've been doing mine but have had to do it in sections. Technically speaking I could get rid of more, but I got rid of 50-60% I love that Enzo had a little place carved out in there for napping.

My closet organizing prep is to consult/edit my outfit Pinterest board to get myself in the mindset of what I want to wear, not what do wear. For example, if I want to focus on wearing a certain line or style or particular pieces I keep things that align with my vision. Alternatively if there are items I keep wearing but I don’t want to wear (a shlumpy sweater) I add it to my shopping list to find an alternative I will actually wear that actually align with my vision.

I began with my career clothes, shoes, etc. Postmark, eBay, and the other reselling platforms are really wonderful. And donating is the best, knowing others will benefit from your good taste! 😍

Yes! Yes! Yes! This is a fabulous wardrobe reset! ❤ the comment about camouflage… and age appropriate attire. I feel that way about crop tops… as a 54 fit marathoner, I can certainly pull it off but is it age appropriate 🤷♀️.
I feel that they can be age appropriate if it's a nicer material and paired with high rise pants :)

You have an incredible amount of clothing & shoes. At this point I'd only keep my favorite. Trying them on may help to bring you into the here & now. 💕
Your closet situation is exactly what my closet is. I have been contemplating and making excuses because I don’t know where to start. I have clothes that’s 30 yrs old.
If you would like to keep only clothes you actually wear then a good tip is to turn the hangers the ‘wrong’ way as you are going through them in a declutter like this. After you ACTUALLY WEAR an item and hang it back up, you put it back in with the hanger now facing the ‘correct/ normal’ way. Then when you go to do a declutter again in 3-6 months a lot of the work is done for you and it is more ‘objective’ data not just what you think you might remember wearing. Another very helpful exercise to do BEFORE. you do a declutter like this, is to look at your ACTUAL calendar/ planner and look at your average days and then hours and week. Calculate/ count how many hours per week you spend doing various activities. At home, at gym, running errands, school pick up/ drop off/ coffee with friends, date night etc. Then convert the numbers into a pie chart with percentages. It is most helpful to have the number of clothing and footwear items reflect the same percentage of time we spend in each type of activity category. It is a good ‘reality check’ and helps curb ‘fantasy self’ over shopping. I only suggest it because you literally said this in the video. You have so many clothing items and shoes but you ACTUALLY only wear a very small amount in your ‘real’ day to day life. Lots of videos on RUclips about how to ‘declutter’ your fantasy self. If you want.

If you do heel..toe on the shelf you can get more on the shelf… also you can see heel height at a glance. I always clean closet when I’m having a fat feeling day!😂 Thin felt hangers from Target really look good in closet and hold your clothes nicely. Good Luck!!

Hi because I live in a very small space I use the vacuum bags each season I have to bag all my fall clothing and because the bags get so flat they go under my bed as I pull out my summer clothes.Not much closet space unfortunately because I live in a very old farmhouse.I recently bought a modern small clothing rack for my coats.Thats how I roll

I saw a tik tok the other day where a woman took a pic of every pair of shoes she had and then put them in clear shoe containers with the shoe pic on the front so she could stack them and see what was in every box . Loved the idea

I gave this a like because like you I am decluttering/cleaning too. 2 things you won't find in my closet is polka dots and horizontal strips in clothing. I am a tee shirt collector and have a hard time getting rid of them. I like the idea of hanging up the shorts.
Hopefully this reaches you before you head to Goodwill & please understand this is meant from a good place and in response to your words. Goodwill's policy is not to put anything out that has stains, smells, or holes. By dropping these items off to them you're actually making more work for them to have to sort through and dispose of.
Also, I love that you're checking the pockets of your outerwear - I do the same thing (with my purses too) and tend to find the oddest stuff as well as some cash which is never a bad thing lol.
I'm sure you're aware but you'd could add 50% more storage space by using the vertical space above the shoe shelves. Pull-down rods for seasonal wear and/or additional shelves would be ideal for that closet.

It looks like you keep all your seasonal clothes together. It’s always a big help for me to separate them out.
