Well I just ordered a patrol! But question. I thought it was specd with a 160mm front and you had said 170mm front in the video. Is that correct? Also what would going up 10mm in the front end do and leaving the back 160mm
Very cool seeing Transition giving a saddle height reference for STA. That's very legit. Some companies really "fudge" their STA numbers by measuring at unrealistic spots to make their numbers look better. I won't mention any names....
holy frick, the lines on that alu patrol.....I'm speechless, it belongs in a design museum....I do not think you could get any more beautiful than that. It just all ties in so well... It's like peak bike aesthetics IMO. Even the carbon frames are so pretty.
Just got a Spire, it's incredible. Transition makes amazing bikes. I have loved my Norcos and Specialized previously but the Transition Spire is quite literally perfect.
Great work Vital. You guys lead the way for modern mountain bike reviews in my opinion for the most transparent, direct, honest, assessents of bikes and equipment while giving accurate technical info without spinning things or dumbing them down for reader. Thanks, keep it going dudes!
True talk! Love old patrol's geo. And really want to try new one, but that 440mm chainstays! It seems goog only for falling steep in Squamish. But I want to do bunnyhops on my home trails!
Hi. Do you have experience with Marin alpine trail c2? I want to buy a Transition Sentinel and discovered Marin. The geometry is almost the same on paper, the Marin is only 1 cm longer in the front and 1 cm shorter in the rear, to put it simply (the reach is a centimeter longer and the chainstays are a centimeter shorter... And the price of the Marin is unbeatable... Thanks a lot for the answer, Pavel.
Maybe they should figure out how to produce the 2020 Spur that’s been unavailable fir over a year. Once they achieve that then move on to expand choices.
We need more size specific chain stays... industry needs to adapt, all manufacturers should do this period. XS can't have same as an XXL frame and both behave as they need to behave... It's BS.
More "poppy" than a full 29 setup and easier to make the bike drift around turns smoothly, but less overall speed and traction. (Depending on the rider of course)
The annoying thing with this type of setup is that the front half of the bike rolls over big bumps easily, but the rear end can feel like it gets caught up in the bump as the front can basically travel over that bump more efficiently than the rear end.
I suspect it was a preproduction release for the media companies, which is different than a proto, but will not have the same clean finished look of a production unit. I think Pinkbike got some of them as well. Same bikes though.
Just a quick copy paste from my comment on Pink Bike...LOL. Maybe it's time to just start riding choppers. The next company will want to be more progressive and make a 61-degree head angle and so on. I mean, why not just jump right to 50 degrees? While they are at it, let's just do an 80mm BB drop and run 135mm cranks. I swear the bike industry is so dumb sometimes.
Have you ridden a more modern bike? While it is true you can still ride everything with a 2015 bike, but the sketch facture goes up by a lot. Now the constant changing of standards is a scam.
@@s14tat Just some standards are stupid! For example PF BB are relevant for XC because of weigh savings but I hate it on Enduro and trail bikes. Axles are just ways to get more lateral stiffness without adding much weigh
@@madeiradriftin4429 I don't want to say I agree with boost spacing because that just means it's okay to have super boost. Where does it stop? Bb standards are dumb. They should be be just threaded.
@@s14tat I also like threaded a lot better but the XC folks dont. And Specialized dont either because they are all about making light bikes that cost 6k and only last 2 or 3 years so you buy another carbon bike after Bruni wins the next WC on his full alloy build with Maxxis tires that say butcher on the sidewall 😂
🤔 Would you go Patrol or Spire? 🤔

The new Patrol looks like the perfect Party-Do-It-All Bike to me. Nice insights by Lars!
Super good video, loved the interview with transition really helped. Well done on this one Vital

pleasantly surprised by the interview, smart questions honest answers
U said the patrol has a 170 fork, when in the graph 3:54 it says 160
Damn and i just got my sentinel in a xxl, those longer chainstays would’ve been nice
Would you say the patrol is geared more towards downhill and the new Bronson is more of a trail bike?
what's the weight of the alum model, fully built?
Esta será mi siguiente bicicleta 🎉
It’s been a long time since we’ve had snow at Wilson Creek, this must have been a while ago! Both bikes look sick
hi
im 180 cm with short legs, if i want go on M instead L, the spire doesn't work as well ?
i live around tricky switch back and lot of rocky terrain
Could you use that in Enduro Races?
If you put a mullet on the spire, would this be the dream bike?
How would you say the patrol compared to that Bronson?
It would compare to the nomad better
So when will they be available for purchase from transition's website and will they give the option for at least some I9 Hydra hubs?
This is cool and all, but how do I actually buy one? :D

Don’t understand why there no option to put the rear brake cable in the frame.
They did that on purpose. Mechanics worst nightmare in the frame

Everything was already updated the last year or so. The Sentinel, Spur and Scout are all new (at least 2020).
Too bad the Patrol doesn't have a carbon option. I really want to try a carbon bike for once.
funny how no one complains all transition bikes look the same, apparently that can only be Santa cruz's fault :)
Where's my carbon smuggler!
Getting smuggled into the country, failed attempts till now though... 😋
What's the advantage of having a 29 up front and a 27.5 on the rear🤔
Lower rolling resistance over bumps, smaller turning radius at turns. Lower center of gravity behind the seat over the tire.

Man, RIP the downhill bike...
Patrol Mullet all day
As a geometron owner its very close. sizing is a bit off and seat angle needs to change per size
Fox could make a 3800g 44 and you people would forget the 38 ever existed.
