I am totally impressed seeing Tor flying down the trails. Insane speed for an unknown bike. Can't wait to see what he does once everything is dialed in properly. 👍
such a sweet build you know he rips because he went for a spire instead of a sentinal. I rescently bought a sentinal because the spire is a different kind of beast than i wanted.
Love the Spire and great riding! Interesting that you found the 38 over damped, I found the similar thing on my 36. Hooked up a shock wiz recently and ended up settling on HSC and LSC 4 clicks from wide open and I am 200lbs (Neutral/Poppy selections). HSR and LSR were not far off from recommended settings and pressure was set to 100psi. I have not used the shockwiz on my Zeb on my other bike, but I can tell even with my base settings on the Zeb, it is for sure more plush and forgiving feeling than my Fox 36. Granted the Zeb is 170mm and is paired with a Push coil.
Awesome video! My friends love their Hayes brakes but use the Hayes -D rotors 203. I definitely see the advantages of the larger SRAM rotors but would like to see Hayes step up and offer a 220 with their design.
Hey Sjaan! So far they’ve been a dream! That being said I’ve only had the chance to ride them in ideal conditions with some amazing dirt. I’m interested to see how they hold up in some different conditions. I’ll let you guys know if there’s anything more to report down the line!
Right now those Hayes Dominion brakes are really speaking to me.. I feel like of Remy Metalier gives them so much praise and they're popular for Trials riding at the same time they can't be bad, not bad at all 👀
It seem to rattle a lot. Is it the dropper post cable? I run a large by the way having your size. After a couple years of downsizing, I went for the bigger size this time and couldn't be happier. My build is a bit different but at the end of the day it's about the rider and you are a lot better than I am.
Tor, did you have any issues with the 2.0mm thick rotor in the A4 caliper? The Hayes stock rotors are 1.95mm so I was wondering if the extra thickness cause any excess/unmanageable pad rub/issues. Reason I ask is because I was hoping to run bigger rotors (220s) with my Dominions, but Hayes only makes up to 203! Thanks in advance
Alex, it took a little more effort than usual to get the brake caliper aligned on the rotor but there’s definitely enough clearance to make them work together.
Do you recommend the 35 mm rise bar? Or should I stick with the stock that comes with it? not sure what difference it would make. I am a little shorter about 5'9
Thanks for the comment! That Deity stem was 50mm but I ended up switching it out for a 40mm ANVL stem to get my stem length a bit closer to my fork offset! -Tor
hey man, I am about 6 ft tall and just ordered a spire in L. would you recommend that I get the 210 drop one up? it seems I won't be able to get full insertion, but just wondering if you would run the same dropper on a size L given we are similar in height.
Hey Ian! I've been running the 210 Oneup with no issues in clearance but the only way to know is to measure everything yourself. We just recently uploaded a video going over this process, here's the link to it! -Tor ruclips.net/video/sc5Durnm9-I/видео.html
Just wanted to save some cash as the Factory version doesn’t offer any performance benefits over the performance elite. Also I’m a fan of the stealthy black look 👌
Hi Heath! Before committing to the purchase I have to recommend sitting on both sizes just to see if one of them feels more comfortable for you. It really comes down to preference because you fall in the recommended height range for both sizes. If you can't get onto one, I recommend comparing the geometry of your current bike to the different sizes and seeing if it's close to one of the two. That way you can get an idea for how it would fit without having to try one in person.
But why are you running Big Betty in Front? - I work for a bike manufacturer using Schwalbe Tyres and this is really grinding my gears more than it should... You can go Betty/Mary or Mary/Mary but Betty/Betty really hurts my inner Monk.
I believe the spacers/washers you are talking about are for running a 203 rotor on a 200 adapter. If you use them when you already have the correct size adapter, you will not get sufficient pad/rotor contact because the caliper will be too high
Hi, are you still happy wis Size M and your 511 (180cm) height? I am the same size an struggling between M and L and would be happy if you can give me a hint. THX from germany
Hi Cristoph! Tor here! I think that I would be happy with either size but I think it comes down to what your intentions are with the bike. For me, when I'm racing an enduro stage that I've only ridden once before and am not that familiar with, I find that a slightly smaller bike that is a bit more maneuverable to be more advantageous than a longer bike that is more stable at speed. Or if you're sticking to your home trails that you know like the back of your hand and are riding at top speed, then the Large may be a better fit for you. Also, comparing the geometry numbers to your previous bike could give you a hint as to which you would be more comfortable on. For example, if you're feeling a little cramped on your current bike and its reach and wheelbase are right between the M and L Spire, then it's probably a good idea to upsize to the Large! Let me know if this helped or if you have any more questions!
That is the problem, you shouldnt put everything open. I had the same problem, did a service and put in the base settings and the fork was crisp. Guy zt the shop told me thzt putting everything open doesnt work like you think it does
Hey Daniel! The Spire is still the raddest bike I've ridden and has held up perfectly in the long run. I did switch out for a carbon frame to save weight, and I sized up to a large after riding a medium and large back to back. But I've only gotten to love this bike more after a year of riding it and have no plans to sell it yet! -Tor
Heck ya! Always good to hear someone likes their bike! Thanks Tor! Blue Steel while narrating is seriously impressive. You guys all crush it at lostco, thanks a bunch.
@@TheLostCovery curious to hear about the difference in ride characteristics going from aluminum to carbon. With that huge head tube I was wondering if you found it harsh/stiff?
Check out Tor's bike check, he dives a little bit more into why he chose the Spire based on geometry. thelostco.com/blogs/blog/staff-bike-checks-tors-transition-spire
Yea the spire and patrol look very similar, especially in the raw aluminum finish. Main difference is the dual 29” wheels on the spire vs the mullet setup on the patrol.
I'm excited for Tor's excitement that he's excited about! We all know that new bike day feeling
Ive got it now just got a scott genius and some new gear
I new that feeling this morning! Specialized Satus, BABY!!!
Status?
This is the most exciting video I've seen. Was excited to see it, excited I saw it, and excited to tell everyone about it!
everything about it was exiting!
Soooo… I’m excited? Lol 😂

I live all the way across the country and still go to you guys for parts. always impressed with the service and shipping.
That is awesome to hear!! Thanks for all of your support!
You were flying dude. Both through the woods and those jumps. That was awesome!
btw i love the low standover height of the frame!
Dude, what a rig! Put it through its paces properly!
tor's first ride on freshly built bike was full throttle! gosh he is FAST!!! 😭 awesome build nothing like new bike day :)
NBD!!!! I'm looking at a Spire. Now I'm excited! Excitement is contagious!!!!!
Sick bike dude and you are rippin those trails!
2 minutes into the video and I'm loving it, cheers from Mexico!!

I use my Hayes A4 on cheap Boss Snail chinese rotor 203s f/r and they're super powerful. I almost went over the bar first time I was using it.
well done, really good feedback on the ride. Great rider as well. thanks!
What did you think about the dual Bettys? I just picked a MM ultra soft and a couple of Bettys for rears and never thought about running them F/R
Would run a mm super soft

The best gripping tires i had, at the cost of roll efficiency
you'd be better off running mm super soft in front and big betty soft gravity casing in rear

Never got the X2 to work correctly on my sentinel. Even after rebuild. Surprisingly the topaz t3 feels great at HALF the weight.

Those bars are weirdly difficult to nail the angle on, the oval section + funky bend just make it hard to eyeball. Good vid!

Yooo 5'11 And you went with a medium, thats crazy 🤪. I'm 5'10 ! I went with a large, also because my repeater is a large.

air spring just feels diffrent, fox forks are sitting deeper in travel comparing to rockshox, that my thoughts from riding my lyrik and buddys fox36
