Hello - You have so many fantastic videos. Can you please advise as to which ones to actually begin (aka as a true beginninger) with and the core set of equipment/paint? Thank you.
Hey Jackie! Welcome to my channel! I know it can be a daunting task to find good "beginner" and "easy" watercolor tutorials! I have a couple I think you should try though. You do make it look so easy but, I understand practice makes perfect. Could you tell me what you used to draw the flowers on. Was this a pencil and also will the lines be seen? Thank you so much for the tutorial and sharing with us.
Thanks Kim for your question! I like when people are willing to ask me questions because then I can help make sure you can be successful with your paintings! I am just using a simple mechanical pencil to draw the outline. (I'll put a link for it at then end,) I use this pencil ALL the time for my sketches, and the eraser works good too! Sometimes the pencil lines can be seen, the trick is to draw the outline VERY lightly! Then when the painting is done and TOTALLY dry, (make sure it's completely dry or it might smear!) sometimes you can go back and erase some of the more visible pencil lines. Hope this helps a little bit! Thanks for watching Kim! Mechanical Pencil (paid link) amzn.to/3QeXK6K Eraser Refills (paid link) amzn.to/3VS2S1H P.S. I recommend the 0.5 lead size.
Lovely! thank you for sharing this with us the viewers. 🌺🌷🌺🌷Greetings from The Netherlands , I'll be viewing more of your work, as I subscribed right away 🌷🌺🌷🌺🌷
Hello my new friend from the Netherlands! 😊 I’m so happy to hear you enjoyed this tutorial. Thank you so much for watching and subscribing Karen, I truly appreciate the support. I look forward to hearing from you in the future! I hope you have a fantastic rest of your week! 🥰
Hi! I’m so happy to hear you’re enjoying the tutorials! Unfortunately all of my work is copyrighted and I don’t allow people to sell it, these are for personal use only. (This is my business and the way I earn money for my family.😉) I put these out because I love helping people learn! But I appreciate so much that you took the time to ask!! 💕 Have a lovely day.
You are so sweet. Painting loose is definitely something I continue to work on! It just goes to show that we all have things that we struggle with and can strive to improve. 🥰 Thanks Tracy, you’re the best. 💕
Love the loose way of painting and want to be able to do the same. Tried to send request for the drawing on Facebook but got an error message. Don’t know a lot about Facebook so probably me. I’ve subscribed to your channel and look forward to seeing more of your work.
Thanks Sue for watching! Sorry the Facebook request didn’t work. Send me an email at lieslsartisticstudio@gmail.com and I’ll make sure you get one that way. 😊 Hope this helps! Have a great day!
Hmmm, I’m not sure why it’s not working for you. I’m so sorry though! Maybe just double check that it’s spelled right and that there are no capital letters? 🤷♀️
I love your work! I purchased the template on your Etsy site. I'm new to watercolor and it will be my first time trying anything like this. Did you re-wet the areas you added more color to at the end? Otherwise wouldn't hard edges form or at least not blend nicely if I just put down wet paint onto these already dried areas? Thanks in advance!
I’m so happy to hear that you’re giving watercolors a try! They can take some practice to get the hang of, but the practice is worth it because they are SO much fun. 🥰 As far as your question goes, I didn’t re-wet the areas, and I may have had a few hard lines in there, but having a few doesn’t usually bother me too much. You’re welcome to try re-wetting the area though if that works better for you. Sometimes when I add in extra color to help soften any hard lines that might occur, I will just clean/wet my brush in water to take off excess color, and then wipe my brush onto my paper towel to dry it off slightly, then use the damp brush to speed it soften the edges of color out a little bit. Really you can try either way and just see what works best for you. ❤️ I wish you all the best in your watercolor journey! Happy painting my friend.
Hi! You can message me on my Liesl’s Artistic Studio Facebook page or you can email me at lieslsartisticstudio@gmail.com and I’ll send you a PDF file. (Or if you want to try drawing it yourself, I show you at the very end of this tutorial. 😊) Thanks for watching and happy painting! facebook.com/people/Liesls-Artistic-Studio/100082036685412/
Sort of a … sadder, I guess, approach to signing my work: I sign and date my artwork when I think to and I tend to do it when I’m unhappy with the final result. Like one day I’ll look back and go “wow, look how much I’ve improved!” Beautiful tutorial and painting! Thank you for sharing. I kind of wish I knew there was a reference drawing at the beginning of the video, because I just started painting along and struggled hard with the perspective. The teaser thing, I get it, but it came off as unrelated. I wish I bought the reference material to not only support you but have an easier and more joyful painting experience
And just to reiterate, YOU are amazing, your tutorial was awesome, I learned new things, you were fun and encouraging. I love the “I guess it’s a poppy with tulip leaves” like, mine was definitely a dahlia-poppy hybrid, and that’s not what’s wrong with my painting.
Thanks for watching Mandy! I actually do say at the beginning of the video (at about the 1 min 20 sec. mark) that I will teach you how to draw the flowers at the end of the tutorial,😉 sorry you missed that part though! I usually do show the drawings at the beginning, but because of an update to the video I did, I had to put it at the end instead. 🤷♀️ I’m glad you figured it out though! I like the idea of not only signing, but dating artwork, it’s awesome to be able to look back and see how we’ve improved! 😊 I appreciate you watching and commenting. Have a wonderful day!
So glad you enjoyed this tutorial! Here is a link to the brush if you'd like to look into it more. amzn.to/3BM8qmN Thanks so much for watching! I hope you have a wonderful day!
I don't know what brand of sap green you are using here, but it looks like a non-granulating paint, which would account for the non-migration into the water half. You might want to consider some Schmincke Horadam or Sennelier l'Aquarelle sap green. Both of which are super granulating.
Yes, last time I checked it was still available. Here is a link for it. (Just FYI I try to list all the links and details of the products I use in my tutorials in the description of the videos if you’d like to check that out. 😉) Paint Brush #4 Dainayw Watercolor Paint Brushes Professional Synthetic Blend Round Squirrel Hair & Horse Hair amzn.to/3LjrJda
Thanks so much for your question and for watching! There are a few different watercolor papers that I like to use, if your looking for high quality paper, I recommend Hahnemuhle Collection 100% Cotton Watercolor Pad (here's a link if you'd like to look at it closer) amzn.to/3JpoIae The downfall of this paper is that it is also a little expensive. So for a cheaper, but still decent quality paper I often use Canson XL Watercolor Paper 140 lb. fold over pad. amzn.to/3WOWxFC (I believe this particular painting I painted on the cheaper Canson paper.) I hope you have a wonderful day! Happy Painting!
Lovely painting. Im trying to find out the difference between mop and quill brushes. Today I thought I found out that a quill was thinner and longer than a mop. The brush you are using looks more like a mop to me. Could you explain pretty please. Im so confused with trying to figure it out. Seems like sometimes quills are called mops and mops are called quills. .. LOL
You know, I think the two names do get used and thrown around together a lot! You probably could consider this a mop brush too if your looking just at the bristles. The reason I have called it a quill is because of how the quill brush got it’s name, and of how it was originally made many many years ago. A “quill” is of course a feather, and in olden days, to make a paintbrush, they used a quill feather, cut the end off and stuffed animal hair inside the cavity, then bound and tied it together to keep the hair tightly inside the quill. The brush I’m using here, I called a “quill” because it was bound like a true quill brush, not necessarily because of the bristles. But your right the two names do tend to go back and forth with each other! Anyway, not sure if I’m accurate or not either, but that’s some of the info that I know! 😊
@@lieslsartisticstudio Thank you, that makes sense. Could you please tell me the brand of the one you were using. Also, beautiful music you were playing on the piano in another of your videos. :-)
😊 I had so many requests to see the outline drawing for this tutorial that I made another version that includes it at the end. 🤷♀️ Don’t know if that was a good idea or not! Ha, ha! Oh well! 😉
Hi Brenda! Welcome to my channel! I've attached a link if you'd like to look into the brush some more. Thanks for watching, have a fabulous day! (Dainayw Watercolor Paint Brush Synthetic Blend Hair) amzn.to/3LjrJda
I’m just using the wet on wet technique for this painting meaning that I paint water on the paper first and then add in the paint causing it to spread and blend easily. I highly recommend watercolor paper for projects with watercolor paints. Other paper is often too thin and because of the amount of water used, it can sometimes rip or soak through. However you can give it a try and see what happens! 🥰
I love this painting but unfortunately I’m not good at loose hence i definitely won’t share this one. I will give it another go down the track though 😅
Ha ha, 🥰 Well, to tell you the truth, it’s not my forte either! 😉 I have to practice that a little more than other things, which is funny to me because you’d think it would be easier! (I’m sure it turned out better than you think though. 😊) Can’t wait to see a piece you feel proud to share!
I absolutely love your paintings and learn a lot from them all - but I will never use a squirrel hair brush, knowing how cruel it is to get those hairs. I understand the US doesn't import them anymore - I hope the UK follows suit!
That is pretty pricy….when I bought it, it was around Christmas time so they had it on a good sale. maybe they’ll put it on sale again this year?? 🤷♀️🤞 Thanks for watching though! Have a lovely evening.😊
@@lieslsartisticstudio You too. I initially thought it was for 1 brush, but after checking it again, I think it was for 4 brushes, so not quite as expensive as I initially thought, but it would be great if they went on sale.
I absolutely loved this tutorial 🌸☺️ Generally I do not like waterbased mediums especially watercolour only because I could not get a grip of them..also it requires lots pf patience . I decided to come out of my comfort zone and tried this painting!! I’m so happy with the results 🥰 Btw do you have an Instagram account..would love to share my artwork with you😄🌸💓
Oh yay! I’m so glad you gave it a try, and that you’re pleased with how it turned out. 🥰 Watercolor is my favorite medium and I love sharing it with people!

I love your tutorials!!! Do you allow people to sell artwork they have created using your tutorials? Thanks for any info!
@@lieslsartisticstudio Thanks for your reply. Everyone else I've asked has said "sure, no problem," but I always ask first to make sure.
Thank you for your understanding! 🥰

Thanks so much for watching Rachel! Have a great day! 😊
The drawing is so helpful! You do loose well !
@@lieslsartisticstudio I tried to email you but could not get it to go through.
So pretty! Where can I find the outline drawing?

Sort of a … sadder, I guess, approach to signing my work:
I sign and date my artwork when I think to and I tend to do it when I’m unhappy with the final result. Like one day I’ll look back and go “wow, look how much I’ve improved!”
Beautiful tutorial and painting!
😉🥰
Hi, just found you. Love your work. And that brush, intriguing. I would love to purchase it. any suggestions? thanks.

Beautiful!❤
Thanks so much for watching Connie! 😊
I don't know what brand of sap green you are using here, but it looks like a non-granulating paint, which would account for the non-migration into the water half. You might want to consider some Schmincke Horadam or Sennelier l'Aquarelle sap green. Both of which are super granulating.
Thanks for the tip! I’ll look into it!
Can that brush be purchased on Amazon? If so, kindly tell me the name. Thank you & loved your tutorial & artwork!
Yes, last time I checked it was still available. Here is a link for it. Excellent - what watercolor paper are you using?
I’ve sent you the name and link on your other comment. 😊😊
Beautiful, as always🩷🖌🎨
😊 I had so many requests to see the outline drawing for this tutorial that I made another version that includes it at the end. 🤷♀️ Don’t know if that was a good idea or not! Ha, ha! Oh well! 😉
What is the actual brand of that brush please ?. I would like to buy one if I can find one here in Australia. Thanks.
Here's the link to where I got these brushes, the brand is Dainayw. amzn.to/3BM8qmN
Beautiful. I just found your channel! Can you tell me what brand the paint brush is?
Hi Brenda! Welcome to my channel! I've attached a link if you'd like to look into the brush some more. Thanks for watching, have a fabulous day! (Dainayw Watercolor Paint Brush Synthetic Blend Hair) amzn.to/3LjrJda
I have never seen this technique. Is that a water brush I have never used it this way. I use it to blend my water color pencils when I’m finished.
I’m just using the wet on wet technique for this painting meaning that I paint water on the paper first and then add in the paint causing it to spread and blend easily. Here is a link to the brush I’m using if you’d like to check it out. 🥰 Paint Brush #4 Dainayw Watercolor Paint Brushes Professional Synthetic Blend amzn.to/3LjrJda

Hi what brush do you use?

can we use a4 instead of watercolour paper
I highly recommend watercolor paper for projects with watercolor paints. Other paper is often too thin and because of the amount of water used, it can sometimes rip or soak through. However you can give it a try and see what happens! 🥰
Wie heißt denn dieser Pinsel ? Viele Grüße 🍀
Hello! The brand of the brush is called Dainayw. Have a good day! 😊
@@lieslsartisticstudio ganz lieben Dank.
Herzliche Grüße 🙋♀️🍀🫶
Gern geschehen. 🥰🎨
@@lieslsartisticstudio ❤️
You can always share to help others who do like loose painting discover it 😊
Is this acrylic paint or watercolor
This is done with watercolor paints. ☺️
Класс!
Thank you! 🙏 😊💜
I only feel comfortable signing paintings that are completely my own. If I follow a tutorial or use a provided drawing, etc. I don't feel it's mine.
I hear ya Stephanie! That’s totally understandable. 😊 Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment today! Have a lovely evening.
I absolutely love your paintings and learn a lot from them all - but I will never use a squirrel hair brush, knowing how cruel it is to get those hairs. I understand the US doesn't import them anymore - I hope the UK follows suit!
I appreciate your feelings. Take care!
Beautiful painting. I was excited to try the brush, until I went to Amazon and found out it was $40. Yikes.
😊
Ok I see now it just looks like a water brush oops lol
I absolutely loved this tutorial 🌸☺️
Generally I do not like waterbased mediums especially watercolour only because I could not get a grip of them..also it requires lots pf patience .
I decided to come out of my comfort zone and tried this painting!! I’m so happy with the results 🥰
Btw do you have an Instagram account..would love to share my artwork with you😄🌸💓
Oh yay! I’m so glad you gave it a try, and that you’re pleased with how it turned out. 🥰 Watercolor is my favorite medium and I love sharing it with people!
