Designed terribly. Rush hour runs jams people into the rafters. The BSL cars are far better and they don't see anywhere near as much traffic. you have to consider they were the last things ADtranz built before it was taken over by Bombardier.
@@kevinhoward9593 Not so much ADtranz fault as it is the fault of the original design. The MFL was not designed to haul as much passengers as it actually does. A lot of the failed projects that were supposed to take the load off the MFL was never done, and as a result the city is stuck with this. The MFL by design was supposed to only be a heavy hitter for those going to the northeast and West Philly, but those going to points in Center City were meant to take trolleys, which were supposed to operate from 30th Street to Penn's Landing via Subway. This never came to be and modern day SEPTA has to suffer for this.
