    I remember when I was a teenager and bought some slant plug GM heads that allowed a higher compression rate versus the stock 350 370 HP heads...apparently the better flame propagation made it handle a higher CR

    About 30 years ago going through the evolution. Home ported fuellies with straight plug,, then Dart2s with angle plug then to Edelbrock Victor 23 deg race heads again angle plug. And using the same custom 1 3/4" headers. And the plugs all lobbed in different spots within about an inch circle. With the Edelbrocks I had to select plug brand on plug length and then cut half the nut away as well as cut the plug lead and boot. Then it all fitted fine though plug boots did not last that long and the lead seperators needed to be in a very specific spot as well. 500whp in 2000

  • @timothyarnott3584
    @timothyarnott3584 Год назад +1

    Hey Eric,
    Tim here.......never thought about the flow diffrences between the 2......it was that the plug is angled twd the exhaust valve, to keep it in the hottest part of the chamber, to fascilitate effiecient burn of the incoming charge........so its nice that the angle plug DOES flow more, but i thought that was more about gettin an efficient burn (and potential less timing) from ur head, NOT flow..........correct me if i'm wrong....the MAIN deal is to get an efficient burn of the charge.....flow is a nice extra.....

    In '71 with first angle Plugs came out for small blocks. And using TRW 12.5 to 1 dome pistons. We picked up two tenths.. That was class racing cars.. It never was a mystery for class racers. Your running 12.10. Pop new heads on. Bingo! 11.90.. Thats big time proof to me??.. Was sold in '71 already!!!.. Really showed up with dome pistons...

    Yeah unfortunately I’m stuck with straight plug heads, simply because to have headers that fit an early Chevelle they are all for straight plug. I priced headers that fit angle plug heads; $1500 fricken dollars. Stupidly ridiculous!

    I have read many articles that say angle milling on a SBC can improve high lift 10 cfm or more. I am talking about .125-.150ths angle mill. It would be awesome if you could confirm this?

      Back before angle plug heads the gap was turned or indexed to be on the exhaust valve for the burn and hp gain
