I, actually, made the table the first time I heard about this which must have been 10 years ago. I will say that I used a piece of plywood cut exactly the right measurement to attach the crates to - I wanted it to last a long time. Then I attached the legs to that. I love it, it's still awesome all this time later.
I bought a dozen of the first crates from Michaels as a lot for $99.00.( online only) also I did not have the energy to stain them, I used a lovely dark oak spray paint and kind of wiped it off with paper towels as I went. It gives you said almost the whitewash effect except with dark. They look amazing.
I used 4 also ,but added to smaller ones and made an amazing shelf I love it. Yours is awesome as well I am recreating yours also! THANKS for the inspiration!!! 😊
These crates are so awesome! I love the first project. I have a small vinyl record collection and these crates are perfect for organizing them, but now I want to build something special.
The first one is a really great idea. I would NOT varnish/stain them before gluing them together. Glue is made to absorb into the wood then dry holding both pieces together. The stain blocks the ability of the glue to absorb in and will not hold very well.
I’m 50 years ahead of you. When our first son was born, money was tight. I got three genuine wooden crates from the grocery store. It still had the company name burned into the wood. I think they were vegetable crates. Nailed one atop the other, gave it a little stain and I had free shelves for his toys and books. Wish you could still find things like this, especially for free.😊😊
Great DIY video, I already have the crates and have been wanting to connect them together, although I wasn't quite sure how and this makes it look so easy and clean, I can't wait to try it with my crates. Ty 👍
Really beautuful but I would put a glass top on it. As a senior living in an apt I neither have the space nor the tools but it is inspiring. Thanks for the video.
The crate locker, the ides to stack the crates that way is fine, but in my opinion I would probably have them stacked like that and different colors too and I would probably just have one tall door without any numbers, probably flowers or something like that.
Very useful items, furniture and storage. I’d swap paint/stain techniques to match my decor. The tips will make this a complete work, rather than a craft project.
more than the lovely table you made, I was so happy you were not yelling and hysterical like most of the American diy's I sometimes watch (briefly) lol
Oh you can tell the crate locker was handmade. The first video of the coffee table was👍🏻. Snoopy did one like this on her flip it show she did with her husband.
Love this! I think I might also try brass hardware and decoupage the doors, then a bit of hand sanding over the decoupage. Then sell it online for a fortune. Lady you are going to town with that drill!
Back in the day when oranges came in crates, my sisters and I would get them for free from the grocer’s trash heap. We made all kinds of useful furnishings from them.
They are selling in Michael's for $14.99 now. 18inch ones. I'd like the design that would be more flexible, so you can actually detach these boxes if you are moving or want to change to different usage that'll be great. Instead of gluing them...
Not sure why the 3rd felt she had to number the crates, but stencils would have worked. And she could have painted over the numbers if she wanted them for another use.
What brand and color of stain and wood glue did you use? Do you have a list of all the hardware and tools you used as well? Some of us need way more specific instructions. 🤦🏼♀️
As a carpenter for 25 years I can say those legs won't last long if someone leans on the table or it's moved around. I'd suggest using timber a bit thicker with a couple of dowels and glue also. Looks really nice though, simple yet very effective.
I really like your wood crate table... I piece of glass on top would be my choice if I made it. I did not like the crate locker at all... I am sure you could buy something at a consignment shop/thrift store that would cost less and be much nicer.
When I was a child in the early fifties I had a dresser made out of a crate standing on end w/ fabric over the opening. Nowadays these "craft" crates are unaffordable. Better to find something in a thrift or garage sale.
The first craft with the crates is amazing and I LOVE that man's voice! It's soooo soothing. I could watch and listen to him all day. 🥰
They aren’t the same crates!!
He sounds similar to Bob Ross 🥰
If the 1st person isn't a child's audio book reader he should be. What a soothing voice
Totally agree!!!
Oh my goodness! Yes, he does. ❤
Oh wow, absolutely.

That tape/handle trick to drill the perfect holes for the handle is a great idea 💡.
I have to say I am a huge fan of the lady who did the second project. Anytime I hear her voice I know it is going to be an amazing project.
Where else can I find her?
I love the tape idea for putting the handle on! I'm sure that makes it so much easier.
I love how these 2 DIYs turned out. Amazingly beautiful! Thanks for the share. Cheers!
I LOVE the crate table
Hometalk is upping their game. This is a wonderful idea and tutorial. Great job
Love his voice it's so soft and soothing

Nice table! Thanks

Love both ideas! & the tape trick was genius! Thank you!
Two great ideas! Thank you!
OMGosh, so much potential! Awesome woodworking, love your ideas and ingenuity. Thank you for sharing your video.

Fabulous vid. 👍🏻 The voice soothes my soul.
The table, I'm always thinking of ways to keep my sewing handy 👍
Omgoodness...this guy's voice is fantastic!!!!
Wow this video is awesome loving 🥰 the table made from crates my favorite but they both are beautiful 🙏🥰❤️👍
Great idea for yarn storage and books.
They're both so cool I love both the ideas

Thank you for the wonderful ideas. I have had 3 crates for years and I will be making the lockers
I love the crate locker.❤
I ❤❤❤ the coffee table. Doesn’t look too difficult to make.
Amazing design! Thank you!
Love these tables and crate locker.
I think painting would look better. Very cool idea
You can definitely paint them also. Just depends on what style and finish you are looking for.

Yes!! Thank you!!❤
I liked tthe useful crate table
LOVE THE TABLE ❤❤❤
Very nice and very creative too 🤗.

I love the saw. I’ve never seen that size or style before.
That table turned out so much better than I was expecting.
Loved both ideas can't wait to them both
What a great idea!!

I have these crates as various shelving pieces in 3 different rooms of my house. Going strong for about 5yrs. Love them. ❤️
beautiful!!
I love it. I have 4 crates. I cannot wait to do this project. Thank you thank you
Beautiful just Beautiful
Great Album holding table
I can never get my wood glue to set up on stain how did you do that?
I would put casters on the bottom.
😁 great voice over 👍
Good job that looks cool 😎😎😎😎😎😎
You could do this for matching table and TV stand. I liked that.
That is pretty cool.
Stunning

I thought so too, definitely looked handmade. 🤣
Beautiful!
A hacksaw blade does a great job spreading wood glue. Try it you’ll like it!
Just wow 👌 👏 😍 👍 well down
Amazing table!
I have a barn full of old apple crates haha I’m gonna try this
1. Wood crate coffee table. 4 crates. 2. Stacked wood crate mini lockers. 3 wood crates. With Cupboard doors.
Love this! I think I might also try brass hardware and decoupage the doors, then a bit of hand sanding over the decoupage. Then sell it online for a fortune. Lady you are going to town with that drill!
Amazing!!
First reader has such a great voice. I thought it would have been also good if I wanted to sleep to smo's voice. That voice is a treasure!
I love this!
Fun projects!
To the man who made the coffee table. Beautiful job. And what a soothing voice. You might consider doing some ASMR videos.
Hmm. I should do this for packages
what is the finished size?
Love it
Back in the day when oranges came in crates, my sisters and I would get them for free from the grocer’s trash heap. We made all kinds of useful furnishings from them.
Great projects... you could say thats thinking outside the box (crate) lol

Noted, thanks for the feedback!
What color stain is being used on the coffee table project? I love that color!
Just waiting for him to add a happy little tree!
Not sure why the 3rd felt she had to number the crates, but stencils would have worked. And she could have painted over the numbers if she wanted them for another use.
I would put a glass top on table to dress it up.
I'm going to build the table. I think I'll make a hidden compartment in the center.
What kind of glue
Any type of good wood glue will work. This brand is called Titebond.
The only bad thing is, the slates are stapled in and they don't hold very good. I removed the slates and glued and braid nailed them
This dude using a kindergarten teacher voice lol. I like it though, calm and informative.
Cute

I'd suggest using timber a bit thicker with a couple of dowels and glue also.
Looks really nice though, simple yet very effective.
Wasn't that crate table a thing a few years or more ago?
Nevertheless, thanks for the upload!

I just stained my crates and legs, so tomorrow I will put everything together. Thank you
I love this video
The 2nd lady doesn't know half round from quarter round. An it looks very hand made.
"Perfect centre..."
Hurt my soul.
❤❤❤
When I was a child in the early fifties I had a dresser made out of a crate standing on end w/ fabric over the opening. Nowadays these "craft" crates are unaffordable. Better to find something in a thrift or garage sale.
I would have a piece of plexy cut to fit the top.
Just saying
U didn't need to pre stain????
To bad those crates cost $15 now
Is this a rerun of this video because it seems like I’ve seen it before ?
I don't think so, first time I've seen it.
@@GoodlyEarth thank you… I’ve seen the crate table but not the other one . I like the table that’s a good idea .
that table looks like its made out of pallets
Glue sticks to stain now ????????
❤
