Didnt quite get the segway ref of baby yoda and streaming with 300zx but it was an appreciated effort. ✌
Me and my friend are still in school and we are fixing up a 1984 50th anniversary edition turbo. Thank you so much. As soon as we are done it's going on the gallery.
RX-8?
Lamborghini didn’t “copy” the 300zx headlights, Lamborghini bought the units from Nissan. The carbon strip on the Diablo covers the Nissan markings.
true dat
Facts!
So they copied it? because it was so good
Bet you learned that from Doug
Dovah Kiin No, Lamborghini did not copy. Lamborghini bought and installed Nissan parts on their cars.
After 15 years of fawning over this damn car i can finally walk outside every morning and stare at its beauty, and also cry every time i look at the engine bay 🤦🏽♂️
That bay is such a pain but is worth every knuckle bleed. Separates the men from the boys i guess

There are so many forums, pages and Facebook groups that have all the answers you need to working on this car

It won it twice!! This guy barely knows his shit
I honestly wonder if he even did any reading on it despite having a clip of the IMSA 300zx in this...
Had one!
Loved It!
Lower than a 350z ( Hay, how's the weather up there?)
Not hard to work on. Just ask questions " First!"
Alex: the car did "well" in motorsport and held itself "okay" against the competition.
Me: dude the car won the 12 hours of Sebring, The imsa gts championship and the 24 hours of leMans. It was so fast it was banned from leMans.
Yeah this guy's an idiot, has no clue about the car he's talking about

Welp they just went up $500 cause of this vid lol
People been sleepin on them...i get sooo many questions from people when i go any where...my 350z is nice but my 300zx its my baby..
DANK GAMING with SOFAxKiNGxBAK3D same! The z32 is starting to get attention.
Olivier Bertrand yeah I’ve been trying to get me a good Z31
The z31 300zx is better but nobody talks about those:(
For a car that sold over a million units I don't see it very often in the streets
Ya' know what, try looking up "300zx shows near me" because in any town you can find a nearby Z show, and about 2 or 300 people will show up, and there'll be anywhere from 20 to 100 240, 260, 280, 300, 350's and 370z cars there. You usually see the 260 least often. Only a couple 240's will show up, but mid 80's thru 2010's z cars gallore, at those kind of shows. Me, I want an Isuzu Piazza to restore. Or a Nissan Exa, with a turbo, red top, SR20 swap...
@Carlin Kinkaid whats the downside of buying a car that has been sitting for so long? genuine question btw, couldnt you profit alone by selling the parts?
My neighbor has one laying around I wanna take it from him but idk if he wants to sell it :(
Won’t know unless you ask.

The compliments and head turning that u get when driving one is crazy every one loves them. Love the z32
Facts
For real. I've got a shitbox Z31 and it still breaks necks
Just a couple of days ago a bicyclist stopped next to me at a red light and professed his love for the Z32. A few days before that a guy followed me into a store to tell me how I drive a special car. He said many people today don't even realize what they are looking at. Few weeks before that a guy in a top of the line Lexus parked next to me salivated all over my Z. Of course, it helps that I keep my car immaculate, but those who know, really appreciate the car.
You guys have covered every project car I’ve been considering lol

Ive owned 5 different Z32s over the years in different colors, trim levels, and performance capability. From stock N/A to stock, TT, to heavily modified TT, and every single one never failed in putting a huge smile on my face. They are beautiful, go like a bat out of hell, and drive with grip and poise like they are on rails. The Z32 is and will always be the pinnacle of Z cars. I plan to buy another one soon and this time i refuse to ever sell it.
I remember this car being one of the earliest "concept" looking cars for the street in the 1990s. This car doesn't get enough credit for it's forward thinking design. My favorite "Z" car, hands down.
I bought a 300zx as my first sports car, you can learn so much from them if you care to. 2 years ago I could barely do an oil change now I'm rebuilding an engine from a bare block on my own, this is the way.
P.S. you don't need to swap to make good power, the stock bottom end is reliable to around 600whp but some have held up in the 750+ area
Joseph Rojas actually we don't know the limits of stock block. It's in theory a 1000+ capable my friend ;)

@@andersonng1709 someone already beat you to it, it's pretty gnarly
The reason this car gets so much flak is because in the early 2000s just like Honda Civics this car was treated with some of the worst body kits known to man
Any links to good looking body kits I’m about to pick up a 1995 300zx for really cheap
@@PopSt0ned Most people go with the greddy gracer front or the jdm '99 front bumper. Twinz also makes a lot of nice aero peices including widebodies. Check out z1motorsports.com for twinz stuff. They also look really good stock. Visually I've only done wheels and an ionicdynamics.com rear mspec spoiler and it looks really good.
@@PopSt0ned I would say go Jspec, Stillen, or TwinZ.
This is because a front mount intercooler do not fit under the OEM front facia. The body kits allowed more room in front to add the intercooler. You had to put a body kit on a Honda or Nissan to add HKS intercoolers. You haters have no experience, and are not wise. You lack knowledge. There is a reason for everything even body kits. What is stupid is widebody kits kids install today and fail to add wider wheels, they use spacers, snd do not add horsepower to use them big tires. So widebody kitz are POSER unless you got a turbo or supercharger to spin the wider tires. Did you notice the RX7 from Fast and Furious has a body kit with a front mount intercooler? Intercooler will not fit under the OEM front facia on the RX7. Haters are ignorant. You don't know the purpose of nothing.
I have a fmic behind the oem front bumper of my z32...
I own a 1990 twin turbo 300ZX and I absolutely love it. The engine work can be quite complicated because of the lack of space in the engine bay and Nissan’s engineering of certain part locations, but, driving this car gives me a smile on my face that no other car can. It’s a love-hate relationship and we gotta respect that lol.
I completely agree I commented a hole mint buyers guild and that was my first sentence. U love it but u hate working on it. I think for me the worst part is just the amount of ageist lines on the car.
I've had my 300zx for more than a year now, and I'm now about to finally get the stock NA motor tuned and built in my garage and hopefully swap the trans to manual. Body was perfect when I got it but a branch and one mishap in an accident put some dents that I wish weren't there. But the most trouble-some part about owning any of the 70's - 90's Zs were Electrical issues, which mine is absolutely plagued with. I hope to have mine posted on Fitment Industries within the ending of 2020. Thank you Fitment for finally making a video about these rare birds that are mistreated badly for being beaters.
First thing to do on a Z32 is a wire harness. After the OEM harness is replaced your electrical issues will vanish
I had a 1990 N/A and is still my favorite out of all the cars I’ve owned. This car was way ahead of its time!
I have a z31 and love the old gurl

The N/A was a beast the TT was a fucking monster in training and just shy of a few mods to become a fucking demon. I still have my 1989 twin turbo Japanese import 300zx in gun metal grey with original body kit and interior and I'm never getting rid of it, I love that thing, I bought it for $1500 off my mate and it's my pride and joy
I have a '90 Z32 TT. It's a masterpiece of Japanese engineering, and represents one of the pinnacles of it (the supra and vr4 the other 2). It's built like a tank, the ergonomics are amazing, it's fast, and handles very well.
I fell in love with this car ever since I saw it in kill bill
very underrated car. It didn't take off in the JDM craze like the Supra, Skyline, or FD. I believe it was because it didn't make it on the fast and furious series. It also got aftermarket support very late compared to other Japanese sports cars at the time due it's difficulty to work on. It weights about the same as the Mk4 Supra. Its bone stock VG30 motor is known to hold power very well too. The fastest stock motor 300zx ran a high 8. Sad to see it not getting the attention it deserves. Some of them are still cheap and desperately need to be tastefully modded. Get one before they become impossible to find. Also an LS and 2JZ fit so well in its engine bay.
Don't forget that it shares the front suspension from the R32 and the same rear as a S chassis. Legit. As far as the engine bay goes, the intake manifold takes about 15 minuets to remove and then you can get to anything quite easily. Jus saying Alex... Great vid 👌
1:58 "the nissan 300zx was a car that hit production in 1989." The 300zx actually went into production in 1984. The z31 300zx was from 84-88 and the z32 came out in 89. I have an 86 z31 300zx.

Me, cultured 1990 300zx owner with no money and bleeding from cuts because of the engine bay. Yes you want one. People don't know how to work on them and will definitely cheap out on repairs. My last one was totaled by a lawn truck hit and run. My current one the previous "mechanic" used silicone instead of just replacing the gaskets on the balance tube. They'll have a myriad of things to look after, BUT once it runs and is loved it'll be stout and never leave you stranded. It is a car I just can't get enough of. I love this thing and it's been a blast with the satisfaction of owning and fixing it. I stil park it and turn around thinking "Damn, I own that".
Own several 90's JDM supercars and the 300ZX TT is my all time favorite car between all of them. One of the best all around cars and with some clean-up on the engine bay plus some knowledge on them, they get pretty decent to work-on.
Ever try an MK3 Supra? I feel like it's the closest car to the 300ZX or at least the one that nissan was probably looking at. I wonder how the differently the ZX handles in comparison.
I've often considered the 300ZX, but I went with the MK3 instead from a reliability/ease of working on stand point.
10/10 the 300zx is my dream car

You guys should consider going more in-depth and doing “so you want a (insert engine here)?”. Doing the full car works for those interested in the total package but for the project fans out there it would be more beneficial information. For example; engine specs, applications, popular mods, pros, cons, and popular/interesting swaps. Just a suggestion to keep the content rolling.

i give the Z32 a solid 8/10, one of my favorite cars. I am biased to the Z31 300zx only because I love the 80s boxy style and pop up lights more. Not to mention I have three of those little guys. Not very fast but i love them.
The design of the 300ZX (Z32) is what caught my attention. Love mine ! 🙌

I own a 93 N/A. Previous owner made me buy it. He said, "Get it out of my driveway". Got it home, put coils, plugs, injectors and A/C belt on it and it is the cheapest, best looking, fun car I have ever driven. Great entry level high performance car for any age enthusiast.
Hit the nail on the head with this one guys!! Glad jimmy Oakes and cbazzz made it in the clips. Surprisingly they’re not terrible to work on. Things just take some time. Small learning curve.

The Z32 was way ahead of it's time. Few can deny the sheer beauty these things have, even in stock form. Throw a few tasteful mods at it and you're set
I had a z32 for my first car I loved it, felt real comfortable, handling was good and it just looked so good. Working on it kind sucked cause it was so tight in the engine bay.

Fell in love decades ago and have never turned back. I've built and or serviced well over 400+ 300zx's to date and can say each and every one was a pain in the ass to service, however! Each and every one of them was a blessing to drive once they were done =]
Z32's are amazing cars hands down...

one of my fav Nissans of all time, I liked her over the supra and rx7 as well. To be honest I like her over the subsequent generations of Z's too, I thought they took a step back with the 350Z and the 370 looks like a catfish with wheels.
I have had my 1991 triple black ttop 5-speed MANUAL, 2 seat ONLY, since July 4th 2000. Clean, bone stock except Borla exhaust and Apex-i intake and garaged kept. Not going to find this setup in any sorta combo anymore.

THE VIDEO IVE BEEN WAITING FOR
Such a hype vid nice job
I have one. It's a 2+2 NA. I love this car. Most fun car I've ever owned. Responds so well to upgrades, and handling. I can whip this car anyway I want it.
Also, the TT models. Exhaust Intake and a basic tune will get you 350-400WHP. Pretty quick for a mostly stock car
I love this car! So important - a JDM Icon that doesn't get the respect and recognition it deserves, and is so unappreciated, mostly due to people crying about the engine bay - such crybabies. The car forsed IMSA to change the rules because it was so dominant. It was forced to race in a different class, and still won! The car was sold in 1989, but the design was actually completed in 1986...yes, 1986! IMO, Nissan should've done one upgrade for the 1993 model year onward - they should've changed the injectors. Everyone talks about the MKIV Supra, and deservedly so (I love that car as well - another of my favorites), but in stock form, the only difference in producing HP and acceleration performance between the Z32 and the MKIV Supra was the injectors (MKIV came with 550 injectors and Z32 still used 370 injectors). If you tune both cars to 600-WHP, the mighty MKIV gets beaten...yes, I was surprised as well. But anyway, this car, the Z32, deserves so much more respect and recognition than it receives.
I think they used lower capacity injectors to keep the skyline GT-R above it
I had an '85 300zx and I absolutely loved it. It wasn't that fast compared to most other cars on the road today but it was and always will be a blast to drive. It also had a liiiittle bit more room to work on things lol

10/10 very good styling and love the interchangability and the r32 tech in them. Holding on to my tt to build her right
love the 300zx 10/10 car in my opinion. owned one for a year and a month ago i crashed it at 100ks around a corner.. car/body is totaled but myself and my passenger literally climbed out of the roof and walked away with just some bruises.. the motor and drive line are not affected by the crash and i have brought a straight body and am in the presses of building it up with the old motor. RIP ma ol Z
Da D i crashed my 300zx too at silly speed and same thing. Jumped out the top almost unscathed besides a few cuts and a fractured wrist while the car was bent like a banana. Nissan did an amazing job and the structural rigidity of them is the reason im still alive today!
@@hzyblufml1194 yeah man nissan killed it with the z32, i agree if it weren't the rigidity of the car i might not be alive now, also lucky the cars are so planted just if it had rolled yeah would have been feked.. did the seat belts come off in your crash?? mine and my passengers both came off.
Da D nah it didnt but mine was a side impact so it didnt put too much stress on the seatbelt
I been waiting for this video for months now and its finally here 😂
I will say my 300ZX is probably one of my favorite cars hands down. The HICAS system is phenomenal when you’re cruising on highways as you can feel the difference in handling when the rear tires turn even though it’s only 1-3 degrees. If I’m just cruising I average 30-36 mpg, and in Wyoming that’s really damn good! If I decide to step on it and let the turbos do their thing that’s a completely different story 🤔
Already own one best car I've ever had
It does eat up alot of gas I get maybe 12 mpg but it is my everyday driver during the summer so during the winter it's a garage princess I'm from Michigan and it does not do well in the snow and ice. I had to buy a old Chevy pickup for the winter and that gets better gas mileage than the 300 surprisingly.
Thank you for this. Actually listens to viewers! My 93 TT has been reliable mainly because I am OCD about it. Prices have gone up alot just last couple of yrs

Love the Z32, I had a 1992 Twin Turbo. Definitely a sheep in wolves' clothing, bone stock you're lucky to run high 13s. The Toyota Supra Twin Turbo and '94-'99 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 were faster stock both in numbers and in feel. However, imo the Z ran circles around both and was about as fast as the Mazda FD3 RX-7 but didn't feel like you were going to die in the twisties.
Once modded, the Z32 becomes a whole different car. It also mods better than the Mitsubishi and looks timeless.
Just got love the design & look of it, just a master piece 🙌
I’ve owned an ‘87 300zx Turbo since purchasing it new in January’ 88. Still runs strong , looks great and no rust ! 5 speed manual . I think I’ll take it for a spin tomorrow.
Guess who owns a production number 7 of a 1990 300zx 😫
9/10. I personally own one and the only reason I don't give it a 10/10 is because of the engine bay being so cramped. Other than that it's an amazing car.
Finally, thank you so much
Awesome video great work 👍
10 have always loved these cars. Have been saving up to get a quality one.
It’s worth it to get on in good condition. There’s a grey area when it comes to less expensive high mileage ones that you won’t need to worry about. Make sure to keep up with seals and general maintenance. Turbos should be rebuilt at around 90k
@@HunterZ32 so what is the optimal mileage and how many miles are too many???
I'm not super worried about the mileage. Making sure the 120k stuff is done and compression is good is mostly what I care about. I'm guessing between 5 to 8k if I buy domestic. I've been looking at importing a 2+2 tt also which would probably be around 13k. Havent decided if I want to have my kids in the car or just me and the wife lol

I recently picked one up and this vid couldn’t be more true as it being my first true build it has taught me to love the hood and accept the bad because every car isn’t perfect I have big ideas for it and don’t plan on letting it go for 1500 my 5spd Na was totally worth it in the future I’m gonna be going the hard single turbo route wish me luck and thanks for paying homage to a wonderful car
I've been hoping for this vid since I got a 300zx, and there's tons to unpackage here that's not covered in the vid. If you're looking for a drift car, it's best to remove the HICAS system that comes standard on the TT and replace it with the NA zx rear suspension. The Turbos on the TT are also prone to going out, and are generally near the age where they have or are going to soon. On a well kept model, they can last a shile longer but it's a generally good practice to have them checked out and replaced if need be. If you intend to swap it with a 2JZ, Kalvin Malli is a good success story, and even had his car shown off at SEMA this year. If you would like to LS swap, The Smoking Tire has a video on that, and the things that are kinda quirky with an LS 300zx. The engine bay is also notoriously compact, especially in the TT models, which can be a bit of a pain to work on. Having had to replace the belt myself, it's definitely not easy to get to some of the smaller spaces, though it's easier to work on the NA. That being said, these cars are getting more and more rare, and in my opinion are the best looking of the Post-Datsun Z series. That Racing Channel also has a few videos on the 300zx like Devil-Z that are great to watch if you're more interested in drag racing.
And here I am watching Alex talk about the z32's while im sitting in my z32 waiting for my friend to show up so we can wrap it fully in wrapping paper for cars and coffee
Yay! So glad you covered my dream car.
Miss my 300z. It was a 1995. I had it for 8 months, and this was only about 8 months ago. I did alot of work to it, and put some new wheels on it. 2 days after the new wheels were on it, I hydroplaned, hit an embankment, and landed on top totalling the car. 100 grand of hospital Bills and a wrecked Z later, I was left with, well, not a Z. I miss here every day, maybe one day another one will come in my life. When I get out of this debt and can afford it, the day will come. I'm only 19 so you can imagine, its difficult. Rest in peace girl
Yesssirrrr!! 2nd time on the channel!!
Oh yeah I love this car and that intro was aesthetic af!! Also when is the 7th gen Celica coming to the series !
Calm Kid and 3rd gen Celica
This will be a good one, dont see very many Z32s that often. I'm not a huge fan of the Z32 but it's nice to see it getting some recognition. The Z32 and GTO never really get noticed being over shadowed by the other cars.
Yessssssssss I love you guys
Yes let’s go I asked for this one
So... you want a DMC-12... Am I gonna need to go back to the future to see this?
