- Ballistics gel testing the 170 grain 30 caliber Norma Tipstrike in 10% natural ballistics gelatin at different velocities simulating different ranges shot out of a 308 Winchester, 30-06 Springfield, and a 300 PRC.
These bullets were sent to me from submoashooting.com they sell sample packs. Go check them out.
Performed an awful lot like match bullets, similar to the Hornady ELD-M's I have tested.
I have used Hornadys A-MAX and ELD-M bullets in my 308 for whitetail deer and antelope and have had good results. These Norma Tipstrike bullets should do well in the same application.
Low velocity round recovered was 123.5 grains, 30-06 round was 100.1 grains, and the 300 PRC was 83.6 grains. Спорт
Awesome, I found it on sale and bought 10 boxes of 308!
Great job! Thank you Sir
Your welcome
It works well in 308, like an sst. I switched to tipstrike from sst just becouse its easier to source here in Sweden.
Which one is the better? The tipstrike or the sst?
@@TheSzteroid I prefer the tipstrike, but i think they perform about the same.
I think this is the first bullet you tested that had core separation on the low velocity shots. That has me worried on anything but a lung shot. Makes me think it would be OK for longer range shots or closer with slower velocity calibers.
Noslers ballistics tip hunting bullets have given me similar core separation in a couple different tests.

@@simplemindedfella Thanks
170 is an odd weight for 30 cal. I'm used to 170gr 308 caliber projectiles having flat or rounded points, for rounds like the 30-30, 308 marlin express, and 307 winchester.
It is. Why 168 is and not 170 I couldn't tell you.
Great vid! How is the recoil on the 300 prc? Compared to a 300 win mag?
Recoil is about the same.
You mind sharing your load data for this bullet in .308? Thx
Hí. Great video!! What do you think, this bullet are work vell, in 300 win mag???
With all the options out there, it wouldn't be my first choice. With that said, they would perform okay in a 300 win mag. I prefer bonded, partitioned, or monolithic bullets.
Good job sir! Maybe someday you can test the berger hybrid 230 gr?
If you send him a few I bet he would be happy to.
I feel like when the velocity drops below 2700 fps, this bullet is gonna be really effective.
Agreed
Crazy how a few hundred fps can make the difference between a large cavity and literally destroying the block. Running these at 3300fps would definitely destroy way too much meat. Looks to be an excellent long range performer though.
Agreed

You think the 308 Norma Evo strike lead free ammo would be good for deer hunting?
Yes. Don't know a lot about it but it really looks like it would have similar performance to the lead free ammunition by Hornady. If your gun shoots it well I would not hesitate using it for hunting.
Norma Vulcan is an interesting bullet! But nothing beats Partition, in my mind. Per
Norma Oryx is right up there with Partition.
What was the weight retention with the 30-06 ?
100.1 grains.
I try to leave the retained grain weights of the bullets in the description of the videos.
How was accuracy with this bullet?
I ordered a 12 pack, so I only tested their terminal ballistics.
That's a lot of damage!
