  • What makes the Norma Tipstrike the perfect choice for this seasons drivenhunt? In this Video Team member Steffen Foullon explains the construction of the norma tip strike and proofs its effectiveness in spectacular drivenhunt footage taken in Spain at the beginning of the year. The rifle of choice was chambered in 30.06. The 30.06 is an intermediate cartridge but with the right bullet choice the light recoil makes it pleasant to shoot and gives the hunter the ability for a faster follow up shot if needed. The Norma Tipstrike has a thin front jacked that causes a rapid expansion which leads to a fast energy transfer. The internal lead lock keeps the residual weight high for deep penetration. That looks a great choice of round but interesting that you are going for lead over non-lead. Is there an Eco-Tip variant which is almost as effective or are we still some way from having a truly equivalent non-lead alternative?

Yes indeed the Ecostrike is our lead free Allrounder. Team member Steffen who is seen in this video, used the Ecostrike successful on drivenhunts across Europe. If you scroll though our channel you will find some videos with the Ecostrike on drivenhunts

@@normaprecison Great, thanks for the response but is it as good as the round Steffen used in the film or is it less efficient?
This is what we all want to know.
For example, can we say: "I have a Norma Ecostrike in 150gr which is equal in expansion and knock down power to the Tip Strike leaded equivalent?

@@colinjohnston5465Hi Collin, this is Steffen. It’s a different bullet. The Ecostrike is my favorite bullet. A monolithic copper bullet is harder that lead. That means that the Ecostrike reaches its limit earlier regarding the distance. Copper bullets need speed to function. At long range shots a lead bullet will always outperform a lead free bullet. If your regular hunting distance lays between 40-250 meters than I can highly recommend the Ecostrike to you. If you hunt beyond that go for the Bondstrike. The Tipstrike is a fragmentation round. This increases the chance of meatloss due to the fragments especially on smaller game like roedeer. But what it also does it increases your chance of a lethal hit even if your shot placement was not 100%. Thats why the tipstrike is such a great drivenhunt bullet. Moving game is harder to hit and bad shots are common. Having a bullet that increases lethality due to fragments could give you an extra edge. It’s not a simple question to answer but I hope this helps 👍🏻
