I ran across this when RUclips was still a bud of what it is today. still to this day have continued to purchase his releases new and old on every new platform I can. I took an entirely unnecessary but completely worthwhile 4 class addition in college just to be able to play along somewhat efficiently. I got two degrees from the military. but playing this song along with him is what makes me smile when I look back on what I learned. so damn great. sorry for the rant. just glad other people still come back to this
Wow I've just found this video on a playlist I made many years ago (called "Favourites"), when I was a teenager There's a sense of nostalgia, many memories come to mind... Especially from a friend I lost in 2015 and who also loved medieval stuff I remember I told him I'd like to have this musician as my grandfather haha R.I.P. Alex, thank you for everything. And thank you, Frédéric, for this song Greetings from Brazil (:
One of the first fingerpicking songs i ever learnt on guitar. I still have the sheet music on my pc that i purchased from your website. I will never stop listening! :)

Monsieur Mesnier, Je regarde ses vidéos depuis 8 ans, exactement ce fut le premier vidéo que j'ai regardé. Je suis un espagnol qui est amoureux de ton musique.
Just discovered you and your sublime music, after finding Julian Neels amazing singing. Great you both can share your musical genius in this way! I will listen to all I can, thank you for this composition for now. It has made my life a bit better at this moment.
You are amazing! sorry for posting 10 years to late lol! You should record this again as a 10 year anniversary. Love this song, thanks for sharing. Hopefully someday i can play like you... Thanks for the inspiration. 👍
when i see you close your eyes. i see you picturing the journey you have taken. i dont know if i will ever stand to that level at my age or later. but you are a deep feel musician. the ones that make you write a story with just a song
This is the first video from you that I watched, back in 2009. When I think of that time of my life, this song and "Melody in D" are the soundtracks of my memories. Thank you for that, and for all the wonderful music you give us. Love from Brazil.
I am a beginner at playing guitar, but i am breaking my fingers off just play it and i am starting to roll on with it! I want to play it so badly because the feeling that this song transmits to me is so beautiful. Great piece of art!
Frederick hasn't uploaded a new video in 6 months, and he used to be prolific. Does anyone know if he is alright? It's very worrying what with the atrocities in Paris last year.
I'm quite worried too, I really hope nothing happened to this amazing man! If frédérick sees this please post or reply to this comment. We are all worried about you😭
I've been learning this song for about 4 years.. and I only have dominated like the first minute, but honestly I have never had the dedication to learn it 100% and to practice it.. but I want to have it full dominated by the ends of this summer, you only need practice, practice and more practice =) It's the most difficult and yet most beautiful acoustic song I know so far..
So many years since I heard It for the fist time. And now I heard that this video have 14 years and, like me, a lot of people came here! May searching for "medieval song" like me. Nowaday we have a lot of videos, videos with old songs, but I believe that Frédéric was one of the firsts to upload this song here, wich I think It is autoral. Congratualtions, Fréd - let me talk like this with you hahah! - cheers, kind regards and thank you very much. Gustavo Araújo Mota - Brazil
I feel so satisfied right now. Started listening to his music when he barely got the 30k Hits, and after a year i somehow hit him up again and there it is, millions of views. Finally, the recognition he deserves. Bravo, lovely, awesome!
I understand people can have dissenting opinions, but who feels so strongly opposed to videos like this that they actually hit the dislike button? I mean, if you don't care for the music, you can still appreciate that the man is talented. What is it you dislike exactly?
This was the first classical guitar-playing video that I saw years ago as a young boy and loved everything about fingerstyle guitars. It was just back then classical guitars were not available in my city. After so many years I just want to say thank you! Because I didn't give up on my passion for music.
god bless you, i got into guitar 1 because of you , you make the most beautiful music i can hear, straight form the roots of your heart. 2 weeks into my class, and i mastered deep waters and this one, and the rest id ont care about, because this type of music, is what i want to learn and love
You are the reason I started playing the guitar one year ago. The emotion and feeling you put in your play is fenominal. I can read the passion off your face. Tres bien!
I just spent 3 hours trying to re-find this video. I found this years and years ago and it still makes me tear up like the first time I watched it. You really are a fantastic musical artist and the amount of passion you clearly have makes my heart swell. I hope you continue to play on for many many many years!
you are one of the finest musicians of this era .... i listen to all of your instrumentals , but this one is extra amazing , specially your technique of keeping the bass so dramatic and tense ... amazing
this one needs a newer record at 4k, almost 13 years and I still listen to this masterpiece. The only downside of this song is that it ends.

that's why God made the repeat button.

Can someone please give me tips for medieval sounding chord progressions and scales? I'm having a hard time to figure it out.
D minor scale with 7th major before resilving in the tonic chord is a step to feel the sound
Probably watched this for the first time 10-12 years ago. Here I am again. Cheers mate. 🍻
