- The historical figure Imhotep designed the remarkable Step Pyramid complex at Saqqara built during the reign of King Djoser (circa 2687-2668 BCE). After his death, Imhotep was regarded as a great sage and was later deified one of the few human beings to join the Egyptian pantheon. As a god, Imhotep was regarded as a patron of healers. This talk by Dr. Jennifer Wegner, Associate Curator, Egyptian Section, examines his rise from royal architect to divine being, concluding with an exploration of his appearance in pop culture today.

Regarding Imhotep in popculture, I would also add that a character Immutep from "Papyrus" animated series - a young, aspiring architect - often talks about Imhotep and treats him as his role model.

There is nothing in the archeological record in Imhotep's time for his being an architect. In the inscription on Djoser's statue, he is referred to as overseer of sculptors. He was indeed a priest (great of seers) and a royal councillor. However, there is nothing from Imhotep's time to support his being credited as an author or physician. These were ascribed to him thousands of years later.

When the Step Pyramid, the constructions at Gobekli Tepe were already as old as the Step Pyramid is today. Imhotep's worship probably derives in part from the fact that one of the few (and possibly only) pyramid/s of Dynastic construction that was/were standing the test of time in the New Kingdom was his and Djoser's at Saqarra. I suspect that work on the Giza pyramids, the Red Pyramid and the Bent Pyramid was carried out in Old Kingdom times, but fully engineering and building them? L.O.L.!!!

Being an Egyptian Sudanese of Coptic Christian origin, I believe that you are trying to say that Imhotep was also viewed as a Saint where ancient Egyptians used him for intercession with the other Gods of Egypt. That’s why they depicted him with Osiris, Isis, Anubis etc. they prayed for his intercession. This is amazing how the ancient Egyptians influenced and Pharaonised the Christian church and the present day culture of the Egyptian people. This is super insightful.

I found a really good book _Battle of The First Born._ It lines up the story of Moses with Egyptian history. They give Moses’ step mother’s name, Moses’ Egyptian name, the Pharaohs, the first born of Pharaoh that died, where they actually crossed, pics of golden chariot wheels at the bottom of the sea, and then it continues… real Mt that was on fire, Moses’ alter, alter of the golden calf. If you keep researching (or I can give you links) two rocks that gushed water, Israeli camps (shaped like sandals). The guy that found Noah’s ark found all this, and he found Noah’s house, grain storage from Joseph in Egypt, and Tower of Babel that was being built.

I find it disheartening that the Egyptians in her presentation are portrayed with fair skin as if they’re white. Egyptians are African and even the ancient Greeks described them as having dark or brown skin.
They were not snow white and they were not black, they had brownish skin. Interestingly, some of their statues had blue eyes.

She had the chance to really drive home an important and profound fact that Imhotep was a nubian in the old Kingdom of Egypt which was nearly exclusively a nubian era. She showed a very distant image of his mother when there are numerous close shot images of his other that show a traditional nubian woman. Please: the concepts of "race" in simple terms such as "black" and "white" and "yellow" or "Asian", are scientifically non-starters: they are social constructs invented by Europeans to justify subjugation and conquering of most of the world at one time or the other, due to their advances in weaponry. It was very easy to see the world as being clearly divided into a few extremely broad groups defined by skin color and continent of ancestry...Europeans were "white" (because of the fact that they developed in a northern climate so they needed less melanin to block out the harmful rays of the sun, and they needed paler skins to permit them to make more vitamin D.), so they were seen as superior to all others who weren't as pale.... everyone who wasn't pale, could then be viewed and treated as sub-human: useful for slaves, manual labor, etc.... or simply as "barbarians" or "heathens" in a religious sense. The concept of "blackness" is the worst sin of the lot: the African continent, because it is the birthplace of all humanity, has INSANE amounts of genetic variability, compared to the rest of the world - the pygmies of the central forest, for example, are more different from the !San of the Namibian desert, than an Aglo-Saxon from England is, from an Australian First Nations native. Genetically speaking, you could easily describe a dozen genetic groups distinct enough from all other human groups, to constitute "races", if one wished to use that term in a scientific sense. In other words, "black" means virtually nothing in a scientific sense: it just lumps a huge variety of diverse groups of humans into one giant category with no true validity in reality. The Egyptians were a good study in genetic diversity: Southern or "Upper" Egypt was undeniably very dark skinned, belonging to a certain East Central African ethic group whose name i am too lazy to look up, lol. Northern Egyptians were genetically quite different, and very likely considerably lighter in skin color: a mixture of several desert and Middle Eastern groups. Some rulers of the United Kingdom, such as the famous 25th Dynasty, were from Upper Egypt, and if you were to use the out-dated European classification of peoples, were QUITE "black", but most were more Middle Eastern and NE African in ancestry. This is all QUITE non-controversial when viewed from a strictly genetic and scientific perspective - it only acquires cultural baggage when one tries to apply the bogus European terms of "black" and "white" when categorizing humans. SO, my challenge to you and all those who wish to see the world in terms of "black and white", is: are you going to let your identity be defined culturally by Europeans and their descendants, or are you willing to let go of these out-dated cultural constructs and turn instead to objective means of defining knowledge such as science?

It also shows tracking of the earths Processional cycle which is a 26,000 year cycle. Its estimated the lowest level of Nabta Playa to be dated 11000 - 15000 years. This would mean the procession had to of been studied for 10s or 100s of thousands of years in order to create a complex map and archaoastronomical calander.
To go back Prior to 80000 years ago we are talking about Homo Sapien Idaltu or other sub species of human that have not been found yet. Science is learning more about subspieces and defying previous notions of them being half human acting with grunts and dragging knuckles. See Denovisans Bracelet that shows a drill was used to make a hole through it. This is proof that sub Species were more advanced in thinking and science than previously understood.
Back up in time to the great exodus out of Africa into Europe When Homo Sapien Sapien met and lived at least 5000 years over lapped with Neanderthal. This overlapping of species lead to cross breeding. The genetic compatibility of Neanderthal and Homo Sapien Sapien created a hybrid human which lived in Europe and Asia. Due to the mixing the new hybrid would seek to have human offspring until eventually Neanderthal was extinct and all that was left were Hybrids and homo sapien sapien still in Africa.
Fast forward to Homo Sapien Sapien by the time HSS came to be they were already being handed down knowledge of the stars by their Idaltu ancestors. HSS was the only Human worthy of Divine Possession or as Ancient Aliens suggests Extraterrestrial intervention. This Divine possession or ascended conscious was hundreds of thousand of years in the making and lead to high sciences of Nabta Playa, Gobelki Tepe and Sumeria. IMHOTEP was the first historically documented person to conceive of the architecture of the first Pyramid. IMHOTEP was a Nubian obviously and you can see his mother for confirmation.
Today all people living outside of Africa have 1 _ 5% Neanderthal dna. That may not sound like A lot but when you compare a chimpanzee to humans we share 99% genes with but you can see the 1% has a vast difference in the organism. Due to the hybridization it lead Europeans and Asian to excel in the applied science passed down by their Neanderthal and Hybrid ancestors but lacked the ascended spirit conscious of the Homo Sappien Sapien. tained the roman applied sciences and brought Europe out of the dark ages and ushered in the modern era.
Today we are dominated by the Left brain applied scientific mind of the Neanderthal HSS hybrid. when researchers find places like Egypt and Nabta Playa they are considered scientific anomalies bc they don't fit into academia's chronology of humanity and civilisations origins.
Egypt was the pinnacle of homo Sapien Sapiens divine sciences. Long before Egypt fell the divine sciences were lost. The Greeks were able to take the applied science of Egypt and build Greece but lacking the spirit science fell in 1500 years. The Romans were able to use the applied sciences but lacking the spirit science fell in 1000 years plunging Europe into the dark ages. Moores from the west and Charlemagne from the east both maintained the roman applied sciences and brought Europe out of the dark ages and ushered in the modern era.
