Some might think it cornball but I will take it over the junk you see today any time. They were the best cover band in musical history, doing songs better than the originals. That to me, says it all. Grease for Peace is a slogan that is all theirs.
If anyone knows where I can find full episodes of "The Shanana Show", I've been looking for 35 years! This was my favorite show when I was a kid, and would give anything to see them again. Grease for Peace!
They were one of the most popular live acts of the 70s.After Woodstock they toured europe,japan and of course the states .Janis Joplin,Hendrix,Lennon Harrison and Alice Coooper all attended Sha Na Na concerts.They broke the Stones attendence record at every venue they played in during their uk tour of 1971. Saw them perform 5 times between 1971 and 1976.Keith Moon was thier emcee on a couple of occasions.Truly one of the great live acts.They definatley didnt fall out of sight.
It's just amazing how much individual talent they had and they combined it really well. They were the best! I watched them when I was a kid in the 70's. They were on once a week so you watched the show! You couldn't tape it and watch it later. Well, you could if you had one of those brand new Beta Max machines! Sha Na Na still rocks! Th.. th.. that's all folks!

This guy is great, I guess he never got the attention, due to the lack of hair, what a shame. Bowser is one of the best base guys but I think he thought he was the group. Its a shame, they all were talented ! We need a Sha na na today bad !

OMG! I remember watching Sha Na Na on tv when I was a kid. My little brother used to do a Bowser impersonation and looked just like him! We'd laugh and laugh... I wish someone would put the rest of the shows on here, not just the songs, like the skits and stuff.
That popcorn fight at the end was REALLY funny, and I couldn't believe Lennie kept some popcorn inside his saxophone! The popcorn would blow right out of it!
There is no such thing as a "British" accent! There are English accents, Welsh accents, and Scottish accents, and each of these have various dialects. The American cariacature of the so called "British" accent is just that!
Calm down, celtusguy. I've heard many American accents butchered by British actors and comedians over the years. And don't get me started when you Brits try to do a New York or a Southern accent. It's usually insulting.

I did some research and found out that they still perform today. The group consists of Donny, Jocko, Screamin' Scott, and some new members.
Yes! The new members are "Downtown" Michael Brown, Tim Butler, Ty Cox, and Randy Hill. All I had to do was go to their website to learn about it.

Scott Powell (Santini) went on to become a well known doctor. He also has his own band.
Hair isn't everything, and NONE of them got the recognition they deserved because they were a cover band!
