Best practice would be to use a permanent marker to mark liner to block so that after you have measured protrusion and you put the seal on you get the liner in the same spot you measured it at. Used to enjoy building JD engines, really satisfying when you get them running again.
You are probably right yes, I think the machining of the new parts has come on a long way from when it was first built, as they were all very close to one another in the measurements 🤔 I can imagine it is! I'm enjoying the build anyway as it is something that I like doing 😊
