  • i change the thermostate on a 2005 honda civic this is basically the same for all d17 engines , pretty simple procedure,
make sure car not warm and is cold or has cooled down
    take off radiator cap
drain coolant if you want to just remove the lower house off the thermostat housing
2 10 mm bolts that need to be removed
    remove old gasket and thermostat
install new gasket and thermostat ( long side with spring goes inside engine short rounded side goes in housing
make sure it sits flush and you dont have to force anything
bolt everything back up and bleed the system
i went to advanced auto and got
    thermostat 8
    gasket 4
    antifreeze 7
    total 19 bucks usd
    thermostat oe spec

Quick Tip: instead of pouring straight forward the way you did, turn the bottle on it's side. It is much easier to control and you won't spill near as much. Hope this helps.

You way overfilled the coolant reservoir, which will cause top to pop off when pressure is found in the system. The fill up line to max is in the lower bottom kinda hard to see.

@@MosWrld100 there’s a minimum and fill line on the reservoir. How’s the extra coolant escape? It’s supposed to be an air tight system. Not sure where the excess would go at least that much of it

I thought the thermostat would be on hose that goes to the top of the radiator? Thx for pointing that out.

You needed to flush that radiator, like extremely clean it, flush it 2 or 3 times & then purge (burp) the system of air or else you'll get air into your engine.

Hello What is the symptoms of a bad thermostat?

    • @MosWrld100
      @MosWrld100  3 года назад +4

Overheating if the thermostat is failed closed and if it failed open it would take forever to get to operating temp and during the winter your heat won’t work as well because the car can’t get to temp
