I did my plugs yesterday on an ‘08 Taurus X. This video was perfect. No surprises. I had my tablet right by the car and paused the video before doing each step. The worst part about the job are the 2 clamps on the hoses on the back. I could not get the one on the right off but was able to get it done anyway. Thanks, couldn’t have done it without this vide!
Excellent video. I've done this once before about 120k miles ago, your technique will save me some time as I jump into it again. My 08 just turned 226K and runs great and body is in surprising good shape for being in MI the pat 10 years.. Thank you for making this repair video. Best Regards, mjm!
Boy knows what he's doing thanks for all the insight because without your insights people will screw up any helped me out for tomorrow when I have to do just what you did thank you
Great video on how to do this. Thank you for posting! When I pulled the ignition coils, the rubber spark plug boots all got stuck on the spark plugs down in the hole. I had to purchase some long thin needle nose pliers and hook picks to be able to reach down inside to remove the pieces of the boots. For the rear plugs, I had to remove the cross stabilizer bar to allow more room for access (4 bolts) and use a mirror to see inside the cylinders. Just an FYI that the rubber boots may pull off the coils and stay on the plugs and you will spend more time digging them out than the rest of the job. Plan on purchasing a set of insulating boots just in case this happens to you. They are ~$30 for the set of 6. Cheers, Tom.
i dont mean to be so off topic but does any of you know a tool to get back into an instagram account..? I stupidly lost the login password. I would appreciate any tips you can give me.
@Reuben Talon i really appreciate your reply. I found the site through google and I'm in the hacking process now. Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Great video...had to do this on a 2008 Mercury Sable. This stuff always looks intimidating, you can also label you screws and bolts with masking tape. Take photos with your smart phone etc before removing hoses. I’m using more and more silicone spray since so many cars now have plastic, rubber...I did go with the Motorcraft spark plugs, the originals were made in the USA...now they are made in Mexico. The problem with mine was a coil, it was obvious. Hard to pull out. It was cracked and expanded in the slot. Looked like moisture entered some how. I did put a thin coat of silicone grease around the housing of each coil before reinstalling. Once again, great video.
Best auto repair I have ever seen, thorough and easy to follow On a side note when putting back together I put hose clamps on brake hose and PC valve toward front, now much easier to reach and compress.
Hey, thanks a bunch for the video! Certainly helped me out with some upcoming work... Gotta do the 100k "tuneup" on the wife's 2015 Taurus (which looks pretty-much identical to this one), and was sort of dreading the intake removal... but it doesn't look like that big of a deal. I like the fact that you use a little anti-seize on the plug threads. I've been doing that myself for decades on all my engines. Really helps the plug come out "next time". Also, the rags in the intake ports is ALWAYS a good idea. Excellent job and advise. Thanks again!
Thanks man. Gotta do my 1, 2 and 3 and remove the valve covers to replace all the gaskets. I'll use this as a guide. I have a 2005 Ford 500 Limited with the 3.0L Duratec DOHC V-6. Thanks brother.
You saved my tail, and saved me some money! Thank you for such an informative and great video. Did mine at 247k miles, and judging by the way the motorcrafts I pulled out, I’m wondering if they might’ve been stock! Thanks again!
I've gotta do mine and believe i have a misfire too, no check engine light on though. I am curious why the only coil pack they wanted replaced was the 3rd cylinder? Was that what the code showed? And would there be a code without the check engine light on?
Thanks for your video it helped me I have a 08 Taurus with 191,k on it and a broken plug, which is not a problem I been up against the wall on this before, but my real question is, does it really matter if I go with factory plugs and coils are can I put a different set in with iridium plugs with Vplus coils what do you recommend???
I have an 08 Mercury sable, which is basically the same vehicle, at around 96k miles and oe plugs. Should they be changed? Not having any problems with it but wondering if it’s recommended. Thanks.
Did you clean-up or replace the gaskets for the intake manifold before putting it back on? deciding if its worth the hassle of getting new gaskets if the original fare well.
When I did this x2, I bought new Ford gaskets. They aren't expensive. If they are in good shape, they can be reused in a pinch, but for all the work, why not just replace those gaskets? That way no chance of leak. ;)
1 informative piece of information about di-electric grease: it is an (insulator) therefore never put it on a contact point before connecting with a source of power it will effect the connection and possibly give u future issues that will be tough to find if u dnt know this. When using di electric grease always connect your contacts first then apply your di-electric grease over and or around the connection to protect and insulate. If u want a product that is for applying directly to each contact before connecting use electrical contact grease u wnt find it at a local parts place go to a hardware store or minards in the electricians department. I didnt learn this from a mechanic i learned it from a master electrician
hey great video i have a 2009 ford taurus was thinking of giving it a tune up car has only 55,000 miles about 6 months ago i pull out the first 2 front right spark plugs and notice they look like the ones in your video.my car still runs okay just i notice some vibration while is on idle.i don't know if needs tune up i didnt have that vibration 3 years ago when i purchase this car engine was really quiet i was going to ask you is a good thing to change the pcv valve while the intake manifold is off? because i didnt see you change the one in this car you were working on.thanks in advance
@@dvera9726 how many miles you got on yours? I would like to tune up mine myself too.but the only thing is those to brake hoses by the firewall and the other one he had to use a special tool to detach while I’m there I will change the pcv valve because it goes with the tune up,the only thing is those hoses in the back of the engine if they give me a hard time I’m may loose my patience.
@@garylove2836 mine has 175k I had my mechanic do my spark plugs every year, but this time I wanna try myself. Those hoses don’t look bad, I went out to my car and checked everything and those can easily be removed with some needle nose pliers.
So I did everything as you did. When I got it back together, now the car won’t accelerate. And I have no clue as to what it could be. I’ve double checked everything and still no idea why this is happening
Thank you for this video!! I’m a young girl and I have a 2008 ford tarsus the shop charged me 2600$ just to change my spark plugs and coils this was a year ago and now my coil 5 is misfiring and I’m debating on doing it myself I can’t pay that again
On modern cars torque very important on all fasteners.alot of plastic parts can't just man handle them like the.old days plugs can come loose and pull the threads out of the head.now ya got a big problem. Remember things expand when hot. So that's why we have torque measurements. Do it right.
I got everything off to get the back plugs replaced and boom, wife calls me to pick her up from the hospital. So I had to put everything back together 😡 at least I know I can detach everything

Great video but no time to replace the back one lol i only replaced the 3 on the front 😂😂 when i get a chance i’ll be back to change it

Why did they have to design these like that…. I hate the fact you have to take the intake off just to access the rear plugs. 😑
Because engineers have to stick parts into the holes they have and that means mechanic be damned
I didn't need this information, but your video was so good 😊 I had to watch. Stay blessed 🙏

Torque specs for upper intake, do you happen to know them? Thank you.

Fantastic information.
Was there a gasket mine didn’t have one on the intake am I missing it?

I was told bad spark plugs can make a car jump and shake and struggle going up a hill.
Is this true?

Is it nessasary to disconnect battery ?

You didn't torque the plugs
It's not a natural aspirated engine that's with the carburetors fuel injected
No turbo or supercharger equals naturally aspirated. Method of fuel delivery has no impact on aspiration, just the method of air delivery.
