There also plans to develop the Indonesian Airbus A320, the N2130 back then, but economical crisis prevent it from happening. Ironically, it was the main victim of the crisis. The IMF helped Indonesia to recover from the crisis but they have to sacrifice the IPTN including the N250 and the N2130

Domestic use is expected to expand connectivity and growth in Indonesia.. It does not need to compete with other aircraft. However, international orders will be very well supported.
Towards the end, the video did not match the audio. I couldn’t tell which aircraft was in the pictures, and the pictures were showing different stats than being described in the audio.
Other countries should also start designing and building small and medium size aircraft.. The improvement comes with passing time, provided you should keep your mind, observation and R&D open. There are still so cope of improvment in most modern aircraft by leading companies.

But it will beat it in operating costs every time.

The Sky Courier is not a competitor to the Twin Otter. However.. current Twin Otter operators who don’t need STOL performance but have no other choice in the category will probably start buying Sky Couriers instead of Twin Otters. Sky Courier just got certified and also cruises at 210kts. Empty weight of the 408 is about 3000lbs heavier. The extra horsepower of the 408 allows it to haul 1000lbs more cargo. Max t/o weight is 4500lbs higher than the N219. The N219 probably has better fuel economy than the 408. Did Cessna copy the N219? Nope. It was designed specifically for FedEx around the specification to haul three LD3 containers. Basically it’s a box with wings and a huge cargo door. The N219 is closer in size and load performance to the Twin Otter, but a lot faster.

Update. I’ve had the 408 up to 220ktas at 11000ft. Very good handling and easy to operate for one pilot. They hit it out of the park with this one. 5000lbs of cargo over a 200nm distance. The specs say 6000lbs but you won’t go far with that much freight on board. Perfect for FedEx because the 408 bulks out around 4000lbs with typical overnight freight. With 4000lbs of cargo, the 408 can go 400nm, with IFR fuel reserves. Most of FedEx Feeder routes are between 75nm and 200nm. The 3 containers can be loaded and offloaded in about 10 minutes. Perfect feeder ops aircraft.
The speed of technology development will make these planes look outdated. In the future, short-haul aircraft will use electric engines with less passenger capacity and higher speeds to support high mobility.
As an aircraft maintenance supervisor for 20 years already, I prefer the aircraft made by Cessna/Textron Aviation. No one can argue on it's superb craftmanship and reliabilty because it is the product of one of the world's most trusted name in aircraft manufacturing.
One aircraft is a local gimmick, to fly in the most unregulated aviation market on Earth, and will likely never be seen outside of 1 country. The other aircraft is already a production success (even though the first hull was delivered in May 2022). You're comparing a lazy mule, to a modern pick-up truck.
