Rodri PR team works in full swing but Carrick was Rodri way before Rodri. Sir Alex signed him and then it’s no coincidence that United went onto win 3 league titles in a row and reached back to back UCL finals🔥
@@fransnico9108 I agree but my issue is how he compares to Busquets as being the focal point of everything the team did. The role is the same the effectiveness is extremely different
@@benjo78ableThey are both of equal level, the only difference is that one played in Spain and the other in Prem, and the English media and fans don't rate players like Carrick/Busquet at all at the time. Also, Busquet played in one of the most dominant teams in Europe.
Criminally underrated! Even everyone must have forgotten his goal dribbling from the half field when the defenders caught napping and expected a pass to the forwarders!
Carrick had vision and was an excellent passer of the ball but he also had intelligent forwards who made runs down the channels for them to receive the ball to score.
Carrick reminds me of Edmilson, defensive midfielder with height and ball playing skills. Like a Busquets and Pirlo combined into one package. Shame England didn’t utilise him well enough
Watched him come through from the U18's where I watched him play a more advanced role in midfield as Joe Cole was floating flank to flank. Carrick was dynamic, bursting forwards. He didn't lack pace or desire to get in amongst the shots - and he showed he had a rifle of a shot not unlike De Bruyne when given chance. When he got into the first team however he was basically asked to be the responsible player alongside Cole and it started to hurt his game. He developed in other ways, but gradually became more and more a support player for the team. His injuries to the groin seemed to ruin his pace and by the time we sold him to Tottenham he was the shell of the player he could be having had the life kicked out of him at West Ham for the last few years, then the morale sucked out with the relegation. Tottenham helped restore him. Utd then bought the finished article.
When you realise, this wasn't his main strength. His defensive ability is so criminally overlooked, haven't seen another player slot in at CB as well as he did at times in 2015-16 season.
The saddest part is that, imagine Carrick is an active player in this 2020s generation, Rodri would have been a puppet. But now, it'll be hard to convince this generation that Carrick is better than Rodri, and they are late to see Carrick's play in this world😂
Carrick is the holding midfielder version of Kaka.....Kaka was more attacking while Carrick allowed the ball do the attacking on his behalf-however both were exquisite to watch to say the least. Cole Palmer has the same outlook to game-breath taking version but has to finish with a flourish, the way Kaka does or adopt Carricks roving role to become top top.Maybe thats why Pep Guardiola couldn't find a place for him in his plans
It's mad to think a player criticised for passing sideways as much as he was can look so much better than most of this generations midfielders! Pep ball killed creativity.
@@magicfc1000 Infact Busquets was a chess pawn, just like any of Pep's players (except Messi). That's how he destroyed creativity in football. Well, not Pep alone, but all the managers that wanted to copy his "total control of players" style, academies coaches included.

@@vengefulruby9592 well, we have to agree to disagree. I’m born 93 and even though I didn’t go to all the games I watched every game he played and he’s always been forward thinking. As a central midfielder, you can’t always pass forward, plus he has scholes next to him
At the the time when England were so called the golden generation,Beckham,Lampard,Rooney, etc. They missed a player, his name is Michael Carrick..If they let him play regularly,im sure they would won Euros or World Cup.. If any of England's manager could use Carrick playing in a midfield with anyone of these Scholes, Gerrard, Lampard, Gareth Barry, Beckham, I think that England could reach at least semi-final or final from 2006 to 2014 in Euro or WC
Busquet learnt from Carrick, while Rodri learnt from Busquet... Carrick was way too ahead of the game during his time.. He's the perfect DM everyone are currently looking for in modern football
Our best midfielder is bruno whos been carrying united. Hopefully ugarte becomes better slowly. These 115 fc fans think their midfielders will ever be like keane or scholes or carrick
He didn't play any minutes during the 2010 World Cup! He only played against Ecuador at 2006 World Cup he really impressed but didn't play any other minutes.
Anyone else see a young Michael Carrick when they watch Adam Wharton play? They feel like similar players in a way, I am curious to watch Adam develop and perhaps get a move to a "bigger" team in the future. I really appreciated Carrick when he was playing, loved watching him and his contribution to the team. Such an exceptional passer of course, played what looked like a simple game but could find some terrific passes that very few others could find. What perhaps goes unnoticed and that I didn't appreciate back then was his defensive, positional discipline. He knew the space, risks, coverage and protection so well... I appreciate this more the past several years since he's stopped playing, as United have obviously had a full range of.... different players... none of which have had his passing or positional intelligence.
Carrick would walk into any prem team now, years ahead of his time. His type is currently the most in demand in world football
Massively underrated. We are crying out for players of that quality these days

Carrick has been an unsung hero and underrated players in all of Ferguson's teams for all those years. He is pure class in midfield. 😍
The cowboy music took me out😂
Underrated, da goat Michael Carrick.
When you realise, this wasn't his main strength.
His defensive ability is so criminally overlooked, haven't seen another player slot in at CB as well as he did at times in 2015-16 season.
Now, Manchester United is loaded with midfielders that can't pass, can't dribble, can't defend; and can't even eat without being spoon-fed. Sad.
AI babies, useless
Yes very True useless.
And they only use one leg, which is a disaster for a midfielder
And we have forwards who simply can’t score even if they are provided with the best dish.
Carrick joined United in 2006 and that's the year the start winning again. Not a coincidence
I was watching all MU matches
I was still young
I thought what he did was just ordinary
... until we have no one played like him
making an assist while turning his body is insane, such vision man
Great player.Bring him back as coach.
So two-footed and underrated.
in addition he's good with boot feet, made him more unpredictable ❤
Honestly the best cdm england had at the time but never seems interested to give the lad a run in the national team!!!!😂😢
His playing style was similar to Sergio busquests.

There is, he is Sergio Busquets
Carrick are "bridge" from defender to striker
I present to you Sergio bousquets
Now I understand why Erik Ten Hag failed. He forced the team into playing short passes. No flexibility whatsoever.

Yet england manager pushed to pair lampard and gerrard at that time
I always see Carrick in Rodri passing style and vision

Michael Laudrup??
Better passing than Pogba.
Pogba was also another genius
Carrick was a poor player scared to pass forward he used to meke my blood boil
With all due respect, you don’t know what you saw, evidently
Lmao... I think you watched the highlights of a different player. 😂
