- Here is my next installment of me bumbling around Japan! I spent the day in Shinjuku. I was killing time until I met up with Peter at Crescendo to see HADES!! I finally met the band in person, got to spend some time with them after the show. It was great fun, please enjoy!!

Zepp Shinjuku is in the, like, 3rd basement floor of the tall building at 1:30 in your video. Near the Cinema with Godzilla on it.
That´s where I saw Band-Maid live in July 2023 last year for the first and only time so far.

Love your diary Ryan! And one more illusion gone: yes there's sometimes trash in the streets in Japan! 🤨.
From the little I know (the big tower close to the Godzilla statue on the cinema), that part of Shinjuku is Kabukicho, which is a red light district and just a place young people hang out and get drunk. The entertainment districts tend to have more trash from what I have seen in videos over the last couple of years and this one in particular is kinda infamous (together with Roppongi), I kinda "know" parts of it because it has been used in the Yakuza/Like A Dragon video games for years and years and I recognize a bunch of spots because of that, but I know plenty of Japanese people avoid it like the plague, especially later in the day. Especially the square in front of the big tower that now has Zepp Shinjuku used to have a lot of drunk people during the evening, but it looks to me like they are trying to clean up the neighborhood a bit by building the large new tower to try and get people feel a bit safer. The parts where Ryan filmed are probably no issue though.
On the plus side, Shinjuku was the only place I saw trash on the streets when I was in Japan last year. Fujisawa, Kanazawa, and Kamakura were all clean.

It wasn't bad as far as people, but trash was left in the area on the street all day. Another part of Nagoya want so bad
