I've glazed my 3/8" dyneema at 15mph with a petzl tandem (steel sheeve). You could see a small buildup of plastic on the petzl tandem pulley after a few weeks of use but the damage to the line was barely distinguishable.
Technora sheathed rope has been working better for me. I'd rather have a temp resistant sheath than a thicker line.

I found this channel while researching winch ropes and it's been great seeing a new hobby and getting to geek out on all the data. I went with a 1/2" because I've seen the 3/8" chineema break at 8-10k. Crazy considering they use it in 12k winches.
this answered my question about 1/2 chineema
Thank you and stay super safe enough

These weirdos are researching and proving/disproving ropes and gear that saves lives every day. Even the people who climb cliffs help with this knowledge. Not for me these things, but I’m glad someone is compiling all this info and making it available. These lessons have been learned often with blood, so much blood. At least someone in the future can use it. 😢

The problem with dyneema, is even with a smooth wheel and bearings, it's still going to take damage from that trolley

I broke a 1" polyester outer 12 strand dynema rope today. Trying to lift a 17k pound transformer today. I didn't see it but it was damaged just a little bit.

I'm curious about heat management when it comes to dyneema ziplining. Obviously it hasn't been an issue yet but I remember the story of the guy who zipped 150m on his hangover on high tech and melted through the main when he stopped.

You've done some testing on 3mm dyneema with the "NOT2" testing for bail out line. Could you test 3mm "tech cord" from teufelberger (sp?)? It's a technora core with an abrasion resistant braided polyester cord with similar strength to the small diameter dyneema braid. Perhaps less concern about failure from reducing strength by friction heating with this instead of dyneema?

Shii.. I'd be like "Can I borrow that parachute just in case" I love dyneema but I've never been able to force myself to commit to soft shackles unless it's for gear.

For a long time I have been thinking about using dyneema instead of steel wire. I'm afraid of heating the pulley. Any idea how to eliminate that on very long and really fast ziplines? 💚

Good information! How do you get the information from the dynalink to the computer?

Wut? That's HMPE. Knots don't work well with that stuff and would mess up the data.
