Given the the title and tune. it's not a surprise that the tune went into country music with 4 recordings before the end of 1942. It's still a standard at fiddle contests and bluegrass festivals.
Hi! Very nice that I can hear this version with Kansas City Kitty. I have other copy with Billy Murray and Seven Blue Babies. Same tempo, little other trombone solo and intro is different. I'm very happy that You have take 2. Regards Bixbix81
I was sitting here looking at a Billy Murray 78 record trying to figure out what to do with it. Thanks for the treat of hearing what he sounded like in his day.
Very nice Cylinder, I had recorded a short version, on two minute electrically in 2000. I don't have the money to do what I would like to do with my cylinders like you do, kind of a black sheep in the wierd world of Phonograph collectors. I could make four minute, If I could have four min cutters made.
What a feat berlin phonograph works has pulled off! And nice sound from your machine. The song is one I don't know, and it's always a treat to hear a "new" Billy Murray record. It's a little "old-fashioned" for 1929, which was consistent with the Edison style, but they couldn't completely keep the jazz out. That band is blowing pretty hot. *Really* hot for an Edison record...
this is a replica the original was one of the last blue Amberols and a very good transfer of its electrically recorded diamond disc 1929 an original cylinder issue sold on eBay 20 years ago for $10,000- yup it's a rare one! I had a copy before this infamous eBay sale I still have it! a modern sale in 2023 would have a price between 12,000 and 15,00 dollars in theory so not a bad investment!
The recording is transferred from Diamond Disc so should sould very close to the same. I made two videos of this. perhaps this one is a little fast. Try listening to the second one. It's recorded silhtly slower and I'm pretty sure at 160 rpm. ruclips.net/video/2DiGSk8W1L0/видео.html
nice phonograph and cute song too.the blue is still nice and clean all these years
later.
No tinny sound here! JUST GREAT JAZZ! These Cylinder`s Sound just WONDERFUL!

What a wonderful treat to hear this play. Thank you for sharing!
Oh! THANK YOU From the bottom of My heart!
The original from which this "modern" cylinder was dubbed is a late white and black electrically recorded Diamond Disk.
Absolutely wonderful!!!
What a glorious machine!
My goodness does that sound amazing!
Billy Murray never sounded better!
Astonishingly good sound,,,,from the cylinder and the Amberola. I'm really impressed. Thanks for this video.
I want the Edison Diamond Disc. .In my opinion, it is the best arrangement of this song I have heard.,
@@Billy219 Sorry for your loss. It has been 49 years just before Christmas for mine.
Norman, excellent job. Very difficult to do, yet you achieved perfection. Nice selection of a very rare record too!
Thanks for sharing this. This is the only complete version I have found.

Breathtaking cylinder recording demo, thanks for sharing !
Norman, this is incredible. It's quite an accomplishment to re-create a cylinder and maintain excellent sound quality. Nice shade of blue, too.

It should be in good shape -- it is a brand new reproduction made by Berlin Phonograph Works.
mjb784533 It most certainly is. The Berlin Phonograph Works offers many high quality reissues. www.berlinphonographworks.com

OMG! Where can You get these re issues? I LOVE THIS!
1929, the end of the line for cylinder recordings. =) And that was 85 years ago this year of 2014! =D
Billy Murray fan Cool! 😁 👍
@ribmeat hamhock It's 90 years TODAY! March 28, 2019. LoL
What a great sound!! Is this recorded in electric??
Yes, this is an electrically recorded Diamond disc used as the master , and electrically dubbed to the modern cylinder master.
Is this a different version from the diamond disc? Sounds like a better take, or is it just that the speed is up, and makes it sound different?

Bruce,
You did a stellar job recording this! What model of Edison Ambrola are you playing this on?
Bruce
This cylinder sounds better than the original blue Amberol dubbing, am I right by saying that it is electric transferred to cylinder?
Yes, this work was done by the Berlin Phonograph Works. Check out their website. They offer many great reissues.
Fingers on playing service can leave skin oil on grooves which can affect play.
Rim is OK
