I so love You tube, not because its a free way to listen to music before I buy, but because its a fabulous way of listening to music like this, of a more historical value.I never knew about gold moulded wax cylinders until now, Im pleasantly surprized that such things are still playable. A million thank yous :)
If I am recalling correctly, I purchased a collection of Edison Cylinders from an Elderly gentlemen about 12 years ago and discovered this gem in going through them all. It is the only version copy of this great song by Murray I have ever found on cylinder or disc record for that matter. Yankee Doodle Dandy is from the same Cohan Musical is much more common.
Ohhh hhooo hoo that is a rare piece of history there, you dont hear those very much anymore on the origional, and the singer has a nice voice good flow of the song, and just sings it does not try to sing it falsetto, dont try to embellish it too much and no technology to change the voice he has, unlike music today, I dont like when pop singers try to draw out the national anthem, and I dont like when they try to hip hop and r&b up old songs, there is art then there is just being stupid.
Question: Did you get any copyright warnings from RUclips about this? I just posted this song on a 1905 Victor record, and got a notice; does copyright still obtain on this, or i it public domain?
Not really, it has a few ticks here and there, but has remarkably clear sound quality for a 115 year old black wax 2 minute Edison Cylinder record. Why would you say that. I have heard moldy records, and this is NOT one I assure you.

What a crisp clear recording. Always love a Billy Murray song. I wonder if he was a nice a guy as his voice suggests.
Thanks, Bruce!
+Mark Speer Chances were, he probably was a nice guy.
I never received any copyright warnings concerning this record.

nice to hear the song in full again.
@Lucius1958 It was published in America before 1920 so it should be public domain
Oh wow I would like to see this in real life!
Beautiful!
Give my regards to Billy Murray
Love this. Thanks.
@popelauncher Thanks, it's kind of a hybrid South of Boston and north of Cape Cod Accent. LOL.
Thanks for Watching.

Outstanding...loved the pre-recording info.

@radioman56 Radioman, did you say that you actually had this rare 2 minute cylinder in that collection you bought. If so congratulations.
