Yeah this for me is easily the best song in the game. And the spectacle of the fight if you don’t cheese it is unmatched. The storming of flaming skulls…Rykard looming in the back raising his sword and sucking up all the fire and brimstone in a swirling storm around the sword before smashing it into the arena…the pillars of sinew and bones bursting and collapsing as the skulls hunt you down and smash them…it was insane .
0:45 those violins give me chills every time, usually im so into a boss fight that i never focus on the music that much but i always hear those violins over the fight and theyre so beautiful
The most Berserk bossfight for me so far. The nod to the Behelit sword, the parallels between Rykard and Emperor Ganesha, all sooo cool. I also felt like i was playing thru that devil scene in disney's Fantasia when Rykard just summons hell and the strings start flying.

Everybody talks like Rykard is character straight out of Berserk or something, but to be honest he is more like Elden Ring's depiction of Satan himself. Biblically devil was described also like snake. Considering that entire Rykard's location is like huge prison and purgatory for undead it suits hell fine. Also the moment when he literally summons thousands of fire skulls feels like hell or some kind of apocallyps. In addition name "Lord of Blasphemous" speaks a lot for itself.

Gimmick fights are meant to be memorable because they play against the basic fundamentals of the game, but they're risky to pull off successfully and need a lot of thought behind their design, or else they might end up being the worst bosses of the game. See Rykard vs bed of chaos.
No, but he seems programmed to sync up with it. A lot of people, myself included, saw him activate that attack trigger on the crescendo, but I think staggering him before that resets the timer for the attack.
@@itol2201 I can confirm that at a certain point in the fight (when the sky above becomes really vibrant, if you watch closely you can see souls come off his blade when he scrapes it across the ground, then they get added into the sky.) he is scripted to perform the skull rain attack, and then afterwards he does Taker's flames. The reason I can confirm this is because I stunned him while he was preparing the attack and he tried doing it again, I stunned him again and he tried again, over and over til we both simultaneously killed eachother

Having an actual Hungarian opera singer as the lead vocalist for this track was an absolutely fucking INSPIRED decision. Adds such a uniquely sinister and evil vibe to the fight that really sets it apart from even some of the absolute best boss themes in the game.
Hearing the part at 1:13 and seeing all the flaming skulls rain down is one of the biggest holy shit moments in any Fromsoftware games i'v played. Amazing Boss with one of the best boss themes in Soulborne History.
This is maybe my favorite music in the game. The deep male voices, its unique from any other boss score. It feels so demonic and evil. From 0:42 through 1:30, that part man. The buildup of the trumpets, then the transition from the slow low voices to the faster chanting. That part is second only maybe to the intro to godricks second phase music for me.

It is the moments when the choir subtly becomes almost dissonant/(with that second voice lifting it up a bit sharp?) that makes me feel the power and bizarre majesty of Rykard 1:56, definitely the most memorable boss out of the lot for me
ok so, the beginning and end of this music is Gravelord Nito, and the chaos in the middle and the violins at 00:45 is Seath the Scaleless (minus the xylophone lol). i always get that whenever i listen to this song, it's both of those songs combined and cranked up to batshit crazy in my opinion. gotta luv it

This is my favorite track so far. I swear the chills started as soon as i heard that guy voice and that made the fight an experience in a league of it's own.
Honestly if they took God Devouring Serpent and fully focused the fight about Rykard then he could of easily been the best boss, his first phase is what puts him down for me
I killed him on my first try because I was already over prepared and got to the mountain of the giants so I was upset I didn’t hear the theme for long LOL
TRUE! I was able to beat him on my very first try as well since I was already way too over leveled for the fight, as I was 230 with the fight. Definitely one of my favorite fights in the game and the 2nd phase is pretty incredible, as I'm a sucker for this kind of music in games
It's implied that the hands on the serpent are all the Recusants that have been offered up to Rykard. If the player were to be devoured by Rykard, we'd most likely join all those little arms on his body.
