I've been playing the show since 2008. The most important thing in my opinion when it comes to being able to hit the ball is working the count. When I learned not to chase, my game went up several levels. I think it's more important to recognize balls that will end up out of the zone than where balls will end up in the zone. If you learn not to chase it will be much easier when you're ahead in the count to see that fat hanger in the zone. The other upside is that you can get that starters pitch count up where he is more likely to make mistakes. You also get to the bullpen faster. And last but not least, a human opponent will get frustrated quite easily if you make them throw several pitches every at bat. As you said, most people are swing happy, don't swing at bad pitches and you can get into your opponents head because they don't usually see good plate discipline. Alot of players depend on you chasing trash because they don't know how to use one pitch to set up another. Keep those players in a corner, don't swing at bad pitches. And dude, if have a PS5 and haven't snagged up one of these new edge controllers.....make it a priority....that's my tip for you.....😜
I personally enjoy the PCI anchor, after watching a few of these videos I've picked up a few tips that have worked for me. I usually lock my PCI towards the bottom middle, and depending on the pitcher ill adjust it. But I like having the PCI locked towards the bottom so I can raise up and get under the ball more often then not. Small movements have worked for me I find that I've gotten more consistent with getting on target n almost dead center of the ball every time. Again just adjust the placing of the pci depending on what the pitchers throwing. Keeps throwing high I move to middle or middle high, inside move it to the inside, outside move it outside. Start trying to predict pitches. Keep eye on the ball, n practice, practice, practice.
Thanks I'm definitely going to try practicing with fastball speed one level up. My timing was all messed up in game after cranking it all the way up i was either missing too early or pulling everything.
My tip is to hit with the flick of the right stick. Other than that, it's knowing the pitcher and knowing the hitter you are hitting with. Certain pitches are thrown in certain counts. I played all the way through college so I play on legend for the challenge
You can give the best tips all you want to, you can put that on your controller all you want, and you can make twenty thousand videos about how to hit better all you want. The fact is it comes down to hand eye coordination. Some people got it some people don't but that's what it boils down to is how good your hand-eye coordination is
That’s obviously a part of it, but there’s a lot of in-game settings that will improve your game that a lot of people don’t realize. You’d be surprised!
Ur acting like u cant improve or develope hand eye coordination, lol. Cmon man, u learn with practice. U must be a part of this new generation that just gives up too easily. Ur not gonna get great overnight!
Very helpful, great video man! Crazy what pitching tendencies you can notice if you pay attention. When I slump during a game, taking a quick look at the pitcher analysis is helpful
Ok. I've played the show since '16 and this video helped me more than any other. I play only RTTS on legendary with no equipment. I'm usually a .200-.260 hitter and maybe 7-10 times a season would get a perfect perfect. The first night after seeing your video I went off. Several multi-hr games and got my average up to .327 (it's only 4 weeks into the season). Holy shit dude. Great fucking video. Thank you very much. Subbed.
What could you suggest for players using pure analog hitting because I’m really struggling and it’s mostly with plate discipline and I’m striking out a lot and those struggles take me to the other side of the ball?
I wouldn’t recommend playing with guess pitch in offline play because it’s disabled for online play. It becomes too much of a crutch because then you’ll know what pitch is coming, making it easier for you, but in online play it’s gonna hurt you when you’re not used to having that on.
Hey, I'm a new viewer from Taiwan, Please don't forget me when you get famous like the little man because I know you will! Personally, I like playing BR and Event because I wouldn't say I like long 9-inning stressful games, and I am good at taking pitches and being patient, which led me to 5 flawless runs in 22. My strategy in BR is to take all close pitches and get the pitcher's energy down and when the opponent stresses out about not hitting the corner I will eventually get my pitches to hit. Also, I'm a really good pitcher, I often hold Flawless, World series opponents to little or no runs. Anyways, hope you make more videos in the future and I promised I will watch them!
New to mlb cant time the left stick and hit at the same time im on a 55inch tv , i was better with the actual timing setting but most of the time u dont even hit the ball
Great vid, here's a tip I just learned yesterday that helped my timing. If you watch the hitters front foot they step with timing of the pitch, if you swing right when they put the front heel down you will have good timing, making it easier to hit with guys with big leg kicks. I've played the game since '12 and just learned this.
I got called up played spring training. Batted like 0.88 mfs sent me right back down to AA. I really felt like a failure.it’s Happened twice now lmaooooo
I lay mine flat across with the tip of my thumb pointing to the right stick. I then use the edges of my thumb to push the sick in the direction I want it to go, angling my thumb slightly depending on which way I'm moving the stick. It may take a little while to get used to but I feel like it's a more consistent way to swing. Using the tip of your thumb at the bottom of the stick doesn't give alot of control especially when you're hitting high. One more thing that might help. Make sure you're keeping your right thumb on the button to swing. Don't hold it above it. You want to take that unnecessary movement of closing that gap to the button. It doesn't seem like much, but on this game a millisecond can mean the difference in a hit and a foul.
@@LogicallyKnot thanks!! I know a lot of it really comes to feel, but I wondered if people had some particular strategies that could help not a player not jam as much.
@ E Clark (I got this comment from @Jit Romney) I try to make the center of my thumb match the center of the stick. I also try to rotate my hand so it's inline with my thumb. sounds kinda weird but I noticed when my thumb and hand are. I actually tried this, and I have gotten more success! The difference has been that in the past, I would flick my control stick to the ball’s location. I felt like I had to jab at the location to get there quicker. My timing on the swing would be good, but because I flicked it, the PCI would go back to the middle or be slightly above the location because it wasn’t still. With Jit’s tip and watching a few different videos from folks like @CollegeLefty, I realize that once I moved to a location I need to stay in that location with the PCI. Jit’s grip and reps have helped!
@@myronkuykendall2191 That's great man. Working the count is probably the biggest thing when it comes to hitting the ball. I've been playing the show since 2008 and once I learned to leave the trash alone and get ahead in the count, my game went up several levels. There are so many positives to being patient at the plate. You should be able to recognize if it's going to be trash almost immediately after it leaves the pitchers hand. You can also recognize spin for the type of pitch that's being thrown once you're put in the time. I still run up on pitchers were their pitch mechanics gives me problems. The slow, jerky windups are the worst for me. Especially if they have serious smoke on the ball. It's quite amazing that this game is that detailed, but it is. It's the little details that will make you better. This game is a true sim and it's not easy that's for damn sure 😂 Good luck.
You’ll start to recognize pitches out of the hand with repetition. It’s hard to explain, but you’ll start to see how the pitches break and you’ll know what pitch it is.

Yep that's exactly why I don't like messing with the sliders too much!
Also another tip, always prepare for a fast ball so u can be ready for both off speed and those 98 mile per hour fast balls
Yep! Always gotta be ready for the heat! Much easier to react to the offspeed than react to the heater 😉
Yes...always be geared up for the heat. You can always slow down, you can't speed up.

how do you recognize pitches when they come out of the pitcher's hand? like how do you distinguish fastballs and changeups from each other
I play on amateur and still can’t get a HR😭 It seems like it’s harder to get one this year (started playing last year ) thanks for the tips 🙏🏾
Thanks bro! I like Guess Pitching. What are the settings for that when it’s on and the PCI locks on where the boll is going to go?

I like dynamic pitching/hitting
One thing ur not mentioning is that u swing ONLY after the batter lands his foot u start swinging..
How much dose a gaming monitor usually run$
The one I have cost me around $150
What tip do you have for actually recognizing the pitch upon release from the pitcher's hand?
You’ll start to recognize pitches out of the hand with repetition. It’s hard to explain, but you’ll start to see how the pitches break and you’ll know what pitch it is.
Understood. Thanks for your help!
In a video baseball game, I follow the pitchers glove. Once the glove comes thru, the ball is right behind it.
So why is zone hitting so much better than timing he would think timing would be easier
This is the best video I have seen on how to get better
Thanks!
What button do you swing with mostly
Always normal swing. So, X on PlayStation/ A on Xbox
@@UHeynaBoutIt so there is zero upside to using contact or power?
@@welcome_to_the_own_zone nope. Always normal swing!
Don't, just press A casually until you have a stack of 99 cards, that's all that can hit anything. Read a book while u get xp 😆
I'm gettin´ frustrated cuz I'm makin´ consistently good swings but I get very hits..
Sucks but you can’t get in your head! Eventually those good swings will get rewarded. Keep making that solid contact and you’ll come out with a win
